There is only one ATM in the small town of Putaendo in Chile and for about three hours in the past weekend it began delivering twice the amount requested to those who came to the branch of the National State Bank to withdraw money.
An error when loading the drawers of the Automated Teller Machine located in the branch of the State Bank (BancoEstado) in the town of Putaendo in Chile (14,000 inhabitants) resulted in the machine mistakenly delivering double the amount of money (in total about 5 million Chilean pesos [CLP] , equivalent to over US$ 10,500) to various customers who made withdrawals from the cash
dispenser.

The unexpected situation was a real surprise for many when they realized that the machine was giving out double the money requested. Several customers were tempted and made numerous, consecutive operations. They also told their friends and neighbours who quickly came to branch to take advantage of the ATM’s generosity.

Unfortunately, the "gift" had been the result of a mistake of José Beiza, an employee of the State Bank of Putaendo with over 20 years of service and an impeccable service record, who loaded notes of CLP 10,000 in the drawer for notes of CLP 5,000.

The mistake could cost José Beiza reimbursing the bank for the extra money dispensed, and possibly his job. Through the local media he made a desperate appeal to customers to whom the ATM gave the extra money asking them to bring it back. So far, several customers have reacted and about half the amount has been recovered.

Beiza is confident that thanks to the ATM register and video from security cameras, most of the bank´s customers who received double the amount of money withdrawn, will be located.

Feelers from the Enugu State Government House on Friday indicated that all might not be well with Governor Sullivan Chime’s health. Chime’s last public appearance was at the meeting of South-East Governors Forum on September 9, 2012 in Enugu and since then, he was yet to be seen by journalists in the Government House and public functions.

The Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, has been acting in the governor’s capacity, but his aides are reportedly not pleased with Chime’s directives, that Onyebuchi should not approve more than N500,000 for any project, no matter the circumstance.
Our correspondent exclusively gathered from insiders within government circles that the governor left the country about two weeks before the October 1 Independence anniversary.
“He was not in a very good condition before he left the country for London. We noticed it. Although they didn’t want to make it open, maybe because of journalists,” an insider at the Enugu State Government House, who pleaded not to be mentioned, reliably told Newsmen.

The protocol staff said, “For some time now, we noticed that the governor has not been his usual bubbling self. You may not easily know this because he carries himself well and hardly talks, but some of us knew that the man was down.
“From what we heard, he is no longer in London; he was flown to India last week because his health condition wasn’t getting better. As I speak to you right now, he is in a hospital in India.”

To heighten the suspicion over the governor’s health, flood victims at Udi Local Government Area where Chime hails from said they did all they could to make the governor visit Udi communities that were ravaged by flood in early September, but to no avail, as they were told that he wasn’t too strong to do so.
One of the Udi indigenes, Mr. Victor Ike, said Chime could not detail any of his aides to come on his behalf because he was from Udi and that if he did, especially for a sensitive matter in his local government, the press would easily have suspected that something was amiss.

“Heavy rains destroyed our houses and livestock worth millions of naira at Umuifi village in Obioma, Udi Local Government Area, yet the governor could not visit us, obviously due to his health,” Ike stated.
“Our people in government told us that on the day he was supposed to make it, he relapsed and the trip was cancelled.”
When our correspondent contacted the Speaker of the Enugu House of Assembly, Mr. Eugene Odo, to find out if the governor transmitted a letter to him before leaving for London, Odo hung up the phone as soon as he heard the question.
He refused to pick subsequent telephone calls and did not respond to a text message sent to his mobile phone.

However, some members of the state House of Assembly who pleaded anonymity to avoid victimisation, said a letter was sent by Chime to the Speaker, but that the latter did not inform all the lawmakers of the letter.
Also, the Public Relations Officer in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr. Jonah Ugwuanyi, said, “It is not compulsory that the Speaker must read the letter to the entire House. He could decide to read it out during the plenary or executive session.”
While donating wheel chairs at the FSP Centre on Zik Avenue, Enugu, about two weeks ago, Odo reportedly said the governor informed him of his trip.
“The governor wrote me and said he was going on leave and that the deputy governor would act until he returns,” he said.

Muibat, wife of the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najeem Salaam, was, Saturday, rescued from her abductors along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, at Ogunmakin village in Obafemi-Owode local government area of Ogun  State by security operatives who acted on tip-off.



Edeson ONLINE News gathered that two of the alleged kidnappers were shot dead while trying to escape with their victim while three of the kidnappers were reportedly arrested.

Muiba, who is the first wife of the Speaker, was kidnapped in Ejigbo town of Osun, last Tuesday, by a gang of kidnapper and allegedly took her to Ogun State.

Security sources said the rescue operation  turned violent when the suspected kidnappers engaged law enforcement agents in a shootout that lasted 30 minutes.

When contacted on phone at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Ikemmefuna Okoye, disclosed that he was on his way to the state police headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta where the suspected kidnappers were taken to.

The arrest of the kidnappers was said to have been facilitated by men of the state vigilance group.

