What is this nonsense with the "new Nigerian Singers". Everyone is auto-tuned.

As per this kid, not sure who he really is, but I think this makes absolutely no sense. Good luck to those who are fans.
2  Forum / The Buzz Central / Re: Who Wins Nigeria’s Got Talent? Meet 10 Finalists Competing For N10Mn Grand Prize (Page 3) on: 8-12-2012 02:00 AM
Amazing!

I think the winner should be Godwin, the guy who played the violin, or the winner should be Chuka, the guy who rapped. I'm thinking its going to be one of these two people. Otherwise, I can't think of anybody else winning the prize.

Amarachi was great, but I think she is spent right now. The same reason the lil P kid was not selected, same reason(s) Amarachi and the other kid who sang gospel as well as the two ballet kids should not be selected. I think these are great kids with prospect, but it appears they're not quite ready for "big time". That kiddie tune, I think is an impediment. Again, my opinion.
At the least, the dancers "Spatan" should win. Their dance moves shows a prospect in the Nigerian music/dance industry. The "dog" is okay, but I don't think he should win because of the competing interest mentioned earlier.

The rest, I just don't see enough display of potential market for them in Nigeria. Would you pay 1000 Naira to see that guy do beat box? The guy who makes sound with his mouth. I doubt it. Answer the same question for the dancers, the rapper, chuka, and Godwin. I think you might say, "likely".
3  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Top Delta State Female Government Worker Beaten And molestd By driver on: 29-10-2012 03:38 AM
Wow,
These guys are criminals and should be punished. However, if you're highly placed, be mindful of the lowly. Conversely, some crooks would still kill their bosses, regardless of whether he or she is sweet and lovely. Everything na God. I think whether you're nice to them or not, just make sure say you hold your side too. Naija na jungle. My take? be nice to them and also be security conscious.

I was in Nigeria last year:lived freely and fortified. Didn't try to impress anybody. Drove a simple car and carried my***** everywhere I went. I had a driver briefly and then told him to chill out. We traveled from Lagos to Asaba,I feed this dude so much he was almost sleeping on the wheel. I had to take over the wheel. I told him "get in the back seat and sleep". Before then I had warned him, don't call me aga. Call me by my first name. Little stuff like this matters.

Bottom line, the devil is the devil just about anywhere. On your part, be as careful as you could be and leave it all to God. As noted earlier, respect everyone around you. That is one thing lacking in Nigeria. Majority treat each other with absolute disrespect. You're superior to anybody you have more money than. That is a failed society as a matter of fact.
4  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Patience Jonathan Will return Home Today after weeklong Medical Treatment Abroad on: 12-10-2012 05:21 PM
While I don't pray for the untimely death of Mrs Jonathan, I truly don't care if she dies. There is no doubt Jonathan's action or inaction had cost several lives. Who cares if Obasanjo dies today? except the few who are eating from his table. A man after 8yrs in office not even the lagos-Benin road is fixed. The same road where hundreds of preventable accidents have cost lives. oh sorry, those lives are less of a life compared to OBJ's.

We have no office for the first lady, yet billions of naira meant for the little child, who perished in our dilapidated hospital, have been spent on the office of the first lady. Truthfully, every lips that have kissed BAAL should DIE!

I wish she recovers fully, come back home with a new reality take on life. Let her come back and weep for kids dying of treatable diseases. Let her come back and chase off sycophants that are ruining her and her husband and invariably killing us as a nation. This is no playing matter, she had thrust herself as a public figure and truly, the public is not all happy. That being the case, you will hear comments like" so this woman no die?"people are outraged.
It really makes me sick when I take a look at the "Nigerian picture".Whether you agree or not, the leaders, to a greater extent, are to be blamed.

Sounded more Liberian to me, seriously, an average Nigerian guy, even the once still struggling with UME are able to speak proper english.........this kid seems like he is having a hard time.....

Honestly, I was not able to bring myself to listening to the whole thing.......

You're right my friend, this is a very sad representation.....I listen to guys like MI and Psquare and I feel, "def. not bad", but this one?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is BAD and thats just being euphemistic about it.
7  Forum / The Buzz Central / Re: Huhon Ni99a : Vic O. Second best music video 2011 + Bayybee on: 11-01-2011 08:15 AM
I could not stand listening to that any longer.....not sure whether to laugh or cry at and for this kid......the song is not only bad, the acting and the video is bad, I mean really bad....at least learn from previous videos.

