RETALIATION? Police shoots, Abokis flee eastern Nigeria

     Like the Biblical saying, The evil man runeth when no man pursueth him. this is a typical situation in eastern Nigeria today as Officials say a police shooting in Nigeria's southeast caused Muslims living in the Christian area to flee in panic amid concerns about retaliatory violence.

The shooting happened Thursday in Anambra state. Local police spokesman Emeka Chukwuemeka said an officer shot a man to death, leading to unrest. Chukwuemeka said the officer has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The shooting and unrest caused Muslims living there to flee, as fears persist of retaliation in the region over attacks by a radical Islamist sect. Delta state police spokesman Charles Muka said some living in Anambra had fled into his state.

The sect known as Boko Haram is blamed for killing at least 270 people this year alone in its campaign for strict Shariah law across multiethnic Nigeria.
