The Police Service Commission on Wednesday announced the dismissal of Zakari Biu from the Nigerian police force. Biu, until Wednesday, was a commissioner of police in charge of criminal investigations in Abuja
The decision to dismiss Biu was linked to the  escape of  Kabiru Sokoto, the suspected christmas day Catholic church bomber from police custody. Kabiru Sokoto reportedly masterminded the bombing of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madala, Niger State on December 25 2011 killing 42 people , he was recently captured in Taraba state.
The decision regarding Biu’s dismissal  was taken at the meeting of the PSC which was held in Abuja today.
A statement signed by Mr. Ferdinand U. Ekpe on behalf of the chairman of the commission, Mr. Parry Osayande, said the decision to dismiss Biu was as a result of his culpability in the escape of suspected Boko Haram terrorist Kabiru Umar.