This April, Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Global LLC was ordered to pay $23,687,957.21 to the Learning Annex and its founder and chairman, Bill Zanker.
Kiyosaki had used the Learning Annex platform to organize several high profile speaking engagements, including a 2002 appearance at Madison Square Garden.

A U.S. District Court jury ruled Zanker and the Annex were entitled to a certain percentage of the profits from those engagements. Zanker told the New York Post he was responsible for making Rich Dad, Poor Dad into the global name it is today but Kiyosaki was not ready to pay him his own percentage of their deal.

He took Kiyosaki's brand and made it bigger. The deal was that Zanker would get a percentage. Zanker and Kiyosaki signed a letter of intent. The Learning Annex is the greatest promoter. They promoted 'Rich Dad' brand on a stage and truly prepared Kiyosaki for great fame and riches. But when it was time for him to pay up, he said no.

Sources say she will continue her medical treatment here in Nigeria as she has not fully regained her health.

A presidential jet was scheduled to fly out of Abuja last night to bring home Nigeria's ailing First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan. Presidency sources told SaharaReporters yesterday that Mrs. Jonathan will return to the country this morning if everything works as planned. Mrs. Jonathan was secretly flown out of Abuja nearly six weeks ago, at the end of August, after she developed complications from a cosmetic procedure she had undertaken in Dubai.



Upon returning to Nigeria from Dubai, she was flown out to Germany in an air ambulance following an emergency which was initially diagnosed as "food poisoning." Several investigations by SaharaReporters however revealed that her medical condition was more complicated and precarious. Among others, in the early stages she lost her power of speech for four days.


In an effort to cover up her health condition, the presidency has, during Mrs. Jonathan’s hospitalization, engaged in a game of hide-and-seek with the media, at first claiming that the First Lady was only resting after a hectic schedule of hosting the African First Ladies Forum.

Although several reports have pinpointed the nature of Mrs. Jonathan’s condition since then, the President and his aides have chosen to hide it from the public despite spending several millions of dollars in public funds on her treatment.



Last week, the president's office made available to the public a grainy, three-second video clip that said showed that Mrs. Jonathan was "hale and hearty." Neither the date nor the location of the video was identified, but Mr. Jonathan 's spokesperson said the president had embarked on a secret trip to his wife accompanied by the Presidential villa's vicar and two of the president's kids.

State officials in Florida have reported that a man has died following an insect eating competition. The man consumed dozens of live worms and insects, including cockroaches. The insect eating contest took place at a pet shop in America on Friday October 5, according to CNN. In total, some thirty people took part at Insect Eating Competition, each eagerly consuming large quantities of live insects with the hope of securing the first prize: a python valued at $700.

The Miami Herald reports that the winner, Edward Archbold aged 32, collapsed in the pet shop shortly after the contest had finished. The exact cause of death has yet to be announced. No other contestants have been reported as falling ill.

The organisers of the insect eating competition told journalists that all the contestants had signed disclaimers accepting full responsibility for any adverse effects which might result due to the contest.

In putting across what exactly motivates someone to eat so many live insects, one of the contestants, Pharaoh Gayles, told Newsmen: "Some of the snakes were pretty expensive. I thought if I could eat the bugs to get one, it'd be a good idea."

Unknown gunmen in Ejigbo, Osun State, on Tuesday, kidnapped the wife of the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam.



Muiba, the first wife of the Speaker, was kidnapped in the Bamagay Square area of the town shortly after she had left her shop where she sold bags of rice, semovita and groundnut oil.

Her Honda car was overtaken by the vehicle of a six-member gang. The gang reportedly forced her Honda car to stop along Union Baptist Road in the Oke-Oyo area of Ejigbo, the Speaker’s hometown.

Our correspondent learnt that Muiba, who alighted and attempted to run from the kidnappers, was stopped and forced into a waiting car.

Chairman, House Committee on Regional Integration and Special Duties, Mr Femi Fafiyebi, confirmed the development, saying the news was “shocking.”

“I just heard about it a few minutes ago. Osun is a very peaceful state. We are the only state that checked flooding and created the most enabling environment in the south-west. I don’t know why this should happen in our dear state,” Fafiyebi said.

Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs Sade Odoro, who promised to get across to our correspondent over the development failed to do so.

Her phone was switched off when our correspondent called her back for confirmation.

Our correspondent reports that it is in Odoro’s character to ignore inquiries by journalists over crime matters in the state.

Nigerian Activist and former Federal lawmaker, Dino Melaye, has denied impregnating star Yoruba actress, Bisi Ibidapo-Obe, but the actress is insisting that he is responsible for the pregnancy but he wants her to abort it.
The development, which is currently a subject of discussion among family members and close friends of both the actress and politician, is becoming messier by the day, as Bisi’s fiance, who is said to be a staff of NNPC is said to be currently in a dilemma.
The parents of Bisi’s fiance had insisted that the actress must get pregnant before they can get married . Now, Bisi is pregnant, but for a different man.
In an interview, the actress admitted that though her relationship with Melaye was very brief and they had not planned to have a baby but fate and circumstances proved her wrong.

