She scored an astonishing 9 goals in 29 minutes at the ongoing Asian Games. Wang earned that sobriquet from Chinese fans and media after coming off the bench to wreck havoc in a 16-0 demolition of Tajikistan on Monday at the Asian Games in Indonesia. The free-scoring forward has found the net a total of 11 times, netting in the 7-0 opening victory over Hong Kong and adding a towering header as China’s women beat formidable North Korea 2-0 on Wednesday to top their group and make the quarter-finals in style.  China’s women football team, yet to concede a goal, are being feted back home and 28-year-old Wang, in particular, is making headlines for her jaw-dropping prowess in front of goal. There have been tongue-in-cheek suggestions that she could be the answer to the goal-scoring problems of the Chinese men. Wang’s sizzling form is all the more surprising because prior to the past week she was hardly prolific, although she did catch eyes by scoring a backheel volley against South Korea last year — the kind of exquisite strike that Messi and Ronaldo would be proud of. She currently plies her trade in China’s little-noticed domestic women’s league. “For the past three group matches, Wang Shanshan scored 11 goals and became Chinese women’s football’s talisman,” China’s Tencent Sports said in an online article. “In more crucial tournaments, Wang Shanshan will become the key player in helping the women’s team win gold.” Against the North Koreans, midfielder Wang Shuang, who recently signed for Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team, opened the scoring in the eighth minute, finishing off a fluid passing move. “China’s women really have the chance to win the gold medal. The team is blessed to have Wang Shuang and Wang Shanshan in this era,” said one fan on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter. China’s evening ended on a sour note, however, after substitute Zhao Rong was sent off at the end and coach Jia Xiuquan followed her for complaining to officials. A few months later she was a contestant at Miss Universe, and became the first Nigerian to place among the top 10 semi-finalists, finishing seventh overall. She was the only one to wear a maillot as opposed to a bikini during the swimsuit competition. In November that year, she became the first native African to claim the Miss World title (Although past winners such as Penelope Coelen and Anneline Kriel are South African, they are of European descent, and Antigone Costanda, who represented Egypt in 1954 is of Greek heritage). |  A suspect nabbed by the FCT Police Command, Chika Anozie said he went into stealing to treat himself of an undisclosed ailment. Anozie who is an ex-convict, was arrested while he was attempting to steal his sisters car parked at Wuse market in Abuja.  Giving details of how his arrest was made, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma said: “When you park your car at Wuse market, Anozie is one of the syndicate that specialises in vandalizing vehicles.
“On 14th August, 2018 at about 1345hrs, Police operatives from Wuse Division on routine patrol in Wuse market arrested Chika Anozie while trying to steal a Maroon Colour Nissan Almera car with reg. no. EF 60 KRD from where it was parked.
“The car belongs to his sister and we recovered from him; one master key, car battery and stereo were recovered from the suspects the suspect who is an ex-convict.”On his part, Anozie said: “I am the one that usually takes care of the car for my sister. I did not steal a car, it is just battery of the car and stereo I stole.
“It is hunger that led me to attempt to steal her car.
“I told her that I was not feeling too well and instead of giving me money for treatment, she told me that she didn’t have money.
“Instead of dying from the sickness, I spoke with a colleague of mine and we decided to steal the battery, stereo and engine of her car where she parked it.
“We succeeded in taking the battery and stereo where she parked it at Wuse market because I got a master key from a friend.”He added: “I have returned the battery to my sister and she has asked them (Police) to forgive me.
“I am sorry, I will not do it again, I promise.”The CP said he would be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation. | | | | |

