142  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / …HURRAY ! Today is Prophet T.B. Joshua’s 50th Birthday…. on: 12-06-2013 04:07 PM
‘Celebrate My Birthday With The Poor’

Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, has directed his followers not to shower him with gifts as he clocks 50 today, instead they should spend their money and possessions on the poor who need help the most.
Nigeria’s televangelist, faith healer and founder of Emmanuel Television was born in the small village of Arigidi in Akoko area of Ondo State, southwest Nigeria, on 12 June 1963.
After many low paid jobs in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, including one he loves to remember as a poultry farmer, T.B. Joshua burst into the national scene in the 1990s with his miracles and healings.
“Those things that you have for T.B. Joshua, even what you will spend on a greeting card, put it together and spend it on this commission (the poor),” T.B. Joshua said.
“Be a father to the fatherless. There are many homeless and fatherless orphans. If you can’t bring anyone of them to your house, you must go to them, care for them and give them scholarships,” he said.
He added: “Whatever you have as a gift for the ceremony or the occasion of my 50th birthday, put it together and use it to rededicate yourself to the acts of giving. No matter how small it is.”
The Man In The Synagogue, as TB Joshua is known to followers around the world, said God has directed him to create employment for jobless graduates.
“One of the projects the Lord has given to us at 50 is that we must create jobs for people who are jobless. This is the number one project for my 50th birthday. I am going to pursue it. Graduates everywhere are without a jobs. I asked the Lord to bless me to be in position to help them. This birthday, it will be an assignment for me,” T.B. Joshua said.
Joshua warned that if jobs were not quickly created for the unemployed, the future will be bleak and no one will be able to sleep.
“If you listen to the graduates today, you will be afraid of the future. If something is not done quickly, you will not be able to sleep and close your eyes in the future. Tomorrow will be tough. We have to come together and do something now,” he said.
On 26 May, T.B. Joshua began the assignment of facilitating the provision of jobs to graduates. At least 24 graduates were given employment.
On his birthday, he said God has blessed him beyond his expectations and he would like to give something back to the creator to say thank you.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. At 50, the Lord has given me so much in all areas of my life which I cannot reciprocate. At 50, I should be more grateful to God and show more commitment to His service,” he said.
He told followers that “the best way to celebrate this birthday is to be on your knees and thank God for the life of T.B. Joshua.
“Pray for the Church of God for a strong bond of love. Pray for your nation and the whole world.”

Happy birthday.

Popular Nigerian Blogger, ENDY EDESON Attacked by Armed Robbers in Ota, Ogun State.
: Armed Robbers Attacked Me with Loaded GUN:
“I Was “Hospitalized” and Traumatized for Over 2 Weeks”

Hello Naijapals crew and members, my name is ENDY EDESON. I’m a blogger and a freelancer. I’m a regular visitor and poster in this forum. I want to share with you the horrific incident I experienced in Ota Ogun State.
Tough times never last but tough people like me do. After the storm, comes the shine.
I was attacked by armed robbers two weeks ago, precisely on May 18, 2013. I live in Lagos but I shuttle around neigbouring states for business. I went to meet one of my clients in Ota Ogun State weeks back not knowing that armed robbers are also looking for clients. They came to rob around Iyana Iyesi area, unfortunately I was among the victims. They invaded me unannounced and when I lest expected them.
They took my phone, IPAD, all my money and other valuables, including my ATM Card. They even tried to steal my laptop that contains vital information about my business but I dragged it with them, I managed to escape from them with my laptop but the laptop screen got damaged. I have repaired the screen now.
The armed robbers used motorcycle (Okada) to operate. They were 3 in number, they beat me mercilessly. One of them pointed his gun at me to surrender my laptop or else he will shoot me, I thought I was going to die at that moment but fortunately he did not shoot me, rather he used the gun to smash on my face.
I sustained injuries after the attack, I was “hospitalized” and traumatized for over 2 weeks.
The good news is that I have recovered; I’m hale and hearty now.
I want the government of Ogun State especially ADO-ODO Ota Local Govt Area to intensify efforts in curbing robbery in Ota. Cases of robbery are becoming rampant in that area. Recently, robbers attacked Conoil Petrol Station along Covenant University Road/Idi-roko road Ota, killing at least 2 persons.

