Ten people were killed Saturday when a 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit north-western Tanzania, police said.

More than 100 people were injured in the quake, which hit Kagera region on the western shore of Lake Victoria, regional police commander Augustine Ollomi said.

Widespread damage was reported following the quake, which also rocked the neighbouring regions of Mwanza, Mara and Simiyu.

The quake had its epicentre in Tanzania, according to sources at a volcanic observatory in the Congolese city of Goma, where the quake was also felt.

Goma residents said it occurred at about 1230 GMT.

Augustino Nduganda from the Tanzania Meteorological Agency said it was too early to give a detailed report.

Emelensiana Benjamin from Bukoba town said houses there had cracked so badly residents were afraid to enter them.

Well ! African must understand its evolution ,nature won't remain the same without changes,it is constant in nature and natural to changes .Therefore,it's no surprise we are experiencing and approaching new changes in Africa geophysics. Its sad how most African nation do not have emergency response and facilities to contain a severe occurrence of cataclysm .It has just started ,meaning we also prone to cataclysm no exception .Africa brace up yourself !

it could set up a chain reaction, maybe this earthquake will swallow fulani herds men and then it will begin to swallow thieves in high places.
