I recently came across a comment on Bossip.com made by established US hip-hop rapper, Slim Thug, which got me thinking about this: Why do some Black men seek interracial relationships? According to Slim Thug, “it’s hard to trust a Black woman because a lot of Black women’s frame of mind is that the man has got to do everything for her; he has to pay for this, that, and if it ain’t about the money, then a lot of them ain’t f ****** with him.”

I found this comment to be very condescending, and an utter generalisation of the Black female population. Granted, there are some Black women out there who believe money is the be all and end all of everything BUT, not every Black woman is gold-digger. Just as there are Black gold-diggers, there are also White gold-diggers.

If one Black man has this train of thought, does that mean most Black men feel the same? The answer is a resounding no. Not only were Slim Thug’s comments shot down by several media outlets, but even fellow celebs joined in the criticism. However, the biggest backlash came from Columbia University Professor, Marc Lamont Hill. You guys can check out the full excerpt here http://theloop21.com/society/open-letter-slim-thug.

Although Slim Thug’s comments are degrading and unfair to the majority of Black independent women that work hard to make their own money, it isn’t really hard to notice that there are a lot of male Black celebrities that are either dating or married to women outside of the Black race.

Now, I’m not saying that it is mandatory for a Black or White man to only date or marry a Black or White woman, and vice versa. However, statistics have shown that the highest rate of divorce is amongst interracial couples. Yet, there are still a lot of Black males that are with a non- Black woman. I know some Black ladies also date or marry outside their race.

Henceforth, Ghanacelebrities.com would like to know what you guys think about interracial relationships. Why do you guys think Black men, and even Black women sometimes date outside their race? Has anyone experienced an interracial relationship?- please feel free to share your experiences with us and the other readers.

Now, I know this article is not necessarily about Ghana celebrities specifically, henceforth, before some people decide to leave comments along the lines of “what’s the point of this article?” or “what has this got to do with Ghana celebrities?”, please be aware, Ghanacelebrities.com not only seeks to bring the best gossip from within the Ghanaian entertainment industry, but also seeks to engage our readers in lively and interesting discussions. Therefore, let us know what you guys think of the topic!

Probably similar reasons why some white men and yellow and red men date outside their race?

What do you think, sister Sophie? Do they have the same taste?
I really do not think race matters when it comes to love.

Maybe they just want to try something different for a change. Like I always say, experience shapes who we are or what we are to become. Depending on our past, maybe unpleasant experience with one race, (and this is not everyone) some may seek comfort elsewhere, forgetting that "The grass always seems greener on the other side." When they have now tasted that part of life, they make a realization...and that is probably where the relationship fallouts come in...in my opinion anyway...