148  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigerian woman tries to commit suicide days before she was due to be deported on: 25-04-2013 05:08 PM
Suicide Mission:
…Nigerian woman tries to commit suicide days before she was due to be deported from the UK…

According to the Daily Mail, a 19 year old Nigerian girl married to a British man attempted to take her life just days before she was due to be deported to Nigeria. May Brown said she fled to the UK three years ago after witnessing her father's murder and being subjected to segxwal abuse.

She settled in Dorset where she met and married Michael Brown in December 2012. May applied to stay in the UK and her application was rejected because UK Border Agency officials believed her marriage Michael was fake.

When May was informed that she would be deported today April 25th, she took an overdose of prescription pills. Meaning she would rather die than return to Nigeria.
Her mother-in-law, Helen-Claire Brown, found her collapsed on the bathroom floor on Monday morning with a note to her husband saying she 'couldn't live without him'. The teenager was rushed to the Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester where she remains in a coma in intensive care.

May wrote: 'I am deeply sorry that I had to go this way, without even saying goodbye. The UK immigration has finally driven me insane. They've pushed me too far this time and I can't take the pain any more. I don't want a life or a future you won't be part of. I love you so much, more than life itself and can't endure the agony of not being with you. Please forgive me for ending it this way. It's better to die with my dignity than be subjected to torture and undignified death back in Nigeria.'

Before she took the overdose, May had said she feared her abusers would kill her if she returned to the African country because she witnessed her father's death.

She said: 'If they send me back to Nigeria they are signing my death warrant, they will cut my life short because I will be killed. I have found peace with Michael, he gave me a reason to live. I have got a family here and we don't claim any benefits. Michael works and I am studying to become a barrister, we have not harmed anybody.'

Mr Brown, a former soldier who now works for a removals company, insisted the couple's marriage was genuine and slammed the UK Border Agency for its treatment of his wife.
He said: 'May is the most beautiful, kindest, loving person I have ever met. I can't live with myself if anything happens to her. She is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with and you can't pretend something like that. All we want is a life together. But I'm so angry that is being taken away from us.'

A Home Office spokesman said: 'We cannot comment in detail on this case while legal proceedings are ongoing.
'In cases where people are found to have no right to remain in the UK they should leave voluntarily or face removal.'

GUYS, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHT?

150  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / PLEASE HELP: Should I keep waiting for my husband or re-marry? on: 25-04-2013 12:49 PM
I got married in 2006. A year later in 2007, my husband relocated to the US. The plan was for him to settle there and then bring me and our only son to join him. It's been six long years and he has been giving us excuses upon excuses. He confessed that he married a white woman there but only to get his papers but I later found out he was living with this woman. When I called him a few months ago I heard a child crying at the background, so I'm suspecting they also have a child together though he says the child is the lady's child and not his. I don't believe him.
I have no way of finding out the truth because I have no one in the US to help me investigate. He has only returned home once since he traveled and this was in 2010. I feel like I'm wasting my life waiting for him especially now that I met someone else who wants to marry me. I'm not divorced from my husband so marrying another man would be illegal. When I suggested divorce to my husband he flipped and told me to give him more time that he will come home as soon as he's stable there. I'm tired of waiting. I need a man in my life. Can I remarry because I think my husband is also married?

GUYS, WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE for this lady?

155  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigerian teenager, Opemipo Jaji found guilty of rape, facing life imprisonment on: 22-04-2013 10:36 AM
A Nigerian teenager who attacked and raped an 11 year old schoolgirl in November 2012 has been found guilty of rape and facing life imprisonment in the UK. 18 year old Opemipo Jaji was under a supervision order for having child porn and had just left an appointment with the Probation Service when he followed the victim as she took a bus home from school, according to the UK Daily Mail.

