342  Forum / The Buzz Central / See The 16 Yr Old Girl With A Rare Disease That Makes Her look 60 Years Old on: 27-06-2013 09:02 PM

A British teenager, Zara Hartshorn, 16, with an inherited genetic disorder that has made her look middle-aged practically since she was a child made a facelift operation.
Zara, originally from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was given a free facelift after a doctor heard of her condition, and she said the results have given her a new lease on life.
She inherited lipodystrophy - which makes her skin looked wrinkled and twisted - from her mother Tracey Gibson who also suffers from the illness.
But after hearing of her condition, a top surgeon in the US offered to perform cosmetic surgery for free. It has proved to be a complete success and Zara has felt able to start a relationship with new boyfriend Ricky Andrews and is even keen to go to college.
By the time she was 12, Zara was already being mistaken for a middle-aged woman - and was even mistaken for 17-year-old sister Chloe's mother.
She said: "Before I had surgery I was picked on for looking different, now I look the same as other girls my age.
"I don't feel like people are staring at me when I walk down the street anymore. I finally feel like a teenager.
"I've carried some hurtful comments with me all my life but now I feel ready to leave the past behind and forgive and forget."
Her newfound self-assurance has helped her start a relationship with apprentice painter and decorator Ricky, 22, three months ago, who she met through friends.
She said: "I've had boyfriends in the the past but I don't think any accepted my condition, really. But with Ricky it's never been an issue."

346  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Jonathan's Bodyguard Blocks Amaechi From Greeting President on: 27-06-2013 06:50 PM

Jonathan's Bodyguard Blocks Amaechi From Greeting President
There was mild drama on Wednesday night at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, venue of the Presidential dinner organised by President Goodluck Jonathan, news website, The Eagle Online, is reporting. A presidential bodyguard stopped embattled Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, from getting close
to President Jonathan to pay homage.
Mr. Amaechi, who is the chairman of the Nigeria
Governors’ Forum (NGF), and his loyalists arrived the venue when the event was already in progress. They came in from the Rivers Governor’s lodge where they met earlier for about 15 minutes and then adjourned to honour the President’s invitation. On his entourage were Governors Kayode Fayemi
(Ekiti); Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); Adams Oshiomole (Edo); Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Rabiu Kwankwanso (Kano); Abdulazeez Kyari-(Zamfara); Muritala Nyako (Adamawa) and Magartakada Wamakko (Sokoto). Governor Amaechi, after settling down, got up and made his way towards where President Goodluck Jonathan was seated in company of Presidents Joyce Banda of Malawi and Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, apparently to pay homage. However, a presidential bodyguard blocked the governor from meeting the President. The
Governor resisted for a while but had to return to his seat when it was glaring the bodyguard won’t allow him. Also, Governor Amaechi, who was seated in company of the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Godswil Amaechi, was not recognised at the event while Mr. Akpabio was introduced as chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. The paper also reported an altercation between Amaechi and Akpabio. The duo reportedly accused each other of being undemocratic. “You are not democratic”, Mr. Amaechi told Akpabio and the latter insatantly fired back, “You too, you are not democratic”. Few minutes after that, Governors Amaechi, Fayemi and Oshiomole left the venue. On his way out, Governor Amaechi fielded questions from journalists. The following conversation ensued between him and State House correspondents. Is your presence here with other governors an indication that the problem in NGF has been resolved? Amaechi: Was NGF sick? I don’t know about factions. We are holding NGF meeting and we agreed that those of us who were there should honour the President and attend the dinner, we have attended, you saw all of them, some have left
and I am leaving too Did you tell Governor Jang there is meeting now? Amaechi: He was invited. What is my business if he is not there? 16 to 19. Are you not a Nigerian? 16 governors voted for him, 19 governors voted for me. If he does not accept the 19, he is undemocratic. Anybody who supports him, including television houses, are also undemocratic. I have said it in a statement that if at any point in time we cannot uphold what 19 governors said, then we should be afraid of 2015. If the PDP is suspending me for that reason, too bad. We must learn to be democratic. I am not aware that the party has given any reason for suspending me, if that is the reason, too bad. The party is yet to give any reason for my suspension. I am not aware
that the party suspended me for winning an election.