|  President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said that the efforts of defectors and their backers in the opposition will not distract his administration from the good work it has been doing for the benefit and development of Nigeria. He spoke during lunch with some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and some members of the National Assembly and Commissioners in Daura, Katsina State.  According to him, his administration is focused in delivering the 2015 campaign promises in the area of improved economy, security and fight against corruption. Buhari, in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said that the APC has the full understanding of Nigeria’s challenges and was encouraged by the support of Nigerians in addressing them. He said, ‘‘We are always encouraged when all our constituents are happy with the work we are doing and our genuine efforts to make sure that what we campaigned for in 2015 is still very much in our minds and we have not lost focus.
‘‘In terms of security, economy and the fight against corruption we have maintained focus. Even the opposition with all their resources cannot fault our identification of Nigeria’s priorities and the efforts being made to better them.
‘‘We will continue to do what we ought to do in the leadership position God has placed us and we thank the constituents for the support,” he added
On the defections within the major political parties, Buhari reiterated his earlier message to them: saying ‘‘for those who have decided to change camp for whatever reason, we wish them good luck.’’ | | | | |

|  Just some few days after the Oyo State Government demolished his radio station at Music House in Ibadan, popular Nigerian musician, Yinka Ayefele, has relocated the Fresh FM to Abeokuta, Ogun State.  Ayefele was received in the state by Governor Ibikunle Amosun. Oyo State government early on Sunday morning demolished the Music House that was home to the radio station, along Challenge Road in Ibadan, with the claim that the building was constructed along the road and actually obstructs vehicular movement.  The order to demolish Ayefele’s Music House was initially denied by the state government, with the governor Abiola Ajimobi stating that he was not aware of the planned demolition. However a statement released later by the government listed the faults of the owners of the building.  Read the statement and documents released below What You Should Know About The Partial Demolition At The Music House
1. 19th May, 2017, letters demanding for planning approval were sent to various institutions including UCH, Kola Daisi University, University of Ibadan and other institutions and organisatons.
2. 14th June 2017, request for approval was sent to Music House and 22 other radio stations in Oyo State.
3. 18th August 2017, Reminder Letter was sent Music House and the letter was received by Adebisi Akinkunmi.
4. 25th August 2017 A letter was sent to National Broadcasting Commission titled Operation of Radio Stations without Physical Planning permit/Aprroval in Oyo State.
5. November 27, 2017: another letter was sent to NBC complaining about Physical Planning Law and Regulations by the Radio station owners, developers and operators.
6. December 4, 2017: NBC responded that the issue is outside its mandate
7. 14th June 2018: an approved building plan was submitted and BPP& DC discovered that it was meant to be an office complex and not a radio station.
8. June 25th 2018: A joint visit was consequently carried out by the officials of the Bureau with Music House officials.
9. We discovered the following:
a. The building size measured 29.7 metres by 21.6 metres on ground as against the 11.925metres by 10.20metres in the approved survey plan/building plan as submitted by Music House. (Meaning that used up more land than was approved)
b. The building has encroached into the sight distance of the Y junction along Lagelu Estate.
c. Kitchen/canteen is attached to the wall fence
d. Toilets also attached to the wall fence
e. Store is also attached to the wall fence
f. Power house attached to the wall fence
g. Mast erected is not in the plan
h. Spiral Staircase on site is not included in the plan
i. The basement of the plan has been converted to an event centre
*All these were not in the approved plan*
10. June 29, 2018: letter was sent to Music house to come and regularize its building plan.
11. Demolition notices were then sent when they failed to respond to the earlier request for the submission of AS – Built Plan for approval

|  The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari over his 800 metres walk from Daura Mosque to his private home on Tuesday.  GISTMANIA reported that Buhari had after prayers and slaughtering his ram on Tuesday, decided to walk home from the mosque. It was a journey of about 800 metres according to his aides who shared the news to reasure Nigerians that the President was strong enough for the challenges ahead. The report has since generated a lot of controversies and comments from Nigerian politicians, mostly from those in the opposition. In his reaction, Fayose suggested that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria should be involved in selection of Nigeria’s next president. He tweeted, “May be the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) should be the one to choose president for Nigeria since being fit to be president is only determined by 800m walk.” | | | | |

