Recovered from the trio (names withheld) were a Honda Accord car and a Lexus car, with number plates SR 174 KJA, and JD 256 EKY, respectively. Both vehicles, were reportedly recovered in far away Abuja, where they were sold to an unidentified buyer.
Investigation into the recovery of a third vehicle, a Sequoia jeep in their custody, was said to be on, to ascertain whether it was stolen or originally belong to one of the suspects as claimed.
The Honda Accord vehicle, as gathered, was snatched from its owner at gun point on August 27, at about 11.30p.m., while the owner, simply identified as Adegoke, was driving home in company of his friend at Ailegun Road, Ejigbo, Lagos. Three months later, the three-man gang reportedly broke into an apartment around the area, where they dispossessed their victim of valuables, including a Lexus jeep.
Luck, however, ran against the gang, as through intelligence report by detectives, two members of the gang were arrested leading to the arrest of the third.
Preliminary investigation as gathered, revealed that one of the receivers is a Nigerian based in the United States of America, whose identity was given as Tochi Egwuom. The female receiver as reliably informed, bought both recovered vehicles for N400,000 and 500,000 and sold them for N1Million and N4.5Million respectively to a buyer in Abuja.
She was said to have taken to her heels when news of the arrest of other suspects reached her.Surprisingly, she was discovered to be a younger sister to one of the arrested suspects.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Frank Mba said the suspect would soon be charged to court.
