41  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I am happy with my man – Gay Nigerian Chika answers your comments on: 12-06-2011 11:18 PM
After we reported that Gay Nigerian Chika Nwafor-Schwartz Visits Nigeria With German Husband. You sent us your comments. He has replied to your comments through Stella Dimokokorkus. This is what his message to you;

”Hello all, thanks for the comments. Nigerian men are not just straight but use the picture of wife to cover up and still sneaking out with one excuse or the other just to have a young boy they’re having sex with. And they always boast of their marriages and still go for boys – same to so many lesbians’ housewives. But I won’t be part of such even though for anything. I believe I have my life to live and have been good with which ever segxwal preference I see myself with. I still respect everyone, and thanks to those who call me names and those who claim that I’m evil. But one thing is certain, I’m not sleeping around. I am a well-reserved married man and I’m happy with my man. I’m also enjoying the best of my marriage. So please let’s live the way we see our life ok and stop discriminating.”

This year seems to start with mixed blessings for the Anambra State born Lawrence, because just as the death and subsequent burial of his beloved mother in April 2011 took the shines of his recently released movies and TV soaps, the sudden demise of his granddad came just a few days to the release of Pradah, a wave-making movie which he featured in.

Nollywoodgossip prays for God’s strength for Lawrence and familyat the time of trial.

47  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Ini Edo said she was going to slap me back – Uche Nwaogu on: 5-06-2011 01:10 PM
Not long ago, fast rising Nollywood actress Uche Nwaogu granted Nollywoodgossip and Exclusive interview. In the interview, the hardworking film interpreter who has featured in over 15 movies made public her on set clash with Ini Edo.

Today, we contacted the pretty faced actress to disclose in detail what really transpired between her and Ini Edo and below is her fearless response;

“A lot of people now hate me because I mentioned that in my interview. One stupid director attacked me online.

I know she [Ini Edo] does not like me since I entered the industry. We were shooting and I was told to slap her in a scene. The director told me to slap her and I did. I did not slap her hard, just very soft and she started shouting that she was going to slap me back.

So, I got upset and put her where she belonged with tongue-lashing. She left and said she was not going to continue the shoot. It was only when I said sorry that she came back.

She did that with Mercy Johnson when Mercy was coming up. Mercy was always crying because of her.

They said it is jealousy and that she feels threatened seeing an upcoming actress who stands up to her. The only person that knows how to finish her is Genevieve.

Honestly, a lot happened that on that day when we finally entered back on set, which I alone noticed. You know the crew members and how they can talk.”

Here’s what the handsome actor told Nollywoodgossip’s Live Online With Delia;

“What happened with Muma G and I was a planned deal. In fact, she asked me if we could pretend to be lovers and I told her that we have to ask our partners. My wife said she did not have any problems with that neither did her partner. So, we had that carried out. Actually, we acted that. We did that for the show and that was all. We are not dating and we’ll never date.”

Today, Nollywoodgossip got a tip-off through an email message which suggests that handsome Ghanaian actor Majid Michel may be the father of a baby being carried by one Zaina Cisse.

What made the story very worrisome is the fact that Majid is a happily married man and this will come as a shock to his beautiful wife.

Nollywoodgossip, still not totally believing the story, has reached out to Majid and would share his comment on this disturbing news.

In the email, John Dumelo was also said to be in the know about the secret affair and the pregnancy.

52  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I think my waist is my best body part – Genevieve Nnaji, Nollywood Actress on: 23-05-2011 03:46 PM
New-African-Woman-Magazine-Genevieve-Nnaji

With the release of her new movie, The Mirror Boy still grabbing headlines and the world media clamoring for her story, Africa’s Julia Roberts, Genevieve Nnaji, bares all in this interview with New African Woman obtained by Nollywoodgossip. Excerpts:

Do you see yourself as sexy and what’s the favorite part of your body?

I like to think that I’m sexy although I don’t always feel sexy. I think my waist is my best body part…I like my waist because it’s small and neat and gives me my hourglass figure (laughs).

What has been your favorite role to date?

Wow! I have enjoyed playing all the characters in the movies I have done. The Mirror Boy was fun. Ije was another movie which was great and challenging because it was shot in Hollywood among other Hollywood stars, but I would say my favorite to date is the Window of Glory where I played the role of a blind girl. I really got into my character and learnt a lot about myself at the same time.