|  The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has told his supporters in Kwara State that he does not have anointed candidates among those vying for various elective posts, including governorship in 2019 elections.  He also said henceforth, there is nothing like the new and old Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members in the state, saying everybody has equal rights and opportunities in the party. Saraki spoke, yesterday, while briefing PDP stakeholders across the 16 local governments in the state at the banquet hall of Kwara State government house in Ilorin. According to him, “I have spared my time to come and personally meet you my people to make these clarifications. I am telling you directly that I have no anointed candidates for all the elective posts: governorship, Senate and all others.
“So nobody should tell you a lie that he’s or she’s my anointed candidates. You are hearing directly from my mouth now.
“I will not impose any candidate on you. At the right time, all of us will sit down and jointly agree on our candidates. |  Dr Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer, Mountain of Fire Ministries, MFM, at the maiden edition of Exsilio conference tagged: Success in the 21st Century, organised by Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, Akoka under Oloke Kolawole, project head, said that youths needed to look beyond varsity education to succeed.  Dr Olukoya in company of guests like Prof. Samuel Ishola Oni, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr Abubakar Suleimon, MD, Sterling Bank PLC represented by Moronfolu Fasinro, Chief Client Engagement Officer; Leonard Stiegeler, General Manager, Ringier Africa, AG; and Agatha Amata among others, explained that Nigerian youths needed to attain the university of success to be able to fight ignorance. “After leaving the university, there is another university you must attend called the university of success. And for you to attain success, you need five credits – godliness; destiny awareness; wisdom; knowledge and focus which will enable you fight ignorance.” Olukoya said. On the conference, Kolawole, the project head and a 400 level Economics student said that the event was aimed at equipping undergraduates after university education with skills to succeed in the larger world by bringing experts in public and private sectors to interact with the students. His words: “The idea behind this project is to enlighten students about the outside world. One thing we have noticed from the statistics taken is that most people do not know what to do after school. And some students are into lines they have no interest in. So, we decided to set up a conference that will address this issue thoroughly, that’s why we brought speakers from different sectors in life.

|  The joy of the parents of quintuplets delivered at Life International Hospital, Awka knew no bounds as the wife of Governor of Anambra state and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE) Chief. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano (Osodieme) visited the hospital today, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 and settled the medical bill incurred on delivery of the three boys and two girls.  Mrs Obiano on arrival commended the mother of the babies and thanked God for the blessings on Anambra state. Osodieme also praised the hospital for their wonderful facilities and staff which ensured safe delivery of the babies. She also noted that the existence of such world class hospital is a testimony to the security of lives and properties in Anambra state. Osodieme also charged the parents of the babies to redouble their efforts in order to ensure that the children get the best so as to achieve their life’s dreams, stressing that the excuse of limited resources should not deter them from their parental obligations to the babies. Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Ikechebelu, who had given five percent discount on the bills, said that the intervention of Osodieme tells a rare story of a mother whose sacrifices for her children is peerless, adding that the new hospital remains committed to the best.  The Pediatrician In-Charge at the hospital, who supervised the delivery processes Dr. Kenneth Okeke, said that the babies are doing well after spending two weeks in the neo-natal intensive care unit of the hospital as a result of the pregnancy timeframe which lasted approximately thirty-seven premature weeks. He solicited external help for the mother and the babies, noting that their nutritional demands have increased, and that dependence on Bosom milk was impossible given that supplementary diets are needed as well. Osodieme’s entourage included the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Women, Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka North, Hon Lawrence Onwuzuka, who gave the sum of hundred thousand Naira, and the Member Representing Orumba South at the State House of Assembly, Princess Nikki Ugochukwu, who supported with the sum of fifty thousand Naira, to relieve the burden from the family.  The quintuplets’ mother, Mrs. Nwaka said that the visit by Osodieme is a saving grace to the family. She stated that she had always heard of the Osodieme’s goodwill without knowing that she would one day be a beneficiary. She revealed that she was initially shocked by the ultrasound revelations, but carried on since she saw it as miraculous.
