Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Pastor Albert Odulele Sentenced to 14 Months in Prison |
on: 7-04-2011 12:29 PM
| Pastor Albert Odulele of Glory House Church, who pleaded guilty to segxwal molestation of young boys, has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment. According to the case progression personnel at Woolwich Crown Court, he bagged eight months on the first count, and six months on the second count. The disgraced pastor will serve both sentences simultaneously, and will therefore spend a maximum of eight months in prison. Beside the jail term, Dr. Albert Odulele will appear in the sex offenders register for five years. Delivering his ruling, the presiding Judge Charles Byers who labelled the pastor as an “opportunistic” and “intelligent man” who would have known his behavior “was wrong”, remarked: “You were a man in a position of trust and who was well respected. People turned to you for advice and no doubt for comfort.” However, in a pre-sentencing report Albert Odulele affirmed: “I am ashamed of my behaviour as homosegxwality is at odds with my religious beliefs. I am extremely distraught and upset at the hurt and distress I have caused the victims.” Pastor Odulele admitted the assault of a 14 year-old boy, and a 21 year-old man at the Bexley Magistrates Court. Huhuonline.com reported previously, in 2003, that Albert Odulele was watching television with a young boy, whom he had “assumed paternal influence”. Once the boy fell asleep the shameless and hypocritical Oduelele put his hand in his underpants and fondled him. In the word of the boy, “I did not know what to do and was too scared to move”. Subsequently, the boy was left traumatised” and lost interest in academic work, before telling his mother about the abuse. When confronted by the boy’s mother in spring last year, Odulele fell to his knees, crying and asking for forgiveness. In 2004, he touched the inner thigh of a pastor while sharing a bed with him and another man at the Dartford Bridge Hilton. The man brushed off the advances of Odulele, the “guiding light and father figure” of the church, before being touched again, the court heard. However, his twin brother Ola-Vincent Odulele, (formerly Pastor Taiwo Odulele) has taken over the affairs of Glory House International. http://NaijaInfoSite.blogspot.com/2011/04/pastor-albert-odulele-sentenced-to.html | | |

Forum / Politics / ACN’s chartered plane not sabotaged – FG |
on: 10-03-2011 11:59 AM
| The Federal Government on Wednesday denied a claim by the Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation that an accident involving an aircraft bearing the Vice Presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Fola Adeola, at the Bauchi Airport was an act of sabotage. “No plane crash-landed, the aircraft had already landed and was taxing before the incident happened. There was no crash-landing, no sabotage”, Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Fidelia Njeze, told journalists at the end of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council in Abuja. The FEC meeting was presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo. The FG stand coincided with the release of the report of preliminary investigation into the incident by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. The report said eight goats strayed across the runway and that the aircraft hit and killed two of the goats. It also said the flap on the left hand side of the aircraft was damaged. A chartered aircraft with number 5BN-BNR conveying Adeola and other party leaders, including the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Boss Mustapha, and former National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Yusuf Alli, reportedly crash-landed and ran into herd of rams and goats at the Bauchi Airport runway on Tuesday. Another aircraft conveying the ACN Presidential candidate, Nuhu Ribadu, and other party chieftains, including a former governor of Lagos State and leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, was also said to have hovered in the air for about one hour while the runway was being hurriedly cleared of the rams and goats. The ACN chieftains were in Bauchi for the party’s presidential campaign rally. The Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation had said the incident was an act of sabotage and asked for urgent investigation. However, the FG said the chartered Hawker Sydney HS-125 aircraft conveying Adeola and other chieftains of the ACN had landed safely at the airport before the invading rams ran onto the runway. Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, also described the ACN’s presidential campaign organisation’s accusation as “undue politicisation” of the incident. Maku said, “Council received a report from the Minister of Aviation concerning the incident at the Bauchi Airport. “Council expressed regrets over the incident and also expressed its best wishes to the ACN over the incident. “Council is happy that the passengers of the aircraft came out hale and hearty, otherwise it would have been a very sad development for our country. “From the report we received, the aircraft had already landed before some sheep strayed to the runway. http://www.nigerianewstoday.com.ng/nigeria-acn%e2%80%99s-chartered-plane-not-sabotaged/ | | |

