…But Keshi has not Made official complaint to that effect…

(SOURCE: BBC News)
Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has not been paid since this year’s Nations Cup victory, a BBC report has said. Keshi, who led Nigeria to her third Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa, has yet to receive any money from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for the past five months.
Responding to the issue, Musa Amadu, the NFF Secretary General, said that there was no need for an alarm as the situation was under control.
“Between the federation and the coaching crew, we don’t have a problem. Obligations to the coaching crew are always settled, and we have the understanding of the coaching crew in this regard.
“We’ve been working together with Stephen Keshi since November 2011 and he knows the peculiar situation [financial problems] of how things are with the federation. “We try as much as possible to pay our obligations, likewise the coach, and we’ve had a very good working relationship.
“I know the coach will not bring to the fore any such matters,” he added.
Keshi has indeed made no official complaint to that effect. According to the report, the NFF also owes assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi and goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shorunmu, and have promised to pay, although the Federation said they will have to be patient.

122  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / ….Bill Gates Awards Governor Peter OBI as the Best Governor in Nigeria…. on: 8-07-2013 10:41 AM

“ Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State is an Exemplary Leader”

Anambra State governor, Mr Peter Obi, last week bagged the best performing governor on the eradication of polio in the southeast from Bill Gates and Melinda Foundation at a massively attended ceremony at the Women’s Development Centre in Awka.

Speaking while presenting the award to Gov Obi which went with a cash prize of N120 million, the minister of state for health, Dr Mohammed Pate said the award was not by chance as Gov Obi had distinguished himself in the health sector which he observed had resulted in the provision of ambulances to hospitals, accreditation of schools of midwifery and the wonderful partnership with the Church and described the Anambra example as a total package, noting that the state had remained polio-free in the past five years.

Responding, Gov Obi thanked the minister for coming to the state to present the award on behalf of Bill Gates and Melinda Foundation and noted with satisfaction that it was not one of the awards anyone could suspect as having been bought and said the state government would match the N120m it received with another N180m which would be ploughed into the building of ten more health centres in the state.

Recalling some of his strides in the health sector, the governor cited the state’s first teaching hospital as an example.

‘‘What happened was that the government of the day admitted medical students without a medical school in place and the assessors said they would not accredit the university but I pleaded with them when I came in to give me two or three years to put a teaching hospital in place. But they could not believe me as they thought it impossible that a teaching hospital could be built in two, three years. It was one of them that pleaded with them to give me a chance and they did. When they returned at the appointed time they were shocked to see the teaching hospital in place. It has since become the fastest teaching hospital to be built in Nigeria,’ Obi stated to the applause of the packed audience.

In a similar development the governor has splashed N60m on the final batch of 5000 youths under the Anambra State Youth Empowerment Programme (ANSYREP). While handing over the cheques of N100, 000 to each of the successful candidates, Gov Obi charged them to use their money judiciously in order to justify the state government’s faith in them, even as he charged them to shun thuggery in the forth coming elections in the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the fruitful results already being yielded by the programme and restated his government’s readiness to continue to support the youths.

In his speech the coordinator of the programme, Dr Okey Ikechukwu, commended the governor for accepting to support the programme and disclosed that the governor did not submit any list of candidates to them but had told them to ensure the programme worked. He noted with satisfaction that many of the beneficiaries had made a success of the money and training given to them.

The two events were attended by top government functionaries, traditional rulers, student nurses and stake holders.

123  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigeria to Borrow $3 billion from China toProvide Basic Amenities 4 Her Citizens on: 8-07-2013 10:39 AM

“This is a very vital Report Every Nigerian Should Read, Click below to read….

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan will travel to China this week to sign off on $3 billion in Chinese loans to build infrastructure in Africa's most populous country, the finance minister said on Wednesday.

The agreed loans will come from the Chinese government and will be based on interest rates of less than 3 percent over a 15-20 year period, Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said.

