4 Gay Men Arrested In Bauchi State Nigeria For Sodomy

4 gay men who got arrested in Gumau city on Thursday the 8th of May, 2014 for alleged sodomy appeared before a Shariah court in Bauchi today.

The prosecutor in charge of the case, Abubakar Garba said the accused, Abubakar Alhassan, Sani Sale, Shehu Ahmed and Misbahu Sale, were caught having carnal knowledge of themselves in Gumau Town on the aforementioned date.

Garba said the offence contravened Sections 126 and 133 of the State Shari’ah Laws, 2001, adding that homosegxwal also contravened the Penal Code.

However, Alhassan, Sale and Ahmed pleaded guilty to the charge and asked for mercy, but the fourth accused, Misbahu Sale, pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The case has been adjourned till the 26th of June for further hearing.