What is the way forward? Amaechi: That is the question to ask Jang and those who are supporting him. Those with me are in majority.

350  Forum / The Buzz Central / My Husband Wants A DNA? He Must Be Mad ––Laide Bakare on: 27-06-2013 02:12 PM

Actress Laide Bakare, who has been enmeshed in a paternity mess with two men, has finally reacted to the claims by her estranged husband, Olumide Okunfulire, that she should submit her new baby for a DNA test to ascertain the true father of the new child.
Olumide insisted that he and his estranged wife, Laide Bakare, had sex several times in the last 9 months and wondered why she wants to give his baby to a man, popular known as ATM.

Reacting to her husband's claims, Laide Bakare said:
He must be “mad and oozing from chronic drunkenness" to dare ask her to come out for a DNA test in order to prove the father of her new baby.

In a chat with City People she said, “Ordinarily, I would not believe all the stories of him saying those rubbish in the media. Maybe he was being pushed to say those things by those who know nothing about how we lived together or, maybe, they just want to put him in a big trouble.”

Laide, who failed to confirm if she was having sex with both men, simply said "I’m sure he has run mad".

352  Forum / The Buzz Central / Wife Beats Husband: Lamentations Of A Battered Husband on: 27-06-2013 02:09 PM

I have known him for two years. He is one of those distant neighbours who had through casual interactions become a friend. In the months that we lived together in the same neighbourhood and when we occasionally ran into one another, our conversation never went beyond the usual inquiry about the weather or the offhand question: “How is your family?”

As a casual friend and neighbour, I had observed him from a distance. He was introverted and easy-going, almost self-effacing. I knew him as someone who minded his business. He never got into trouble with anyone. That was as far as our friendship went until a year ago when I began to see him with a lady.

Once, he timidly introduced her to me as his fiancée. He re-appeared in the neighbourhood again after a month only to apologise for not inviting me to his wedding. I got him a small gift and wished him a happy married life. He had at the time informed me that he would quit his self-contained apartment to a more comfortable one due to his change of status. This was more than a year ago and as they say, a lot of water has passed under the bridge. Last weekend, when I again ran into my old friend at a barber’s shop where I went for a haircut; he had changed a great deal.

He was emaciated and withdrawn. He also looked traumatised. He could not even recognise me at first when I waved to draw his attention. I observed him closely. He did not radiate the freshness and robust look that is common with newly-weds. I nudged him. First, he looked past me, a blank expression on his face; then, he jumped as if he had seen a ghost. He looked at me again for a moment and then screamed: “Ah! Bros, how now? Long time no see” We exchanged pleasantries in the midst of the loud music from the blaring speakers in the saloon where we had waited for our turn to come. Grabbing me by the arm like a long lost friend, he half-dragged me to a distance where he was sure that no one could eavesdrop on us. Then, in what seemed like torrents of pent-up emotion, he let out the tale of woes his new marriage had become.

“Bros, where have you been? I have been on the look-out for you. You see, I hardly make friends. But I see you as somebody I can confide in. My marriage has been hell and my wife is trouble personified. She has been violent since the first day we were pronounced husband and wife.” He paused and looked around to see if anyone was eavesdropping on us.

“We did not court for a long time. But even in those few months of our courtship, I noticed she was very aggressive. She once slapped a cashier over a small matter. She also slapped me once and I once narrowly escaped being bathed with hot water but I never took it seriously then. Each time she goes into a rage, I quickly forgive her. In the last one year, she has fought me many times over flimsy arguments. The last time, she slapped me in the presence of our friends at a party. The other day, when we got into an argument, one of the many we had had, she sliced my arm with a razor.”

He unfolded his shirt to reveal a deep but a stitched scar that ran through his shoulder to his wrist. It was scary. He went on, now almost sobbing. “I really do not know what to do as I am very scared of her violent mood swings. Her weapons include hot water, boiling soup and kitchen knife which she throws at me like missiles. She has destroyed every gadget in the house. When she is calm, she would break down in my arms, and cry profusely. I have forgiven her many times when I look into her eyes because I really love her. What should I do now? Things have become even more complicated now that she is pregnant with our first baby.”