You have starred in more than 100 movies, are there any roles you have not played?

There are still many roles left in me. I’m prepared to try any new thing and challenging. I would do any role except porn – no amount of money can get my clothes off.

The world is your oyster, who would you most like to star with?

Johnny Depp. I find him a very deep actor mostly because he represents what I represent, he acts for himself and he picks out roles that he enjoys; it’s not about the movie being commercial. He is acting for himself and picks out challenging characters to play. Acting should not be taken too seriously, it should be fun and he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

The gym – a great work out! I am very hyper in the morning so the gym is somewhere I can get rid of tension and gets me prepared both mentally and physically for the rest of the day which is usually long and tiring. I am not a screamer in the gym (laughs) but I like to zone out and plan my daily goals. I don’t see anybody at that point in time. I go into my inner self and put on my earphone listening to music and meditate about my future. I’m what you call a deep thinker. I love to run the most and use the treadmill or steppers as I work mostly on my legs and thighs plus my stomach.

What inspires and motivates you in life?

Fear of failure. I am driven by fear of not achieving what I set out to achieve and not meeting my standards. I can be pretty hard on myself. I’m very competitive so failure cannot be an option.

What is your ultimate goal?

I want to challenge myself as an actor some more. I don’t think I have reached my potential. There is still a hunger in me. I am still not completely satisfied. I won’t stop until I get an Oscar.

If you could do it all again what would you do?

Gosh, if I had it my way I would love to be a model, but I don’t have the height. If I could start my career again I would definitely go into the fashion world because I have been designing since primary school. But you can’t go back into time and the best thing about my job is that I get to dress up and pose all the time just like a model!

You are what is described as a ‘Yummy Mummy’ – someone who is career minded, ambitious and beautiful. However, you were also a teen mother – what advice would you give to other teen mums?

Thank you. I have never heard of that term, but I like to keep this part of my life private and I don’t like to talk about my daughter. But what I would say is, I completely believe in destiny. I think everybody has a dream and something they want to achieve so you should never give up on yourself. Learn to embrace everything life throws at you and learn to make everything work for you even your mistakes. Do not give up on your dreams as long as there is life, there is hope. When you have life, you should make the best of your time as possible because life is too short.

You’ve been romantically linked to several people, are there any wedding bells in the future?

Yes, I am dating, but there won’t be any chiming of any wedding bells although I do want to get married. I am looking for someone who can keep me excited because I get bored easily. I need someone who is there to support me, who is confident. I haven’t got the time to be massaging a man’s ego; he has to be confident in our relationship from the get-go!

Who is your ideal man?

We all want a handsome man, but ultimately we want one that is good inside. But I would love to meet someone with a Johnny Depp personality and with Boris Kodjo’s lips (laughs).

check out my interview with Kingsley Bassey who has featured in white hunter with Ini Edo and Mercy Johnson. you can read the interview here or click on the link to view his handsome picture in one of the biggest magazine in Nigeria.

Kingsley Christopher Bassey, who is from Cross River state, is one Nollywood actor to watch out for. The fast rising actor, who featured in white hunter and in many TV series, has acted alongside top Nollywood stars like Ini Edo and Mercy Johnson.

In this interview with Nollywoodgossip Making Stars, the young and easy going actor shares his dreams. Excerpts:

What are you working on right now?

Right now, I’m starting up a film Production Company amidst other things. That’s the future for me. I have a desire to produce movies and films that would meet internationally accepted standards; from the story, screenplay, cinematography, directing, editing, attention and creativity to every other aspects of production. But in the meantime, I’m involved in other productions as an actor.

Please tell us a little about yourself?

My names are Kingsley Christopher Reuben Bassey. I’m from Cross River State, commonly known as Calabar which happens to be the capital city of the state. But I lived most of my adult life in Lagos state.

Tell us about your previous works?

In 2003, I acted in Slaves of Lust and Desires. Then, I left the scene for a while and went back to school. When I finished from school, I worked for a while. And later, I started my own business so as to have the time to go back to acting. Because I knew that I wouldn’t have time for acting if I stick with a regular 9-5 job. But I needed money to pay the bills while I build a career in Nollywood, so I decided to start a service company. I’m into Brand Communication Services.

