Two persons including a septuagenarian, Julianah Titilope Raimi (72), have been arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State for alleged N 4.7 million fraud. Rasheed Adigun and the septuagenarian, according to the charge sheet marked MI/750/ C2015, obtained the money under false pretense.
They were slammed with a three-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony to wit obtaining money under false pretense and stealing. The Officer-in-Charge, Legal, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Iyaganku, DSP Fawole Bukola, said in the charge sheet that “the accused and others, now at large, in November 2012 at Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan, did conspire to commit felony to wit obtaining money under false pretense and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol 11 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000”.
On count two, it was said “that you Julianah Titilope Raimi, Rasheed Adigun on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully obtain the sum of N4,720,000 from one Olusekun Majekayomi under the pretense that you have a plot of land at Total Garden, Ibadan which Oyo State government gave to you for sale, which you know to be false and thereby committed and offence contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol 1 Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.
“That you Julianah Titilope Raimi, Rasheed Adigun on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did steal N4,720,000 property of one Olusegun Majekayomi and thereby committed and offence contrary to Section 363 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol 11, Laws of Oyo State, Nigeria 2000”. When the case was mentioned on Friday, the accused pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned till December 10 for mention.
