Residents of Ojuore in Sango area were amazed when a chick with four limbs was hatched by a mother hen last Sunday. And the ever superstitious neighbours suspected it was an act of wizardry by the chicken farmer who is simply known as Bola City.

•The four-legged chicken.
The incident, it was learnt, happened at about six o’ clock in the evening. Residents who witnessed the incident were scared of moving close to the chicken farmer for they suspected he must have bewitched the hen which hatched the four-limbed chick.
Even pregnant women who lived in the same compound with him were said to have deserted their homes because of fear.
Bola City was said to have been forced to vacate his house due to the suspicion and commotion that were generated after the incident.
Mulikat Ajala, a neigbour of the chicken farmer said: “in fact, this is unbelievable because it has not happened before. But I am not surprised because the man (the chicken minder) had been behaving strangely. And for his hen to have hatched a chick with four limbs means he could be a wizard. In fact, I cannot allow my children to move closer to him lest he bewitch them.”
Some Christian as well as Islamic faithful seized the opportunity to preach that people should turn to God, saying that the incident had some spiritual significance.
Experts, however, said the chicken suffered from genetic disorder before it was hatched

Father kidnaps son, demands N100,000 ransom

 Roll Eyes

ADEMOLA ONI reports how a man abducted his son, alerted a family member and demanded a ransom from his extended family

A 45-year-old drummaker, Tanimowo Hunge, has been paraded by policemen from the Ogun

State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for allegedly abducting his 16-year-old son, John, and demanding N100,000 as ransom.

Hunge, a native of Maun, Ipokia Local Government, was paraded alongside some robbery and murder suspects by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Musa Daura, in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

Hunge, who wept profusely, blamed the devil for the crime. According to the CP, the suspect tricked his son who lives in Lagos with his brother in-law, Joseph Dosa, to come home. His father later abducted him and got in touch with Dosa that John had been kidnapped and the abductors demanded N100,000 ransom.

Dosa later told reporters that efforts to get the alleged abductors‘ telephone number from the boy‘s father proved abortive as he was said to have claimed that the abductors warned him not to release the telephone number to any other person.

The CP added, ”When information go the police, they phoned the kidnappers and the money was made available by the police in order to attract the suspect. As the suspect surfaced for the collection of the money, he was arrested. Incidentally, the suspect is the biological father of the victim.

”We even tried to negotiate the ransom to N50,000 but the father refused, saying the kidnappers had refused any form of negotiation.”

Amidst continuous sobs, Hunge, who confessed to the crime, claiming that tree felling had robbed him of the materials with which to make drums.

“It was the devil. I used to have money. It was hardship that pushed

me to this level and I only pray that God will save me from this problem,” he lamented.

Also, another suspect, Abdullahi Adekunle, was paraded for allegedly killing one Musibau Olopade, who was caught having sex with his (Adekunle‘s wife) on their matrimonial bed.

Daura said Adekunle, a block moulder in Ilogbo Ota, stabbed Olopade in the back after he caught his wife, Funmilayo, and the young man having sex on their (Adekunles) matrimonial bed. A sober Adekunle explained that though he stabbed the late Olopade, who was unmarried, with the knife he used during the Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya), he did not know that the deceased would die.

The wife who had had a stillbirth for the suspect claimed that the deceased raped her. Funmilayo said, ”I was expecting my husband in the morning; so, when he (Olopade) knocked, I thought it was my husband. I opened the door while I had only wrapper on. He pushed me to the bed and started. When my husband was knocking, he said I shouldn‘t open the door that it was not my husband. When my husband forced the door opened and saw him; they started fighting and I ran out of the building. As he (late Olopade) was trying to escape, my husband stabbed him in the back.” Roll Eyes Huh?

James Ibori Arrested In Dubai

James Onafefe Ibori

Several sources have confirmed to Saharareporters that James Onanefe Ibori, the fugitive former governor of Delta State, has been arrested. Our sources revealed that Interpol agents picked up Mr. Ibori from his posh apartment in Dubai with assistance of the Dubai police. Saharareporters’ sources disclosed that a subdued Ibori sent a text message to Mr. Lulu Enobaifo, one of his closest protégés, announcing his arrest. Another source told Saharareporters that former Governor Niyi Adebayo of Ekiti, a close friend of Ibori’s, was overheard telling friends that Ibori had been arrested in Dubai.

Saharareporters received conflicting reports as to which agency initiated the request for Ibori’s arrest. A source in the UK told Saharareporters that Ibori’s arrest was most likely at the instance of the London Metropolitan police. But a different source, speaking from Abuja, said Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which had earlier declared Ibori wanted after he failed to answer an invitation to appear at the agency’s headquarters for questioning on new money laundering allegations, was behind his arrest. If UK authorities requested Ibori’s arrest, then he is likely to be extradited to London where his associates, including a former mistress Udoamaka Okoronkwo, his sister, Christine Ebie-Ibori, and a former personal aide, Ms Pogoson, are facing charges of assisting the former governor to launder billions of naira stolen from Delta State. Their trial is nearing an end at the Southwark Crown Court. Last Monday, lawyers representing Ibori’s associates began making closing arguments. Our legal correspondent in the UK reports that the jury at the Southwark Crown Court is likely to deliver a verdict in a matter of days.

In what a top security source described as “embarrassing,” a combined team of the Nigerian police and EFCC officials could not arrest Ibori – who for a time was holed up in his country home in Oghara, Delta State. “The scandal is that Chief Ibori enjoys support from various top brass of Nigeria’s security agencies,” said the source, a senior official of the State Security Service (SSS) in Abuja. “That’s why he always received information about the plans to arrest him. And that information gave him the edge to mobilize heavily armed thugs who fought to protect him,” added the source.

Saharareporters learnt that Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Ibori’s maternal cousin and handpicked successor, left Abuja abruptly tonight to return to Asaba, his state capital, after he received information of Ibori’s arrest.

If Ibori is successfully extradited to the UK, he will be the second person to be extradited under the Extradition Treaty and Mutual Legal Assistance signed between the UK and the government of the United Arab Emirates. The first person was Jeleel Ahmed, 28, who was extradited to the UK in August 2009 to face murder charges.

Sometimes,I wonder the kind of brain our leaders have.I read in one of nigerian dailies that Ohakim was in America to sign a nuclear deal .What a shame!I have said it time without number that Solar is the only way that nigerians can be bailed from this power problem. Why are they trying to bring death to nigeria.Where will the nuclear waste be deposited. These things have side effects. The Europeans are rejecting the so-called nuclear plants because of the dangers it pose to peoples health.Take a look at these pics. The Germans protest against the nuclear power.