I thought Jym Ike and Omotola were bad, this guy makes Jym Ike looks like Jimmy Hendrix.....

I know there is a chance to improve, but this is just bad...I mean really bad for a start.

I think post like this should be deleted, but freedom of expression.
10  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Is visiting Nigeria dangerous for Polish woman? on: 22-10-2010 11:45 PM
@ poster, I need to warn you that, in this forum, there exist a plethora of young kids, who would be very quick to jump at you and use abusive words, please disregard them. While Nigerians are very respectful, there are alot who would insult you pretty well, as long as they have nothing to gain from you. Now back to the subject.

1. I'm almost sure your husband is a Nigerian. Very much doubt there many Africans out there excited about claiming Nigerian citizenship. Our reputation is too good for that.

2. Your husband as u had hinted may have other reasons why he doesn't want you to go to Nigeria, security may or may not be one of them. There is a strong likelihood that security is indeed one of such reasons.

3. Is Nigeria dangerousness? You bet it is. Would you get in trouble if you visit. I could almost bet you my next pay check, that you will not be hurt at all in Nigeria.

4. I once had a white girlfriend who wanted to visit Nigeria. A Nigerian Prof. who hadn't visit Nigeria in years went on his knees begging this girl not to go. I told her, please go if you want to. Long story short...she went to Nigeria-mind you, unaccompanied by me- plan was to stay 2 weeks, guess how long she stayed? 6weeks. She loved it it...in 11months she went back again. So please, Nigeria does not eat her inhabitants.

5. I will not lie against the truth, Nigeria is tough, but with the smallest caution you'll be fine. I was in Bronx New York in 2002, now thats what you call dangerous, not Nigeria....what we have in Nigeria are mere area boys.....people who are angry because they're hungry....in the ghetto in New York these phyukers carry guns and kill for the fun of it....if you must fear, fear the Bronx, not Ibadan, please.

So bottom line, fear not, go if your husband wants you to go, by the way, tell him to stop being paranoid, Naija is not that bad. Just lay low and you will be okay. Personally, my job will not let me visit Naija, they said, I need to get some kind of govt. security anti-terrorism training...I laughed and told them, for where? me when don dodge bullets tire for warri..na today?. So my friend, go if you want to...its no biggies.
11  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: LEKKI; Most beautiful CHURCH(Budget-$14,000,000;2000-seating capacity) come 2013 on: 22-10-2010 07:51 AM
@PNWAgod, you could not be any more wrong....I think something more pleasing to God is helping his children, put a smile in that little

homeless child's face, help that person who is suffering endlessly from a treatable diseases. Jesus said in as much as you do this to one of mine, you did it to me. Not sure he said do it for ME.

There is a preacher in Nigeria that I totally love and respect, but the jet flying thing? just doesn't cut it. In a country where we sadly have no responsive govt.

Church needs to stand up and eleviate poverty. Know why? because even the poor in Nigeria still gives to the church.

In reality, the house that we need to build and make beautiful is the church in out hearts, not the physical building.

Its uncautionable to make such an overriding statement. But you did get the attention, I guess that was what you were looking for, not an actual intellectual discus.
13  Forum / The Buzz Central / Re: Be My Man Official Music Video : ASA on: 15-10-2010 07:12 AM
Its not about the looks.....there is just something not right with the song and video. Fact is, Asa is got to compete with herself, right now, it seems like she is just not catching up at all.

14  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Naija Graduate's. on: 27-09-2010 08:20 PM
This has been a subject of concern to me for a while.....so I just can't help but put in my own "two cent" in the subject.
First, its sad that even a Liberian guy has the guts to say something too, thanks to the other poster who corrected him. I live in the USA and the people with the meanest spoken English-from Africa-are Liberians.
Now, though it has been pointed out, the original poster could not even write correctly.
Also, I think we're experience a generational decline. More and more students have become complacent with their studies
The internet is not helping as such, unless of course you make it help you. People post stuff and use such spellings  as "ur sebi, abi, deir,cm,the list is endless. In the use of English language, code switching may be welcomed, but an outright code mixing as in pidgin English could be demeaning to the writer.

I'll tell you right a way, I'm a pretty good writer, but do I make mistakes? you bet I do. However, some mistakes are scandalous.

get this right, accent is not the same as bad grammar, so when you talk about Indians and others in Japan, its a little different. I sure would not hold you responsible for bad English usage just because you speak with an accent. So the age long lie that, English is not my mother tongue is indeed, outdated.