The deal underscores increasing Chinese interest in Africa and its resources - Nigeria is the continent's top oil producer - in competition with Western powers.

Okonjo-Iweala estimates Nigeria needs $10 billion a year of investment to improve infrastructure like roads and electricity to keep up with a rapidly growing population, already some 170 million, and to sustain economic growth at around 6-7 percent.

"We know that China fueled its growth by really keeping one step ahead in terms of infrastructure ... we need roads, we need power, we need help on aviation, agriculture," Okonjo-Iweala told Reuters at the presidential villa in the capital.

China has made a string of cheap loans in the past few years to countries in Africa, a continent which supplies oil and raw materials like copper and uranium to the world's most populous country and second-largest economy.

The loans to Nigeria include $500 million to build airport terminals in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano; and over $700 million to build a hydroelectric power plant in Niger State.

It also includes $600 million to build a light railway in the capital Abuja, most of which has already been invested on a project due to be completed early next year.

Lending at below market rates to fund infrastructure projects using Chinese firms has enabled Beijing to cement relationships in Africa while subsidizing its construction industry.

Nigeria's central bank governor Lamido Sanusi warned African governments in March that China's pursuit of raw materials and markets for its manufactured goods on the continent carried "a whiff of colonialism" similar to that introduced by Europeans in centuries past.

"I'm not of the school that says 'look this is colonialism' ... We should be open to whoever wants to invest and help us finance our needs," Okonjo-Iweala said.

The loans are part of a $7.9 billion external borrowing plan approved by Nigeria's national assembly last year as government seeks to up cheaper external borrowing and limit domestic debt.

Okonjo-Iweala said the delegation traveling to China on July 9 would also be discussing China's interest in oil from Nigeria, an OPEC member and Africa's top producer.

"They want more oil and gas ... we have something they want now and they have something we want, so you have grounds for negotiations," Okonjo-Iweala said.

With the discovery of shale oil and gas in the United States, Nigeria is losing its biggest customer and looking for new buyers. India has been increasing its imports from Nigeria.

125  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / PLEASE HELP: “ I Don’t Have a Girlfriend, No Girl Want to be My Girlfriend” on: 6-07-2013 01:19 PM

“ I Have Not Had SEX for Over  4 Years”
I have a relationship problem; I don’t know if it is spiritual or am the cause. Mr. name is Philip Abiodun, am a Yoruba boy but I live in Delta State. Before I traveled to Delta State, I used to have girlfriends. Infact, girls used to ask me out. I was a ladies’ man.
Could you believe that ever since I traveled to Delta State I have been unable to get myself a girlfriend despite the fact that I’m brilliant and I also work in First bank?
I have asked about 20 girls out in Delta State, no one accepted me. They all want to be just friends to me, They said they already have men in their lives.
I’m 30 years old now and I want to settle down, I have lost hope in relationship. I don’t know how long this loneliness will last. I’m afraid I may spend the rest of my life alone without finding a woman to be my lover and my wife.
Sometimes, I feel my problem is caused by a Benue Girl I used to date. I dumped her without any tangible reason. I felt she was not beautiful enough to be my girl so I called her on phone one day and told her the relationship was over. She was devastated because she loved me. Despite the fact that the Benue girl is ugly, she is very good in bed. I enjoyed having SEX with her.
Ever since I broke up with Caroline my Benue girlfriend, I have had ill luck finding another woman.
Could it be that Caroline cursed me never to have a girl again? Has she bewitched me?
The worst part of my situation is that I have not had SEX for over 4 years. This is really driving me crazy
   What could be the problem?
   Does it mean that I have a spiritual wife?
   Will I ever have a Lover?
   Is Caroline My Benue Girl behind my misfortune?

GUYS, THIS IS A VERY PATHETIC SITUATION, Please kindly advice this man on what to do. Thanks.

