Some group of Nigerian researchers have called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to take measures that could reduce the effects of the earthquake that has been predicted for some states in the country.

Dr. Adepelumi Adekunle Abraham, who led researchers from the Department of Geology, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has submitted its report titled "Preliminary Assessment of Earth Tremor Occurrence in Shaki Area, Shaki West Local Government, Oyo State, indicating an impending ‘damaging earthquake" in the next four years.

Meanwhile, at a press conference addressed by Michael Ale, the National President of the Nigerian Association of Water-Well Drilling Rig Owners and Practitioners (AWDROP), the union has called on the President Buhari-led Federal Government to take measures that could reduce the effects of the earthquake that has been predicted for Shaki, Oyo State.

AWDROP lamented that lack of Underground Water Abstraction Regulation in Nigeria, could easily induce earthquake and sea water intrusion, “hence the need for government to ensure strict compliance in the implementation of code of practice in borehole drilling” in the country.

According to DailyTrust, Michael Ale said his Association had been informed of the salt water intrusion affecting underground water usage and subsidence along the land-ocean boundaries in shoreline areas.

The areas are:

1. Lagos
2. Port-Harcourt
3. Warri
4. Bayelsa
5. Cross River State
6. Oyo State

He advised the Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, to create an integrated groundwater management modelling tools to improve sustainable management efforts and optimize resources utilization.

Yoruba propaganda, the just include Lagos to fill as if they r researching. Apart from Lagos other states R Biafran states rubbish. If there is any earthquake it start from Abuja, kaduna, katsina, Ibadan, sokoto, all those dry land not from the eastern regions.
