Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka is launching a new political party in Nigeria ahead of the country's presidential election. Soyinka who won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1986, attended an event in Lagos on Saturday announcing the platform of the Democratic Front for a People's Federation. The party claims to be a "zero resource" party, a jab at oil-rich Nigeria's culture of government graft and corruption. According to The New York Times the event saw a number of empty seats, a rarity in the politics of rented crowds in Africa's most populous nation.
