First of all, is there any such thing as "Islamic Banking"? Or is the suffix "Islam" the cause for the cold finacio-religious war. Church leaders and The Central Bank Governor, Mr Sanusi Lamido have been exchanging words. Sanusi is accused of wanting to "islamize" Nigeria...(if there's any such word) and he thinks the Church leaders are just being misinformed, biased and playing religious sentiments. He was even summoned to the House of Reps to explain his stand on the new banking product and he left with round of applause for his ever impressive delivery.
We know of "Non-Interest Banking/lending". Should we propose to the Central Bank of Nigeria to employ appropriate use of words? At least, non-interest banking seems to be a more diplomatic term and nobody would be offended...or should we damn politeness and ask our Church Leaders to forget the name of a thing and embrace it's values?
Anyway, lets see if the Bible (Our Ultimate Guide) has to say about [strike]Islamic[/strike]..oops..sorry Non-Interest Borrowing/Lending:
Deuteronomy 23:19-20
Proverbs 28:8
Hmmn..maybe the introduction of Non-interest banking is Godly afterall..or what does the house think?
Nehemiah 5:9-10
Let's discuss![/quote]
