Speaking at the Presidential Dinner for the victorious team at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in Ikeja, Lagos on Monday, Sports Minister and Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, announced a comprehensive insurance scheme as well as scholarship for the players. He also disclosed that the NSC would double whatever the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had promised the team.
“Those of you that have not completed their higher education, owing to one reason or the other would do so, while still playing football”, the Sports Minister said, adding that “the National Sports Commission has evolved a comprehensive insurance scheme for all athletes during and outside competitions”
“The NSC would double whatever the NFF has promised you (Flying Eagles). Mr. President has passion for sports because it is in the forefront of the Vision 2020 in the development of this country.
“The NSC is upgrading all the hostels in the various national stadia across the country to hotel standards because government believes that athletes deserve better attention.
The national stadia are underutilized. In a few weeks time, all the facilities would come back to life, so that Nigerian athletes can realize their dreams” Adedoja assured.