127  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / …An Exclusive Interview with Nollywood Actress, BENITA Nzeribe… on: 5-07-2013 01:34 PM
“I don’t have a daughter out of wedlock”
“I Don’t Have a Husband, I Don’t Even Have a Boyfriend”
“It’s a Lie, I Never Wanted to be a Reverend Sister”

Benita Nzeribe started out as a teen star in Nollywood and later grew into adulthood long before the industry started experiencing the boom it now enjoys. Though quick to say she got into the industry by accident, the light-complexioned beau has carved a niche for herself. That is why her endorsement as Ambassador for two separate institutions is not a surprise. In this interview, she talks about her career, endorsements and refutes the rumour making the rounds that she has a love child.
ENJOY THE INTERVIEW BELOW:
It seems your love for acting has vanished ? How do you mean ? I’m still and will remain an actress.

But you’ve been away from the big screen for some time now. What have you been up to ?
I was really not away . One thing about entertainment is that no one ever leaves it . I have been around and I’m active. I do jobs that come my way but I am a very patient person and not swayed at all . I have not been away from the big screen. I just have a different project and responsibility on my shoulders and I’m moving on by the grace of God .

What are some of those projects you’re currently handling ?
As you very well know, I am a UN Peace Ambassador and as such stand for world peace . Ambassadors work towards peace from the grassroots. Personally, I am more convinced than ever before that there should be peace in the inner mind of every human being created by God. Sadly, not every human being has been able to discover that inner mind and access the peace that is much needed for its growth and development for success .
World peace is still a tall order in our world today. However, nothing is impossible with God . I shall continue to call on Him for strength and direction as I pursue this awesome assignment. World peace must be achieved to an impressive percentage .
Secondly, as the Air Safety Ambassador of Nigeria which was bestowed on me by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), there is also a job to do . The aviation sector has recorded huge achievements under this present administration . Furthermore, I will be on location in less than two weeks from now for the shoot of their international classic TV commercial, It’s a big project; I can tell you that .
Also, I am presently recording the Malta Guinness Low Sugar Game show with Emeka Enyiocha as my co- presenter . It’s hitting the screen soon and I can tell you, it’s going to be a great show . I will be on location immediately after the NAMA TVC and thereafter, I will embark on an official trip out of the country as NAMA Ambassador .

How did you secure all these deals?
Well, let’s say that it’s God at work and the fruits of my labour as an actress
On the UN Ambassadorship, I was called upon to come and receive it. The fact that I grew from a teenager to an adult in Nollywood and have contributed to the growth of the industry and written my name in gold opened those doors for me .

So you must be swimming in money now ?.
Swimming in money? Hmm. Well, I have always believed in sacrifice first before reaping, and that has worked out well for me. God has been putting smiles on my face little by little. I must appreciate Him for that. But swimming in money? Not yet.

So what was growing up like for you?
Growing up was fun because I have disciplined parents. I went to a Convent school and I think that explains how I came about my disciplined self.

Could you share with us some of those boring experiences you had while growing?
All I can remember is that all the partying that has to do with teens was never part of my experience. But I guess, it helped me to keep disciplined till date.
Do you regret not being allowed to enjoy your childhood days?
I don’t feel like I missed out at all. In fact, it’s rare to see me in a night club because I have been fashioned that way. It’s not like I’m saying it’s wrong to party, everyone should just do whatever makes them happy.

Since you attended a Convent school, how did you come about acting?
My getting into acting was never planned. My debut role in ‘Beyond Our Dreams’ was just meant to be.

So, acting was an accidental thing for you. What were you doing before acting?
I was in school then. So, my girlfriend and I came to Lagos for holidays in my elder brother’s house, Hon.Chuma Nzeribe. One day, we decided to just stroll around for sight seeing and we stumbled on an audition for a soap. We wanted to just see what they were up to and why so many people gathered there. It was curiosity and one thing led to another. I was called upon to be tried because they were actually searching for that character of a female lead. I was auditioned and the rest is history.

