Since the innovation of washing machines for private and commercial laundry uses, different home appliance manufacturing companies over time improved on several technologies so as to improve the efficiency of these machines in handling dirt removal effectively.
LG Electronics has attributed the success of its washing machine segment to its proprietary Six Motion Direct Drive technology.
LG’s six Motion technology washing-machines use six powerful techniques to deliver a customised wash for different types of fabric. The washing machines are developed from technology that allows one to care for one’s most delicate fabrics from silk to woolen, and from sportswear to the luxury couture garments seen on the catwalk.
Premium models of LG front-load washing machines also include a steam washer, which harnesses the power of steam to remove dirt, odours and reduce wrinkles.The product’s 20-minute Steam Refresh Cycle provides a detergent-free wash that uses less than one litre of water, to blast clothes with steam to refresh and smooth wrinkles.
The unique Smart Diagnosis system lets one diagnose and solve washing problems on LG washing machines using a smartphone. Available for both iPhone and Android, the Smart Diagnosis app lets the user record and analyse special tones emitted by LG Smart Diagnosis washing machines to provide the user with a diagnosis without necessarily needing to call a service technician.
Recently, the fascinating front load washing machine was rated high among others in its class due to its quiet operation and spacious capacity, with a host of other innovative features designed to make washing clothes a stress-free experience.
This is what earned it top ratings in Spain and Italy, recently. Influential Spanish consumer title, OCU-Compra Maestra and Italian consumer advocacy organisation, Altro Consumo, gave the washing machine the highest scores in their latest product rankings.
This was as a result of tests carried out by OCU-Compra Maestro at the end of first quarter of this year. LG’s front-loading washing machine scored 60 points, earning it the “Mejor del Analisis” (Best Product) award.
Washing machines were rated on their ability in 15 categories, including washing, rinsing, drying, energy efficiency, noise level and convenience. Of all the 11 products tested, LG’s offering was also the only model to receive a “Purchase” recommendation. The washing machine was praised for its superior rinsing performance, and for leaving behind the least amount of detergent residue.
More so, in Italy, the washing machine secured the top spot in a product comparison conducted by non-profit consumer organisation, Altro Consumo. It was also tested against 15 other models available in the Italian market and it took top place for its superior washing and rinsing performance. Altro Consumo magazine also commended the product for its low noise operation during the spin-dry cycle and for its competitive pricing.
As a result of these developments, General Manager, Home Appliance Division, LG Electronics, West Africa Operations, Mr Hyunwoo Jung, noted that the washing machine had proven time and again that it was second to none when it came to performance and value. He said, “Our proprietary six Motion Direct Drive technology is the magic behind our success and it’s the type of innovation that will continue to drive us toward our goal to create value-added solutions which bring greater convenience and efficiency to our consumers’ everyday life.”
Designed to offer different washing motions to suit your clothes, LG’s six motion washing machines are able to perform various drum motions or a combination of different motions depending on the wash programme selected, to mirror motions of traditional manual wash methods.
The motions include: Tumble, which is the standard turn washing machine motion.
Scrub, which is a combination of scrub motion and the waved lifters create a figure-8 shape and a ‘trough’ of water.
In rolling motion, laundry is rolled below the water level and creates more friction with the inner drum which is gentle on clothes.
In the swing motion, this heart-shaped motion washes laundry below the water line from side to side.
Filtration which involves a mix of spinning and spray from the shower forms the movement. This soaks the laundry faster and more evenly.
Stepping motion is the action of rotating and stopping repeatedly in the washing machine and it minimises creasing.