Opemipo took the girl to Jubilee Park in Enfield where he repeatedly raped her for three hours. The court heard that the Nigerian Paedophile stuffed a school tie and gloves into her mouth to stop her screaming. But Opemibo denied being the attacker, telling police he had seen the girl on the bus but nothing had happened. "I am just not capable of doing something as despicable and heartless as this," he told the court.

Well, nobody believed him. Not only was the victim's blood found on his clothes, CCTV footage also captured him in the same bus with the girl, plus he fitted the girl's description of her attacker and he admitted he was at the park that evening but only to compose music. He was found guilty and will be sentenced in two weeks time.

156  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Central Bank of Nigeria to Change N5, N20 and N50 from Polymer to Paper on: 22-04-2013 10:35 AM

CBN is poised to stop the printing of small denomination Naira in polymer notes because they fade quickly.

Its Deputy Governor, Mr Tunde Lemo, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Washington on the sideline of the ongoing Spring Meeting of the World Bank and the IMF.

``By the middle of the year, we will start to produce the second generation of lower denomination notes, now in paper not in polymer.’’

``My plea is that Nigerians should exercise patience with us; it wasn’t the fault of the CBN, it was just because we had to go back to the drawing board to rethink `Project Cure’ in the light of the wish of the public that we should not go ahead with the N5000 notes and lower denomination.

``We will correct that in the course of the year. Polymer certainly will be phased out. In fact, we are phasing out polymer. No new note is being printed in polymer now.’’

Lemo told NAN that when the CBN was going to introduce the polymer currencies, its search showed that they could last longer than ordinary paper notes.

``However, with the benefit of hindsight, we probably should not have dumped polymer because, yes, the substrate lasts longer, but the in-consubstrate began to fade; we didn’t realise that at the time of introduction.

`` So, part of `Project cure’ actually was actually to move away from polymer substrate to paper, unfortunately we had a push-back because of the issues around N5000 note and coins.

``The entire program was put in abeyance, otherwise by now we should have stopped producing polymer.’’

He said that the CBN had awarded a contract for the printing of the higher denomination notes to a foreign company because of low capacity at the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company.

He said the CBN would begin to receive the fresh notes from June.

On the campaign on the careful handling of the naira, Lemo said that it was unfortunate that the campaign was not successful, but noted that it was a criminal act to abuse the naira going by the CBN Act.

``Unfortunately, CBN is not a law enforcement institution; we left that in the hands of the law enforcement institutions and that has not kicked in.’’

I still go to parties and see people spraying money, stepping on money, I see touts distributing mint-fresh money that should go to customers.’’

Lemo also told NAN that the CBN had talked to the police to step up its surveillance to reduce the abuse of the naira adding that the bank had no right to arrest people who sold the naira on the streets.

He said that the act of abuse and sale of the naira by touts had defeated the clean note policy of the bank, but assured that efforts were being made to tackle the problem.

157  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / An Exclusive Interview with Ex-Nollywood actress LIZ Benson: on: 19-04-2013 05:06 PM
“My mistakes belong to the past “

Known as Liz Benson, she was an actress who had featured in many Nigerian films. Now referred to as Liz Benson-Ameye, she talks about her new life

Where have you been?

I have been in Delta State where I now live with my husband. Together we run a ministry, Freedom Family Assembly. He has been in the ministry for a very long time and I have been an evangelist since 2006, when I was officially ordained. God brought us together and that is what I have been occupied with.

How was the transition from Nollywood to being an evangelist?

It was not easy. The calling of God is something that when it first happens, you begin to fret. You look at yourself and begin to ask questions like, ‘why me?’ and ‘am I really worth it?’ But thank God for His mercies. The truth is, God can decide to use anyone at any point in time. The most important thing is to submit oneself and after battling with it for a couple of years, it just dawned on me that I needed to submit myself and that is exactly what I have done.