How many movies have you appeared in?

I’ve featured in 3 movies and 5 TV productions so far.

Which of your roles is the most challenging?

My role in a new TV production that’s not yet out. It required a lot of show of emotions. It’s one program I can’t wait to see on air. The title is, School, and it was produced by Manuel Productions.

What are the names of the movies you have featured in?

Some of my movies are, White Hunters and the concluding part Return of White Hunters. And some of my TV series are, about to wed, Madam Export, Living in Lagos, and many others.

Which known Nollywood stars have you worked with?

I’ve worked with Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele, Ini Edo, and John Njamah.

How and when did you get into Acting?

I got into acting when I was a little boy. I used to do drama in the church. But professionally, it was in 2003. A friend invited me to an audition at Surulere, I still remember that clearly. It was an audition by Black Gold Production owned by Pius Okugbere. I’m not sure if he is still in the business though.

Tell us about your first audition.

Oh my Gosh. I was very nervous. I got a script and was given time to learn it. And when I was called, ten minutes later, to do the scene with another actress, I didn’t feel ready. My hands were shaky and sweaty. But I delivered at the end and the producer was impressed. I didn’t have to read twice. I got penciled down for a role and that was very encouraging.

Kingsley Christopher Bassey
What were you doing before you entered into acting?

I finished High School in 1999 and ventured into music. I had been in the choir before that, but I started learning to play musical instruments while doing several odd jobs on the side.

Tell us about your venture into music?

My band had a large repertoire. We played all kinds of nice music; from African rhythms to country and jazz. We were just having fun doing what we enjoyed.

Is this your first ever international magazine interview?

That’s correct

Let’s talk a little about your love life. Are you married or seeing someone?

I’m seeing someone.

Tell us about the lucky girl?

(Laughs) actually, I’m the lucky guy. She is just amazing. I can fill volumes telling you about her. But I’ll just say she is simply amazing and we are in a good place in our relationship right now. She’s very supportive, understanding, caring and loving.

What are the qualities you like in a woman?

The ones I just mentioned (laughs), plus, I have to find her beautiful and attractive.

Tell us one thing that people don’t know about you.

A lot of people think I’m too confident or pompous, but that’s not true. I only seem that way when I’m acting it.

When you blow, don’t forget that Nollywoodgossip gave you your first ever international interview.

I can’t forget that. I feel great.

Is there anything I didn’t cover that you still want to add?

Maybe we should leave the rest for later when you have to interview me again and like you said; I go soon blow…hahaha.

Nollywoodgossip wishes you all the best.

Thank you so much.
54  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / EXCLUSIVE: In 2015 I’m Running For Senator – Zeb Ejiro, Nollywood Director, Tell on: 14-05-2011 07:14 PM

Zeb Ejiro

Zeb Ejiro is not only regarded as one of the Fathers of Nollywood, but also as one of the biggest Filmmakers to ever emerge from Nigeria. Ejiro, who hails from Isoko, Delta State, has, in his more than 27 years in the Nigerian entertainment industry, churned out major hits after hits. Some of the most notable movies from the creative hands of the man called Sheik are; Dormittilla, Ripples, Sakobi, Fatal Inheritance, Candle Light,  Just A Night, and several others.

In this EXCLUSIVE interview with NOLLYWOODGOSSIP‘s LIVE ONLINE WITH DELIA, Mr. Ejiro, who also owns a film school (academy) in Delta State, covered many topics that include film making, politics, and his new mandate to find a solution for the distribution network problem in the Nigerian movie industry. Excepts:

Now that the election is over, do you think there will be positive developments in Nigeria?

Of course there is going be a huge one, because first, President Goodluck Jonathan is God sent. I’m not saying that he is a perfect man, but if you look at what he is doing, you will know God is using him to correct a lot of things in this country. The first thing I’ll like to talk about is that we have free and fare election.

I remember his speech on CNN; he said a few things that are very remarkable:

He will make sure that Nigeria have free and fare election.
He is going to regenerate power to Nigerians.
And if you look at it, he has kept those promises he made. Anybody could have been following the INEC, but GEJ just allowed it to go the way it should be – that’s so great.  For him to have kept his promise, I strongly believe that he’s going to do even more.

