Even if the victim is 99 years old , rape is rape. He had deployed his power to threaten the poor woman and also her family and continue to service her free of charge.  He should be returned to serve his sentence, Nigeria should not continue to be the hiding place for the lawless.

Waoo, the boy has right to choose which sex he wants to be!  Joke aside, do we have social workers and active social security system in Nigeria! If there is the child would have been cared for when the parent and the school system failed.

Nigerians Abroad need not become ministers , they should however come up with some salient ideas for national development. First the problem of Nigeria is lack of proper identification of people and corporate persons. Nigerians in Abroad should tell the government of Nigeria reasons why Nigeria is not functioning as a Nation. When you are in Nigeria, you hardly know what is wrong, your citizens rights and obligations.  Nigerians in Abroad should tell the government that it is time to have social security system and tax system working, social security system is the bedrock of any society that want to advance human development and good governance.

419 men in power . How can you keep the people so alienated from development socially and economical for 8 years.  The people had been crying for justice but the justices were miscarried. It has been as if no law , norms and rules in government and the society at large.
216  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: WHY DO NIGERIANS ALWAYS JET OFF ABOARD TO DELIVER? on: 11-03-2011 07:48 AM
First of all is the healthcare system available in the UK and USA that is not like a death trap during child birth. In Nigeria the reverse is the case even private and teaching hospitals cannot provide safe system of child delivery. In Nigeria they exploit you in terms of high charges and also lucky to make it alive. In the USA and UK, if your husband is a citizen you pay little or nothing to have healthcare, even procedure that demands high expert skills you pay nothing as a citizen. More so, when a child is born the child is registered at the tax office, social security number provided and soon begins to get child support from the local government council as part of child right.  So, which of these do we have in Nigeria! Even the western states that were supposed to carry on the ideals of the founding fathers beaconed on social and egalitarian or equal society where people will never be assessed by the tribal mark on the face or the way they offer their prayers.
217  Forum / Religion / Re: Should pastors in Nigeria pay tax? on: 17-02-2011 09:12 PM
To pay tax is part of ethical and legal obligation of all citizens. As long as you have any form of income you should pay tax to the government and by that you can challenge the government on responsible use of tax payers money.
Now the issue of Pastor or Imam should they pay tax! Yes as long as they share allowances or bonus of the collection, any income should reflect in the tax office if you want to build a transparent society.

220  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: INEC machine rejects Obasanjo’s fingerprint on: 18-01-2011 02:16 PM
Quote from: nametalkam on 17-01-2011 02:17 AM
It was a frustrating moment for former president Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday as his attempt to register in the ongoing voters’ registration was thwarted by the Direct Data Capture (DDC) machine.

Obasanjo who arrived his Ward 11, Ita-Eko, Abeokuta, the state capital at about 11.53 a.m. in company with his wife, Bola had after several rejections of his fingers by the machine offered to come back for the exercise after an overseas trip.

However, the former president who had to wait patiently for about an hour succeeded in registering after an Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Information Technology expert arrived the scene at around 12.45 p.m. and performed the registration.

Even with the presence of the INEC officials and the IT expert, the registration took about 20 minutes for the process to be completed, while the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Martins Okunfolami and other INEC officials made frantic efforts to register the former president.

Before his eventual registration, when the first DDC machine failed, the INEC team, led by the REC changed its scanner and used two different ones which also disappointed them. Fielding questions from journalists, Obasanjo cautioned Nigerians against castigating INEC over the shaky start of the exercise. According to him, it was normal for a new programme such as the DDC technology-driven voters’ registration to experience challenges at initial stage even though he stated that it was too late to call for extension of deadline for the exercise.

“Whenever you are starting a new programme like this, it’s likely to have hitches until everybody masters it. Today is the second day. I believe that by the middle of this week, both the people who are carrying out the registration, the technicians, the INEC at the highest level will be able to make this work smoothly.

“So, I don’t believe that we should now start to castigate and to condemn. If, of course, by the middle of the week it’s not working as it should be, we will all see and then those who designed it would have to advise us how we can go about it. But for now, I believe let’s regard this as the hiccup of a new process.” “Let us not prejudge them, let’s give them time to think and rethink if rethinking is necessary,” Obasanjo said.

“Nigerians, be patient and let us all be determined to get ourselves registered. I have said I’m travelling tonight to Cuba, when I return; I will come and sit down here until I am registered. And as I said jocularly, if it is blood that is not running in my vein, I will go for blood transfusion to make sure that I can be registered,” he added.

Is it the fault of Obasanjo or the fake machine from China !