So you battled it?

Yes I did. I was used to a particular kind of lifestyle, which I was expected to turn my back on and embrace a new life. It has to be devoid of all the vanities of life. When I got the calling, I knew I was special and that is why He chose me. Since then, I have not looked back.

Do you get strange reactions from people you minister to?

There is no shock because I don’t think I am the first person who has been through this path. I know there are many people who have got a similar call but they have not just been able to really follow it through. I know some who were musicians but now run a very big church. Outside Nollywood industry, I know professionals who have answered that call. People are just so glad that I have been able to see the light. They are happy for me.

Are there things you miss from your former life?

Nothing whatsoever. Instead, I wish I had known the Lord before now. I have no regrets because I am positive that the path I have toed is what God has prepared for me and whatever mistakes I made in my past, remains in my past and I was meant to make those mistakes . I have gathered from them because mistakes are experiences, so you grow with them.

What mistakes are you referring to?

I don’t have to enumerate them because I can’t even remember them. It all belongs to the past. Everybody has a past without which there can’t be a present and a future. When you are in Christ, all things become new.

Do you miss being on set?

Why should I? Don’t you know people grow out of things? I have not grown out of being a performer but the thing is that as you get older, you begin to do other things that would improve people’s lives around you even better than before. You have people who were bankers being absorbed into the entertainment industry, we have people who were in the entertainment industry, doing other things but the fact remains that we are sending a message to the people. But for me, it is a different message, which is a message of life and eternity. That is the best that can happen to any individual. So, I count myself really privileged to be called a servant of God.

In future, do you have plans of going back on set?

I did something last year with Stephanie Linus and it bordered on health. Something that really affects the lives of women, and I was touched by the script. I know a lot of people said they thought I was going to do something that borders on my faith but this also borders on my faith because if I can do something that will help humanity, I think it is contributing my own quota to life basically.

Are you insinuating that you will not play any of those bad girl roles any longer even if the pay is mouthwatering?

For me, it has never being about money, it is about the script and the message I am sending out there. To every professional, I think that should be the bane. If you feel strongly about a role, you go all out and do it. At times, the money might not just even be there but thank God for how far the industry has gone now. Many people are really able to make a living acting because then, we could not. Back then, we had more fame and very little money.

Are you not interested in producing movies?

To the glory of God, it has to be. I want to produce movies that will preach the word and touch the lives of people. If I could touch the lives of people with secular movies, how much more the gospel?

How well have you fared in your marriage?

As you can see, it’s been wonderful staying married to my husband, Bishop Great Ameye. I am glowing. It looks like we have been married forever when in fact this is going to be the fourth year. We are like teenagers in love and I am enjoying every moment of it.

How did you meet?

I met him in his hometown where we live now. I went to evangelise there. It is something that is very rare and some great men of God have told me that it is something that is rare to find. I mean, one who has been in the ministry meeting another person who has also been called by God and both of them are really strong in it. I just thank God because marriage has been wonderful. We have our challenges but we never let it stay past two minutes and we are done with it. We are two young people together and you can imagine us coming together. We take everything in the strides of maturity.

You are aging gracefully…

All the credit goes to my heavenly father and He has also given me a wonderful man who helps make it happen. I don’t have any beauty routine. Maybe before I used to but not anymore. Now people tell me I look better than I used to.

Your carry natural hair…

It has always been that way for a very long time. At some point I had dreads also. This one is most convenient for me.

How have you coped living outside town where you were one of the happening babes?

In life, you can make action happen anywhere you are. So, for me, action is anywhere I am. Anywhere I find myself I make it happen. Today I am a happening babe for Christ.

What do you do for leisure?

I don’t have time for that. I look at my husband, he looks at me, and we share the word of God. We do some little crazy things like children and play around.

What is your advice for the current crop of actors in Nollywood?