Forum / Politics / Attahiru Jega to INEC officials: No more room for misbehavior |
on: 8-03-2011 03:04 PM
| CHAIRMAN of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, yesterday said that the impact of the changes he initiated upon assumption of office were being clouded by the past misdeeds of the electoral umpire. He did not spare the Commission’s officials of blame in Nigerians’ continued waning faith in INEC’s ability to conduct credible polls in April as he accused them of colluding with corrupt politicians to manipulate past elections. Jega spoke yesterday in Abuja at a three-day retreat for electoral officers (EOs) drawn from the 774 local councils in the country. According to him, because of the indecent conduct of INEC officials in the past, a lot of Nigerians do not still believe that the commission was capable of conducting free, fair and credible elections next month. There were also indications yesterday that 63 political parties are set to sign a code of conduct with INEC on peaceful conduct of the forthcoming polls. The revised conduct document was ratified during a recent retreat held between INEC and the parties in Calabar, Cross River State. Mrs. Funmi Wakama, the Programme Manager, Media and Outreach of the International Republican Institute (IRI), the facilitators of the event, said yesterday that the revised code of conduct would guide the political parties on how to comport themselves before, during and after the elections. A similar pact was signed in 2006 ahead of the 2007 polls. Jega, who admonished the electoral officers to conduct themselves in an honest, decent and transparent manner at the event with the theme: “Free, fair and credible elections in April,” said “Nigerians view us with mixed feelings; there are so many Nigerians who still worry whether INEC can deliver free, fair and credible elections. There are Nigerians who feel that the enormous changes taking place in the commission can permeate to the grassroots to ensure free and fair elections. http://www.nigerianewstoday.com.ng/attahiru-jega-to-inec-officials-no-more-room-for-misbehavior/ | | |

Forum / Politics / Obasanjo : I was tricked to attend Bode George’s reception |
on: 5-03-2011 05:48 PM
| Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday revealed that he was tricked to attend the reception ceremony recently held in honour of Bode George who regained freedom after completing a two year jail term.Mr Obasanjo made this known in an interview with newsmen while preparing for his 74 birthday anniversary at his Hilltop Private residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, scheduled to hold today (Saturday). He stressed that his attendance of the event was totally in error. “You got it wrong again. I was not part of the celebration of Bode Goerge. He sent a passionate message to me from prison urging me to attend a family church thanksgiving and I believe that for whatever any family is giving thanks in the church or in the mosque and he invites me and I am able to go there, I will go there, whether it is for marriage, for burial, house warming or christening a child.” Mr Obasanjo said. “But when I got to the church, the atmosphere I found was more than a family affair. And I even took the opportunity to ask the state PDP Chairman that, ‘is this a PDP affair?’ And he told me it was not a PDP affair. “And I have condemned it but he did not go to prison for political offence. If he had been sent to prison for political offence, then he comes back and all his political associates may get round him and PDP must do something noble and wholesome but in this case, PDP as a party must dissociate itself from celebrating criminality. “When I asked the state chairman, he said ‘well, you know Area Boys, they do hijack these things.’ If it’s Area Boys, leave it to the Area Boys and not to PDP,” the party’s board of trustee chairman emphasised. On the Federal Court judgement which pronounced Tunji Olurin as the party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Mr Obasanjo said: “Don’t forget that PDP is a family; there may be a little misunderstanding but we have to go to court for adjudication; the court adjudicates but as soon as possible, the family should come together and forge ahead. http://www.nigerianewstoday.com.ng/olusegun-obasanjo-attend-bode-george-reception/ | | |

Forum / Politics / Church Gate Fee: Pastors Condemn Chris Oyakhilome |
on: 11-01-2011 03:32 PM
| Prominent pastors in the country have slammed Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his Christ Embassy Church for imposing a N1,000 toll fee on worshippers who attended New Year’s Eve service at the Christ Embassy Headquarters in Lagos, South-West Nigeria. News sources had reported in its 5 January 2011 edition how Christ Embassy pastors sold tickets valued at N1,000 each to worshippers who wanted to attend the crossover service in their church. Indigent worshippers who could not afford the money were denied access and sent back by security men at the gate. The church explained that it collected gate fees from worshippers to control the huge crowd that always besieges Christ Embassy on New Year’s Eve service. This development has outraged many Nigerians, including prominent pastors, at home and abroad. The pastors who spoke with us yesterday described the imposition of toll fee by Christ Embassy as a sacrilege. The Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Ola Makinde, described Oyakhilome’s action as anathema and abuse of Christianity. “It is a sacrilege and commercialisation of religion. It is an abuse of Christianity,” he lamented. Founder, Soul Winning Chapel, Rev. Moses Illoh, said that such an act “is sacrilegious,” adding that the gospel of Christ is supposed to be free and not to be paid for. “There is no excuse for this. The church of God is for everybody, both for the poor and the rich. The church where they collect money before you can go in to worship is not a church.” According to Primate Elijah Ayodele of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, such pastors who collect money from worshippers should be stoned to death or be crucified. “Is this possible? Such church should be destroyed and such pastors should be stoned to death. Pay N1,000 to enter a church? Is the church in heaven? It is never done. on: 18-12-2010 07:40 PM
| I believe dirt is dirt no matter how you try to conceal it or glorify it. Yes,it is true that Italian prostitution is synonymous to "Edo girls",but let us not classify all edo gals as mobile prostitutes. Some of them may be good girls and God-fearing. But please do not try to imply that you girls have made this nation popular, that sounds like an open mockery. | | | |
