| | Meet Kristina Rei, the woman who now has the world’s biggest lips and still hope for more
She’s only 22 and has spent £4,000 on lip injections in the hopes of resembling her favourite film heroine, Jessica Rabbit.
The nail technician from St. Petersburg, Russia was convinced her thin lips were ugly, so she opted to get a lip job – 100 of them - and aims to make her enormous pout even bigger!
Speaking about her plump pout, Rei said: “I think I look fantastic and it makes me happy. Sometimes strangers shout names at me in the street “like big lips” but I don't care. I want to go more extreme. I want to look like a cartoon character.”
She added: “I am addicted to it - I love it.”
Rei has wanted her lips enhanced since she was four years old, and says she was always insecure about her appearance - and childhood teasing didn’t help her confidence. Russian TV adverts that promote cosmetic surgery are common, she said, giving her the idea at a very young age.
She got her first injection at 17, and hasn't looked back. Rei can eat, speak and kiss the same way she did before and says she hasn’t suffered any painful after-effects.
She said: “Other than the way I look, my lips haven't had a big impact on my life, so I'm definitely not going to stop now.”
Consultant plastic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides of 111 Harley St. told Yahoo! Lifestyle: “Kristina's obsession with the lip injections means she may suffer from body dysmorphia and this would not make her a good candidate for more cosmetic enhancement.”
He believes she maybe concerned with society’s perception of beauty he said: “People associate very thin lips with ageing and full lips with youth and trustworthy qualities.”
Dr Alexandrides added: “In the long run her injections are not good and go against good aesthetics.”
The beauty addict plans to have more injections as she feels her lips are “definitely too small at the moment.”
She said: “My big lips have helped boost my confidence. Even my parents are happy for me. They really don’t care about my appearance. Some of my friends have told me I shouldn’t go any bigger but I’m not satisfied yet.”
Beyond her lips Rei hopes to have even more cosmetic work done in the future, including a boob and nose job and pointed ears “like an elf.”

Briefing newsmen on the incident in Maiduguri yesterday, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Midenda said that the command had sometime last week received a threat message that the Cadet Police Officers screening exercise scheduled to commence yesterday would be disrupted by a faceless group.
The threat he said informed the Command to beef up security at all police formations in the troubled city.
He explained that at about 12:15pm, a man aged about 25 years gate crashed into the police Headquarters in an ash coloured Honda Accord Saloon Car, with registration number AP 851 ABJ, knocking down policemen at the Main gate and headed towards the Main Building .
CP Midenda stressed that, this alerted the armed policemen on guard within the premises and opened fire on the driver who immediately slumped on the steering.
He disclosed that on approaching the vehicle, the vehicle was discovered to be loaded with gas cylinders connected together with wires. He said that the Police bomb disposal unit was immediately called in and successfully defused the Improvised Explosive Device, IED.
Items recovered from the vehicle according to the CP included, six Gas cylinders of 13.6kg weight with its wirings, one air conditioner gas cylinder and two 25litres jerry-cans of fuel. Other items are one tin of ABRO can of five litre volume of chemicals and one acid orange drum of 28kg weight.
He attributed the success recorded to God Almighty and the prayers of concerned citizens to restore peace to the state. He stated that investigation has commenced into the incident, and urged members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies in the cause of fighting terrorism, even as he enjoined them not to panic, but to go about their normal businesses in the state.
Eleven killed in Plateau
Eleven people were, however, confirmed dead in two separate attacks on villages around the Plateau State capital early Monday by yet to be identified gunmen.
A man and seven members of his household were murdered in cold blood at Heipang village at midnight while another three were killed at about the same time at Korot, Sabongida both in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. Inhabitants of the two villages alleged that the attackers were dressed in army uniforms claiming that four identity cards belonging to military personnel were picked at the scene of the attack at Heipang.
Some of the villagers in Heipang who spoke to journalists said they heard gunshots at around 10 minutes past midnight around the residence of one Nnaji, a resident of the town and saw a vehicle with people dressed in military uniform drive off from the scene when they came out to find out what was the matter.
They later found that Nnaji and seven members of the family had been shot dead. The killers at Korot were said to have been dressed in black but accompanied by men in army uniform. Confirming the killings, the state government through a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr.Yiljap Abraham, said the attack was carried out by yet to be identified people.
He said: “The Plateau State Government rises in strong condemnation and disapproval of these unprovoked attacks on peaceful communities. These attacks are totally unacceptable conduct by people who appear determined to cause pain and grief in communities that have enjoyed peace in the recent past.”
He said government has directed security chiefs in the state to investigate and bring to justice those bent on bringing grievous harm to the peaceful people of the state and advised the people to be vigilant as security was the duty of all. Spokesman of the Military Special Task Force in the state, Capt. Charles Ekeocha who also confirmed the killings said men of the force moved to Heipang on learning of the attack but were allegedly attacked by youths in the area who accused them of complicity in the attack. He said the incident resulted in the death of a member of the vigilante team in the area when soldiers opened fire in defence against the attack on them (soldiers).