Earlier this year, President Goodluck Jonathan gave a huge sum of money to the Entertainment Industry, is the fund affecting the Industry in any positive ways?

That money, as I speak to you now is with Central Bank, and two other Banks.  Nexim Bank and Bank of Industry are the two Banks that are controlling the access to the fund. I think people have been applying, yet nobody has come up to say they have accessed it or are able to get it yet.  People are coming together, so many are forming groups, organizations are also applying based on the condition they gave.  As I said before up till now, nobody has gotten it, but I believe that they will get it because it’s a promise the president made.

Zeb Ejiro
There are many fractions in Nollywood, and as a father, what can you tell us about it?

You know, the picture a lot of people give about Nollywood is not true. Actually yes, there are some problems here and there, but I don’t think there are so many fractions. We have association of movie producers and there is no problem there. We have association of voice-over artistes (avoa) Nigeria, there’s no problem there as well.  In Actors Guard, that is where we have a little problem, because the Industry has recognized Segun Arinze as the president.  Emeka Ike went to court and the court recently nullified Emeka’s appeal and recognized Segun Arinze as the authentic president of the AGN.

Every Industry you go to, you’ll one way or the other find a little problem amongst them.  The problems we have in Nollywood is not as big or huge as people think it is.  What producers and movie makers are doing today is finding out how to make good movies to better the industry.  I don’t think anybody is fighting anybody.  The only problem we had was the fight of presidency in Actor’s Guard, but all that is over now.

Zeb Ejiro on location
What are the changes you’ve witnessed over the years in the industry?

A whole lot of changes are there already. Last night we attended one big premier of a movie called Tango with me featuring Genevieve Nnaji, Joke Silva etc, and directed by Mamhood AliBalogun. Anybody that saw the movie will tell you that it raises a standard. I know you must have also heard of IJE, featuring Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola and produced by Chineze Anyaene -  that one too was shot on Celluloid.  Figurine was not shot on Celluloid, but with a higher definition Format. We are beginning to raise the standard and that standard is that, nobody will shoot a movie that is less than the quality of the movie that is coming out at the moment.

So if you want to get a good movie, if you want people to watch your movie, or you want to stay in the movie business, You have to make a good movie.  We are really raising standards now and very soon Nigeria is going to be number one movie Industry in the world.

Tell us about your new Soap Classique?

Classique is television series. It’s called Classique – The House Of Style.  The idea is supposes to be an agency…a corporate agency for modeling, multinational and what have you.  That was the original idea of Classique. But one of the directors in the company always bring ideas that they could engage in many other things. He is like, we could extend our services to do marriage counseling as well, but that keeps causing conflict in the company from time to time.

Unusual things happen at the company, you’ll see deaf person come to sing what they want to sing, untalented and crazy music artists come to say they want to collaborate with American Artists. There are lots in Classique and I think that this is going to be the biggest and hottest television series that will be in network because anything goes into Classique.

Zeb Ejiro on location
Do you feature guest artist in Classique too?

Sure, it features different stars every week. Football Stars will be featured as well -  that’s the kind of soap it is.

Many Starts I interviewed always mention that they started with Zeb, as a star maker, which Star are you making now in Classique?

In Classique everybody, apart from Mary Eboka who has done major movies with me, and a few others; the rest of them are young upcoming Movie Artists.

Are you also into politics?

As a patriotic Nigeria, I fought for the good leadership in Nigeria. I supported President Goodluck Jonathan, and I personally campaigned for him. I made a major speech for him because I believe he is the right person to rule Nigeria for now.

So are we going to see banners that say you are contesting for any elective post any time soon?

Yes, in 2015, I’m going to be running for Senator.

Apart from Classique, which other projects are you working right now?

I’m doing a lot of things; I have the biggest Film School in Nigeria which I set up last year.  It’s called School of Broadcast Academy, and we have raised it to Polytechnic level now. The school is recognized and approved by National Board of Physical Education, the same body that approves polytechnics in the country.  We do two-year programs in Film Scripting and we also do broadcasting as well. So that is one major project I embarked on for two years now.

I will also be doing a big movie for Bayelsa State Government. I just got the script a few weeks ago and I’m going to commence shooting immediately after the election, so these are the things I’m doing at the moment…

(cut in) Sorry, back to your school, are there students already there now?