Explaining how she met the ex-lawmaker, Bisi said “I actually met Dino through Lola Alao sometime in March or early April and honestly speaking, I was in need of help and Lola Alao promised she would introduce me to someone who could help me. The person turned out to be Dino.

“I visited him in Abuja and he was actually forthcoming and helpful. I was not the only one involved then but he took particular interest in me. We got to know each other and at a point I was scared because he was all over me. Over time, he showed me he meant well and we became good friends.
“Somehow, one thing led to the other and we started dating. He appeared nice, loving and showed me a lot of affection. He was quite frequent in my Lagos house. I remember when he came to Lagos for the birthday of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, I went to pick him from the airport to my house.

“We were an item and it was known to a couple of our close friends in the industry. It was while in Canada with my colleagues, Foluke Daramola and Moji Olaiya, that I realised that I was pregnant. I could not believe it. It was painful because I could not participate in all the programmes lined up for us in Canada. I can remember that it was Moji Olaiya that went to buy the pregnancy kit that later confirmed I was pregnant.

Immediately, I called Dino in Nigeria and shared the news with him. He was excited about it and he told me he was looking forward to seeing me in Lagos soon. When I returned, he received me with joy and on an occasion he took me to his hometown, Kabba in Kogi State. He told me he wanted to marry me. He was so nice to me.
“Sometime in May, I went to London, came back and he called me. He said that he actually wanted a big society wedding with me but since his parents are clerics and the rules and regulation of their church frowns at pregnant brides he would want me to get rid of the pregnancy.

“I was shocked. I wept uncontrollably all night. I called him several times but he refused to pick my calls. I sent friends to him but he refused to listen to me. His complaint, according to my friends, was that I was rude.
“He stopped picking my calls. But each time I try to call him with another phone number, he would pick the call but as soon as he finds out I’m the one on the phone he will drop it. I have not wronged Dino, I have only chosen to do what is right but he sees it differently. I’m no longer a kid.

“It’s painful that such action is coming from a man who claims to love the masses, the oppressed people of this country and he is oppressing me. My fate is in the hands of God and He will see me through. I have not been working to earn any money but I have found favour before God and a couple of my friends. I know I’m not alone in this. God is with me.

Bisi insisted she will not abort the pregnancy.
In his response, Dino described Bisi’s claims as a “Nigerian Movie story' and an expression of fiction.”

SECURITY operatives continued the raid on Umuokiri-Aluu community for the second day running on Monday in search of members of the vigilance group accused of lynching four male undergraduate students of the University of Port Harcourt. This is just as the university  has declared seven days of mourning in honour of its students mobbed to death by the vigilance group in Aluu on Friday.
It will be recalled that men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) entered Umuokiri-Aluu on Sunday and arrested 13 suspects, including the traditional ruler who allegedly ordered the killing of the students accused of armed robbery. News men observed that the community has virtually been deserted as residents have continued to leave en masse in fear of rumoured reprisal by students of the University of
Port Harcourt.
Shops and businesses were closed and very few people were seen along the street of the once busy community. None of the few remaining residents agreed to talk to journalists.
Meanwhile, authorities of the University of Port Harcourt have declared seven days of mourning in honour of three of the four victims of the Aluu mob action.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Joseph Ajienka, who disclosed this on Monday at a press briefing held on the Abuja campus of the university, also informed that the Student Union Week, which ought to start on Monday, has also been suspended.
According to him, the three students confirmed to be students of the university were Biringa Chiadika Lordson, year two Theatre Arts with matriculation number U2010/1805036, Ugonna Kelechi Obuzor, year two Geology, U2010/5565149 and Mike Lloyd Toku, year two Civil Engineering U2010/3010094.
He said the fourth person who was murdered alongside the other three was Tekena Erikena, adding that effort was still on to confirm if he was a student of the university.
Ajienka said though the school bears no responsibility for the security of students who live off campus, it would not tolerate the senseless killing of any of its  students.
He said further that security had been beefed up within and outside the university campus to prevent a breakdown of law and order, adding that flags were being flown half mast in honour of the students.
Against speculations that the four students  were armed robbers, Journalists investigations gathered that the victims of jungle justice actually lived a life that was totally different from the cause of their untimely death.
Reporters gathered that two of the four undergraduates  were in fact event organisers and were very popular within the campus. It was gathered that two of the boys, Ugonna, a.k.a Tipsy, and Lloyd a.k.a Big L, were promising musicians who recently recorded a song entitled ‘Ain’t no love in the heart of the city.’ The song has been circulating all over the social media since their deaths and it was evident that they were stars in the making who were cut down in their prime.
Ugonna, from all indications, lived a comfortable life. Photos that emerged after his death showed that he lived a life of affluence as some pictures even suggested that he was widely travelled. One of the pictures released was reportedly taken in London.

Mr Toku Mike, Lloyd’s father, a broadcaster with Radio Rivers, denied the allegations that his son was a robber, saying his son was a decent young man, while he called on the police to investigate the killings and bring the perpetrators to book.