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ihejirika speaking at a a three- day Nigerian Army Law Seminar in Abuja, yesterday, said the army did not like quelling riots and other domestic eruptions with force but was now prompted by the sophistication of the arms of troublemakers. According to him the weapons in the arsenal of trouble makers include rocket launchers, AK 47 rifles among others.

| AWKA- IRATE youths at Governor Peter Obi’s home town, Agulu, in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, weekend, burnt down the police post in the town following the killing of a middle–aged man by a policeman at a check-point. An eye-witness said the man, who hailed from Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area, had pleaded with the policeman to pardon a commercial motorcyclist who allegedly refused to offer N20 bribe to the police. Angered by the man’s interference, the policeman was said to have slapped him and in the ensuing scuffle, the policeman allegedly shot him. He died instantly. Vanguard gathered that immediately the man fell down, the policeman and his colleagues ran away. The youths who witnessed the incident were said to have mobilised and set the nearby police station ablaze. Policemen on duty at the station fled as the youths chanted war songs. The incident caused a stampede. The popular Nwagu area where the incident took place was immediately deserted. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, confirmed the incident, describing it as unfortunate. | [/b]Sharjah: The first St Philip the Apostle Orthodox Church in the UAE will open its doors to the public in Sharjah Saturday. The 1,800 square-metre complex is not only a church, but a cultural hub. Construction work on the project began in September 2007 after His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, allotted the land to the Russian Orthodox community. Talks on the project first began in May 2005 with the visit of the first official delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church, lead by the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad. Yuri Sidorenko, a Russia businessman and chairman of the EDAPS Consortium, who is the warden of the new complex, said the building was constructed for the 200,000 Orthodox church members living in the country — mostly in Sharjah. Sidorenko took financial responsibility for the building of the church. He said: "A business that solely [makes] profit is hardly a success", pointing out that a devout businessman will never find happiness until his business becomes a tool that spreads spiritual values and that improves people's lives. "An entrepreneur is a person who generates the power of life through projects. Motivation is founded either in the desire to develop and enhance life and the community around you, or in the wish to make as much money as possible and satisfy vanity." he said. The widespread perception is that money and spirituality are incompatible, and Sidorenko believes the purpose of life is to reach a connection with God. The 15-year-old U.S. citizen who confessed to killing four people and hanging their beheaded bodies off a bridge is now going to prison in Mexico. On Tuesday, a judge sentenced Edgar "El Ponchis" Jimenez Lugo to four years in prison--the maximum allowed for a minor according to Mexican law--on homicide, kidnapping, and drugs and weapons charges. Born in San Diego but raised in Mexico, Lugo was arrested last December when trying to fly back into the United States with his sister to meet their mother and told reporters thereafter that he'd started killing at age 11 after drug cartels drugged and threatened him. The arrest came after a video of two young boys posing next to corpses and guns surfaced on YouTube in November--Lugo was apparently an accomplice to those murders.
The horrific images became an illustration for how Mexican drug cartels recruited an increasing number of adolescents to do their dirty work.
The New York Times reports some sobering numbers: Of the more than 35,000 people killed in organized-crime-related violence since President Felipe Calderón began a crackdown in 2006, an estimated 5 percent have been minors.
The Mexico attorney general’s office, in an October report, said the number of minors charged with drug-related crimes had increased to 810 in 2009 from 482 in 2006, a period in which thousands of federal police officers and soldiers swarmed several states to reduce crime.

| At the Indiana State Fair concert Saturday night of the country music duo Sugarland, strong winds estimated at between 60 and 70 mph blew over the stage as an audience of 12,000 waited for the band to perform. The State Police special operations commander and the fair's Executive Director "decided it was time to evacuate the crowd," according to the Indianapolis Star. But before that could happen, winds collapsed the massive stage, which crumbled into the crowd, ultimately killing five and injuring more than 40. The fear and pandemonium -- not to mention the terrifying visual of actually seeing a huge stage collapse into an audience -- is harrowingly captured in a concert-goer's video (below). "It really did look like slow motion," one woman in attendance said. It's unclear whether the rest of the fair will continue as scheduled, although the band canceled its performances for Sunday, The AP reports.
