I commend Mr. President for removing the former I-G of Police Hafiz Ringim and all the DIG's of Police and for replacing him with an AIG. I do however have grave reservation about the New Acting I-G of Police Abubakar who appears to be yet another closest muslim fundamentalist just as is the Governor of Central Bank Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. What I Remember Acting I-G Abubakar for was the fact that he ordered the arrest of women that wore trousers in public places and in the streets in Lagos State when he was commissioner of police there just a few years ago until he was called to order by the Governor who had to remind him that Lagos State was not a sharia state and neither were the majority of Lagosians muslims.
Quite apart from that he was seriously indicted and recommended for dismissal from the police by the Justice Niki Tobi Panel for aiding and abetting the killing of christians in Jos during the religious crisis there in 2001. This is the Man that President Goodluck Jonathan has now appointed to head the Nigerian Police Force at this crucial time when the islamists are trying to set this country on fire. What has got into our President? Can someone please tell me? Does he not do his homework properly or is it that he doesn't care? What does he expect the christian population in this country to feel with this appointment? I have come to the conclusion that our President needs help, counselling and a whole lot of prayers. He appears to be besides himself. Pls read the following carefully-
The Justice Niki Tobi panel constituted in September 2001 by former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye on the Jos crisis had recommended the retirement MD Abubakar from the Police Force. He was also with Biu in d Airport bomb cover up during Abacha era. The Blast that killed Dr Omosola. In a White paper released in Jos, the panel suggested that AIG Abubakar should be dismissed if he refuses to retire.
The Panel said: "Religious fanatics should not be posted to head state police commands. The commission recommends that for his ignoble role during the September 2001 crisis which resulted in the loss of lives, the former commissioner of police, Plateau State Command, Alhaji M.D. Abubakar, be advised to retire from the Nigeria Police Force and in the event of his refusal to do so, he should be dismissed from the service."
Abubakar from Zamfara State who was indicted twice between 2004 and 2006 by a Jos Crisis Panel, is alleged to have sponsored some Islamist Militant Group when he was Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Plateau States.