I heard you wanted to be a Reverend Sister?
That’s not true. I just went to a Convent school because my father believed there is more discipline and a better quality of education there. I didn’t attend the school because I was aspiring to be a Reverend Sister.

So, weren’t your parents disappointed that you chose acting after the discipline and values instilled in you at the Convent school?
There was nothing to feel disappointed about. It’s a profession just like every other one. My parents are educated so they understood that I was doing my job. I have my limits as an African woman.

What are your limits?
I can never go naked!
I overheard you calling someone ‘Daddy’ on the phone?
Ha! that was my father in the Lord, my pastor.

So, who is the lucky man?
Soon, you will find out.

Does that mean there’s a man in your life?
I’m sure you don’t expect me to have a woman in my life. Well, it’s not yet ripe to talk about that for now. But I’ll surely inform you at the right time.
How’s your daughter doing?
My daughter? Which daughter? Where is the daughter and from whom? This is really funny, and the first time ever a journalist will be asking me about a daughter. I have none for now but will definitely get one once I’m married. Don’t be in a hurry.
But we learnt that you’re a single mother
Wow! I’m not, please. That’s definitely not true. Why would I hide my blood from anyone if I had a daughter? Children are blessings from God so I would flaunt her to the world if I did. Relax, I will soon get there by God’s Grace. People saying that should take a chill pill and wait.

A 45-year-old farmer of Agona Obosomase in the Agona East District of the Central Region, Kwesi Appiah has beheaded his four-year-old son, Kofi Takyi, for eating his gari and pepper.Appiah also used the cutlass to slash his 38-year-old wife Yaa Nkrumah in the stomach and thereafter fled into the bush.He was apprehended by residents of the town after a three-day search.Briefing DAILY GUIDE, a resident of the town, Kobina Mensah, said the incident happened on June 23, 2013 around 7:00pm.Mensah stated that Appiah, after returning from a friend’s funeral, requested his food from the wife, Yaa Nkrumah.
The source said Yaa Nkrumah told him the deceased had eaten the food since it was late. A researcher from the U.K, Mark Gasson, has become the first person in the world to be infected by a computer virus. Technically speaking, the chip that Gasson inserted into his hand is infected, "which one could argue keeps the virus limited to the domain of the chip even though it lives inside the man." Continue reading for the news report and more information.

But Gasson, of the University of Reading's School of Systems Engineering, suggests this argument is immaterial because he is demonstrating that increasingly sophisticated medical implants will become vulnerable to computer viruses. Which means that those implants that are vital to a human's health and survival could, if corrupted, compromise the health--and potentially the survival--of the carrier.

This ravishingly beautiful lady seemed to have struck gold when she married Pastor Chris Okotie at elaborate twin ceremonies a few years ago. So in love were the duo that many thought it was too real to be true. He showered her with attention and gifts.

This remained the state of things until things turned ugly last year and they split. Following the break up, he not only retrieved the car gifts he bought for her when the going was good, he stripped her of all other privileges she used to enjoy as his wife.

For the mother of three, who is said to reside with her sister in Lagos, she was sighted in a not-so-posh part of town riding in an air conditioned taxi.

A source disclosed that she has found a new love and may re-marry next year.
WISH HER THE BEST.

136  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / OMG: …Rolling Dollar’s Children May Drop-out Of School Soon… on: 25-06-2013 06:21 PM

…He Did Not Leave Any Money to Take Care of His Children…

“His Two Wives Want the Government to Help Them Financially”

Though death has stopped the beat of highlife singer, Fatai Olagunju, popularly known as Rolling Dollar, his family wants his fans to keep the tempo going, writes GBENGA ADENIJI

The location was the Millennium Estate, Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos residence of deceased highlife singer, Fatai Olagunju, otherwise called Rolling Dollar. His two wives, Zainab and Serifat, some of his children including Sikiru-who is the singer’s 50-year-old first son, wore a pensive mood as our correspondent walked into their home.