They should keep it going. The industry has done very well for itself. I see room for greater things in every area and I would also want to say that rather than criticise what God has given to us, we should help to build it and stop the tear-down syndrome. We should know that it is a lot of struggle to produce even the shortest film or documentary when you take into cognisance the necessary infrastructure around. The world has been opened for us and we need to take the centre stage.

An engaged couple will become Britain's first double sex-change husband and wife when they get married later this year.

Helen Morfitt, 56, started life as Leslie, and is due to marry Felix Laws, 46, formerly Katy, in September.

Between them, the couple has already been married four times, and Helen has eight children and Felix two from their previous relationships.

They will officially change their gender on their birth certificates, allowing them to get married, with a date set for 13 September, the date both had their sex change operations, albeit seven years apart.
Helen told the Daily Mirror: "We've been through a lot over the years and had tough times transitioning from one sex to another, but we've now found each other and that's all that matters.

"I've been married three times before but this time I know it's for real because I know I'm the right sex this time."

Felix added: "We're just like any other couple - including in the bedroom. Neither of us has any complaints on that score."

The couple met in 2008, when Felix visited a doctor about the possibility of having a sex change operation. The doctor referred him to a transgender support group run by Helen.

"As a child my friends were playing with dolls and prams but I wanted to climb trees, play football and get muddy," said Felix.

"Even sitting down to go to the toilet felt wrong. But it was the 1970s and you didn't have those kind of thoughts back then."

He got married as Katy at 21 and soon had two children.

160  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / …Man Kills His Own Friend Because of a GIRL They Are Both In Love With… on: 18-04-2013 06:16 PM

ONE Abraham Bepeh of Betukwel community in Obubu Local Government Area of Cross River State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his friend identified as Richard Beshel Mashok with whom he had been having a running battle over a lover, Miss Anna Ushie.
Abraham is now with the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, at the Police Headquarters, Diamond Hill in Calabar, where the Officer-in-Charge of homicide, Mr. Joseph Inuyashe, said he was to explain why he killed the deceased.
According to the police, “during interrogation, Abraham described his victim as ‘my close friend’, alleging that ‘Richard was the first who attempted to eliminate me over the girl both of us are in love with, Miss Anna Ushie, a student of Immaculate (Annunciation) Secondary School, Ohong’.”
To convince the Police, Abraham who displayed some scars on his neck, legs, hands and chest alleged he had a lingering face-off with Richard, whom he said regularly inflicted him with machete cuts.
Abraham dropped out of school at JSS3 because of cult activities, while the deceased was said to have recently graduated with a degree in Education and was attached to Immaculate (Annunciation) Secondary School Ohong, Obudu as a teacher.
Reports have it that Richard hailed from Betukwel village, a nearby community to the Ohong village where Abraham hails from.
On the day of the incident, Richard was said to have left a barbing salon and was taking his clothes to a dry-cleaner when he ran into Abraham who accosted him, saying they should finish what they had started some weeks back.
A fight was said to have ensued and Abraham reportedly brought out a dagger and stabbed the deceased on his neck and took to his heels but some boys went after him and caught him.
Efforts to save Richard’s life failed as he died before reaching the Obubu General Hospital where he was rushed to for medical attention.
Abraham who spoke with Vanguard NEWS in his confinement said “the boy was a secret cult member. He was initiated into Vikings in 2002, long before I was initiated.
“We used to fight ourselves because of one girlfriend we were sharing and I told him that since he had seized Anna from me, let him leave me alone but he would not.
“Whenever we came across each other , he would ask me if I was coming to attack him, opening his shirt to show me a locally made pistle concealed in his trousers”.
Abraham whose father is a pastor lamented that his Clergy father always advised him to give his life to Christ and avoid nefarious acts, but he did not listen as he wanted to move with modern trend, to be seen as a ‘hard gay’.
The Cross River State Police Command spokesman, DSP John Imoh said the police was going to carry out detailed investigation into the case, as the suspect has mentioned other members of his cult group that the police must go after.

WHAT A TRAGEDY.
