On Saturday 20th October 2012, Multi Media Entertainment Company – Golden Icons will celebrate in the Moris Cultural Center, Houston, Texas the achievements of African Movie Stars with the GIAMA Awards – Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
This inaugural edition of the GIAMA Awards which promises to be a night of extravagance, glamour and non stop entertainment, will see the best of African actors and actresses light up America’s “Lone Star State” – Texas with their sophisticated suits and glamorous gowns.
According to Golden Icons,“The concept of the GIAMA Awards is designed to resonate with African movie lovers in the Diaspora, especially in the United States and Canada as well as lovers of African movies throughout the world. It will serve as a forum for creating a platform that will ensure continuous rewarding of individuals that have exemplified competence, diligence and innovation in the African film making profession. GIAMA’s sole focus is to reward excellent movies produced in Africa or by Africans in the Diaspora.”
GIAMA Awards consists of 26 Nomination categories, all created to recognize actors, directors, producers, script writers and executive producers that have greatly influenced the African film industry. Mercy Johnson tops the list for me. Acting is not about the pretty face or stupid "shakara". Mercy knows how to interprete a role and make it look very real. I'm not down for african movies, but i do sometimes enjoy watching mercy johnson and patience ozokwor(mama G lol) acting.