How can we solve this problem? I do not think its within any of us here to pontificate on that subject. It all goes back to the government to reshape our school system. I must add that, it is true that folks do murder the language in Nigeria, its sad but a pathetic truth. As far as this forum is concern, please and please, its not that hard, read your post over again, spell check before you post. Once again, it all goes down to individual laziness.
15  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: 82 foreigners to receive Nigerian citizenship on: 21-08-2010 02:53 AM
Why do people seek naturalization in far away lands? why do they travel thousands of miles? why do they want to be called by another's name and identity? The answer is always been the same from time immemorial....its COMMERCE,my friends...COMMERCE
As the first postal rightly said, they all mostly would be Lebanese, Indians and Chinese. Why? these are the folks while some of us are overseas and even at home suffering, these guys are carting away our collective wealth.

They want to be Nigerian citizens so as to further plunder the system....while most Nigerians are willing to renounce theirs, these guys are looking for for it.

Once they line their pockets....take what they're out for, they will gladly toss the green passport and head for their homes
16  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Another Scandal Rocks Ambrose Alli University on: 25-07-2010 03:30 AM
hey! lets not be in a hurry to judge a book by it's cover...slow down.

In 1998 I had a roommate-in Ife- who looked and talked like a street motor boy, but he was one of the best medical student back then, so go figure.

While you may be right, its unsavory to unequivocally take a position as harsh as the one you had taken.

Its shocking to admit that, there are some Nigerian undergraduates who are incapable of completing a proper sentence. But hey, its the system.

Even on here-in this forum-you see it every now and then. You wonder whats really wrong with these posters......sometimes I think its a joke, but hey, its for real.

what a shame.........

By all means its a shame.

Whats the verdict? if you asked me, I'll say based on the prevailing Nigerian culture, my judgement would be as follows:
The prof be suspended without pay for six months-no jail term-
The girl be made to retake the exams and be regraded by a different prof.
On the count of abduction and extortion, the girl and her cohorts be placed on criminal probation and be ordered to do 300 plus hours of community services-no jail term-
new laws protecting weak and vulnerable students from profs. be enacted
This is just my imperfect take on it. In other situations, after facts are presented, the girl, the profs and the cohorts would all be going to jail for one reason or the other. Granted the girl-like most other girls-is the victim here, but the approached used is unacceptable.
18  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Another Scandal Rocks Ambrose Alli University on: 25-07-2010 12:25 AM
There is a crime committed here, that is granted.
Student and her friends committed a crime-as per video content-
The professor -if investigation shows otherwise-may have also committed a crime. Too bad the girls video did not tell us that the man asked for sex, had at one time had sex with her and that she was wrongfully given a failing grade.

Someday said its in the body polity of the Nigerian social fabrics....that OBJ himself slept with female ministers...that 80% of Nigerian profs. do it.........THE BIG QUESTION then is, does all these make it RIGHT? Absolutely NOT

Think about the girl who is graduating with a 3rd class instead of a 2.1.........think about the girl who could not graduate
How about the married Christian girl who had to sleep with a prof against her religious stance.......the list of pain and sorrows caused by such unethical behavior by those in power is endless. I mean the girl is placed in an irrefutable dilemma.  One last one, think about it, if that girl was your own pregnant wife......I mean your beautiful undergraduate wife being asked for sex or she graduates with a 3rd class instead of a 2.1 that you both had worked hard for.....It all just makes me sick to the stomach.

@ Kelly, while its okay to look at it from your perspective, its surely not the safest way to view the whole issue.

The said girl, I just learnt is a 400 level Engineering student can't be referred to as an illiterate, then again, you may be able to do that considering the quality of grammar usage, the cohorts and the entire modus operandi.

The did soil their case against the prof. by asking for money and making the situation look like  a hostage and blackmail saga.
I wondered, could she be safely classified as the type who goes after old men? I think she is rather more of a victim.
20  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Another Scandal Rocks Ambrose Alli University on: 24-07-2010 11:28 PM
There are a few issues inherent in this scenario. The lecturer has a right to sleep with anybody he so choses, however, he doesn't have to force any unwilling person. Using the mantle of a professorship to get segxwal favor is an anathema

Its sad to put a poor young girl between the rock and a hard place.......I feel the girl's pain

Its a shame the prof. behaved in such a despicable way. Once again, they all do in Nigeria