It was evident from their faces that they were yet to come to terms with the reality of the death of the 86-year-old songbird, Rolling Dollar, who breathed his last on June 12, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the acclaimed “fairest and freest” election in Nigeria. The musician shot to stardom a few years back via a successful album, Won Kere si Number Wa. But despite his fame, the family is worried about the education of his younger children.

One of the children, Jamiu, told our correspondent that he was still saddened by the death of his father, expressing uncertainty over his future. He explained that he and his other siblings would miss their father’s pieces of advice.

The young Olagunju regretted that his late father was unable to fulfill the promise he made to him concerning his education.

Jamiu stated, “Anytime he was around, he used to advise us on things we should do and the ones we should avoid. He promised me that he would make sure I studied up to university level. It is unfortunate that when my father was making the promise, he did not know that he would die this year.”

He added that when the news of his father’s death was broken to him, the first thing he remembered was the promise he made to him, regarding his university education.

“When I was told about his death, I remembered what he promised me. I also thought about my education. It is my desire to be a singer like my father but I want to go to school first. To honour my father, I will take to music someday. He became popular as a highlife singer but I want to be a hip-hop artiste,” he added.

Rolling Dollar might have arrived on the big stage late in life but his works were recognised by highlife lovers, music buffs and fellow musicians. After his death, President Goodluck Jonathan was one of many notable individuals who praised the good work of the late singer. Zainab, who had just finished saying her prayers, told SUNDAY PUNCH that she was yet to believe that her husband had left her forever. She recalled that she married the musician after her first marriage failed, adding that Rolling Dollar was yet to hit the stardom when he married her.

She said, “I was staying with an aunt at Olorunsogo, Mushin area of Lagos about 13 years ago when I met him. I used to see him pass by but I did not know that he had interest in me. I was a bit sick when he called me on a Sunday. He jokingly asked me if I would not mind preparing Ramadan food for him because it was the fasting period. He later noticed some patches at both corners of my mouth, indicating that I had been sick. I told him I had used some drugs but he insisted on buying some more for me.”

Zainab said the musician did not even stop at that. According to her, he also prepared rice and asked one of his children to take some to her house.

She added, “I later learnt that the year he met me was exactly three years after the death of his wife, who left three children behind. We got married in 2001 and I promised to take care of the children for him. His caring and honest nature drew me to him.”

She further stated that the family was apprehensive of how to cater for the children of the late artiste, who she said, did not leave anything behind. Zainab appealed to his fans to stand by them at their moment of grief.

Rolling Dollar’s younger wife, Serifat, who said she bore a boy and a girl for the deceased singer, also reiterated that their husband did not leave any money to train their children.

When the highlife maestro was alive, Serifat said he cared so much for the children and would do anything to make them happy. But his death seemed to have caught her and the rest of the family unawares.

“Our husband did not leave any money. We hope his fans and government will stand by us. The major challenge we are facing right now is how to ensure that our children continue their education. I am a businesswoman and I only survive on the little profit I make,” she stated.

Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola will turn 50 on June 28th. His aides were planning an elaborate 50th birthday party but he asked them to stop. He doesn't want to have an elaborate birthday at tax payers expense. I love my governor. Read what he told City People below:

"By nature I am not a ceremonious person. I don't like all the noise and partying. When I saw all the plans going on for my 50th, I said no. If this is my day, then those who really love me should allow me do it the way I want to. I have told my aides how I feel about this whole 50th birthday celebration. I asked them if governors in other countries don't have their birthdays and is it usually in such a loud way and manner? If I do it my own way it won't cost me that much to receive my visitors. I funded my 40th birthday when I was Chief of Staff and it cost me so much. I am not quite sure I can do the same now. As a Governor, it will cost me more. I am not sure I want to spend that kind of money on parties. And to tell you the truth, the idea that probably I will have a birthday at tax payers expense is something that does not go down well with me, and it's only for 24 hours. So I am going to have a very quiet and simple day with close friends and family”