Sure, a lot of students, especially those who are learning to work as Filmmakers.

Your Brother, Chico Ejiro, is also one of the biggest Filmmakers in Nigeria today, are there any projects both of you are working on together?

My brother and I have a channel that is called African Films Channel. The channel shows Nigeria and all African Soap, all Television Series, Comedy etc.

As a father in the industry, what is your advice to young people that are just coming into Nollywood?

You know, before you enter into any industry you must be able to know exactly what you want to do in the industry. Some people just enter without knowing what they really want to do and this is the problem.  For example, when I came into the industry, I said I want to be the man behind the cameras. I wanted to be the tower behind the camera.  I didn’t want to act. I didn’t want to be in front of the camera for any reason. I wanted to be able to work and be one of the biggest movie directors in the country, and I stuck to that.  And even when I had offers to act, I turned them down because I wanted to concentrate on being behind the cameras.

So my Advice for them is to know what they want to do, and always do one thing at a time. To be very focused in what they’re doing, because that is the only way they can achieve their dreams.

Where do you see Nollywood in the nearest future?

Nollywood is moving forward. Reports have it that Nigeria is the second movie producing nation in the world today.  I know very well that in the next few years, we are going to be the biggest movie making country in the world, because first, we have the story, we have creative people and we also have the population. Nigeria has talented Stars, all we needed now is fund and that is coming gradually. With President Jonathan’s intervention we are going to create a dimensional Network.

And has President Jonathan really intervened?

Sure, last time he invited Nollywood, I made a speech that there should be a distribution recipe for Nollywood, and I was given the responsibility to come up with the scheme, which I’ve done already. You know by the time we did all these, Nollywood will not be number two again but number one. There will be a lot of collaborations between Nollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood.

Could you please tell us your dreams or visions for 2011?

Well, I have a big dream for the school. We have passed the stage of setting up the school and the next stage is for the school to have its own Radio Station. Stage three is for the school to have its own distribution network, because the whole thing that the student will be doing: the soap, movies, etc., will be showing on its own distribution networks.

Then the other one I called the last stage is for the school to have its own television station, because it has to be complete.  The people that are doing Broadcasting should be able to practice what they are doing either in the school TV or radio station. Presently we have the biggest movie Industry in Ikoyi.  These are the things I’m planning for this country and I know I’m going to achieve them.

What qualification does one need to enter the school?

The same qualifications that you need to enter university and polytechnics. The school is not just any movie academy. It’s a school that is equal to polytechnics level.  So to enter the school, you must have your credits just like the same qualification you need to enter university and Polytechnics in Nigeria.

Please describe Zeb Ejiro to NOLLYWOODGOSSIP’s readers?

I’m Zeb ejiro by name, an easy going person.  A lot of people, when they are far away from me, feel that this man is too tough. But when they come close, they are always surprised that this man is as simple as any other person. I am a very hardworking person. I‘m a perfectionist and always like to do my things right.  Just like any other person, I’m very simple, but I always love to do my things right.

So what people do not know about you is that you are an easy going person?

Sure, some people don’t really know that.  Sometimes when they call me up and request to come see me in the office, and when they request for my address and I text it to them, they’re always surprised. They often disclosed to me later  that they were even afraid to ask for my address.

Another funny one is when I go to lectures in the school or go to give a speech to pupils and drop my number to them and tell them to call me up if they have any problems or if there’s anything they think I could help them with, they are always surprised.

Is there anything you will like us to add I did not cover in this interview?

(Laughs) I think you have really covered every area.

NOLLYWOODGOSSIP wises you the best.

Thanks you so much.

Kynthia who just finished shooting a TV soap has featured in 6 movies and has acted alongside notable nollywood stars.

Recently, the elegant beauty sat down with NOLLYWOODGOSSIP‘s NOLLYWOODGOSSIP MAKING STARS  for an interview. Excerpts:

What are you working on right now?

Well, I just finished a TV soap.

But her mum wouldn’t let her, because she doesn’t want her daughter to make the same mistakes she made when she was her age. It’s very challenging and educating as well.

Tell us about your first audition

Wow it was a very crazy one, especially the modelling auditions. It’s always very crowded. I was so shy and I was all alone.

With the movies I was more relaxed. I got the job and played the role of a blind girl. It was very challenging also.
