The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has traced the sum of N905, 941,696.87 to the account of a one-man business whose owner is deceased and has frozen the account over suspicious activity.
Rivlink International was owned by a Christian Robinson who has since died but another man, Kenneth Koroma was the sole signatory to the company’s fixed deposit account which had received huge lodgements from the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority without evidence of any contract executed, The Nation reported.
Koroma had instructed the bank in June 2017 to liquidate the Rivlink International’s fixed deposit account and transfer the funds to another account number 0037907856 of a company, OLF Enterprise, which he also owns.
Unknown to Koroma, however, the Rivlink’s owner had changed his name as the sole signatory to the account and the bank showed him evidence to that effect.
The EFCC got wind of the matter through intelligence report and has frozen the account believed to be used for money laundering.
The anti-graft agency has approached a court for a forfeiture order for the funds.