He proceeded to show me deep scars of teeth bites, nail scratches and injury marks; results of months of violence their marriage had become. It was unbelievable. Now, he has taken to drinking. We returned and both took our turns to have the haircut that had brought us to the hairdresser’s in the first place. Later, we ended up in a bar where he quickly drowned two bottles of beer. I did not know what to say. Third party advice in marriage is always a tricky one. I watched him as he drowned one glass of chilled lager after the other.

He looked pathetic.

Relationship between a man and a woman has always been a complicated one. This is even more so when violence is involved. I have come in contact with women who had been at the receiving end of some of the worst forms of domestic violence. But a battered husband is thought to be rare or hardly discussed. The first reaction upon knowing about the topic of battered men, for many people, is that of disbelief. Battered husbands are also a topic for jokes (such as the cartoon image of a woman chasing her husband with a rolling-pin). Violence against husbands has historically been ignored or subjected to ridicule and abuse. In 18th-century France, for example, a battered husband was made to wear an outlandish outfit and ride backwards around the village on a donkey.

Even those people who like to consider themselves liberated and open-minded often have a difficult time even imagining that husband battering could take place. The idea goes against the stereotype of the passive and helpless female. Although feminism has opened many of our eyes about the existence of domestic violence, and newspaper reports often include cases of abuse of wives, the abuse of husbands is a rarely discussed phenomenon. In many ways, it is still the women who suffer cruelty from violent husbands. While the majority of domestic violence victims are women, abuse of men is thought to happen far more often than one may probably expect.

Typically, men are physically stronger than women but that doesn’t necessarily make it easier to escape the violence or the relationship. An abused man may face a shortage of resources, scepticism from police, and major legal obstacles, especially when it comes to gaining custody of his children from an abusive mother. Husband battering is also said to happen to men from all cultures and all walks of life. Figures have suggested that as many as one in three victims of domestic violence are male. However, men are often reluctant to report abuse by women because they feel embarrassed, or they fear they won’t be believed, or worse, that police will assume that since they’re males they are the perpetrators of the violence and not the victims. Many people also have trouble understanding why a woman who is being abused by her husband or boyfriend doesn’t simply just leave him. When the roles are reversed, and the man is the victim of the abuse, people are even more bemused.

However, anyone who’s been in an abusive relationship knows that it’s never that simple. Ending a relationship, even an abusive one, is rarely easy. When my friend told me he loves his wife, I had imagined why women also find it difficult to quit an abusive husband. However, in spite of the isolated cases of battered men, I still believe women are the major victims. My advice for victims of abuse (man or woman) has always been: Don’t wait till death do you part. Seek help and quit the marriage as soon as possible. Back to the bar, I looked on with pity as my friend hit his seventh bottle. He seemed in no hurry to leave.

353  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / This Guy Rapes UNILAG Student and Shares Her Nood Photo on: 27-06-2013 07:36 AM

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 22-year-old Babajide Bashorun, for allegedly kidnapping a female undergraduate of the University of Lagos, Akoka, and molesting her.

The police said Bashorun, a dog breeder, did not only rape his victim, he also took snapshot of her nudity, which he later posted all around the Internet...

A family source said, “Few days later, the pictures were all over the Internet. The picture had the name and surname of the girl, her university, age, department and course of study. People were stopping her on the campus to tell her they had seen her Nood pictures on the Internet.

“The girl’s relations later saw the pictures and urged her parents to report the matter at Adeniji Adele Police Division.”

Policemen from the station subsequently arrested Bashorun. A senior officer from the station told Punch that the police were still on the trail of two other undergraduates of UNILAG.

The duo, identified as Mayowa and Ademuyiwa, both 400 level Architecture students, were accused by the police of complicity in the crime.

Detectives from Adeniji Adele Police Station are working on the theory that the pictures were leaked to the Internet through the duo of Mayowa and Ademuyiwa.

Bashorun had said he only sent the snapshots of the girl to Mayowa, who in turn sent them to Ademuyiwa.

The dog breeder, who denied beating his victim, said they had been dating for long and he had spent a lot of money on her.

He said, “She is my girlfriend. I wanted to buy ipad for her. I was able to raise about N70,000. She came to my house to collect the money on that day.

“We had argument and I used floor mop to hit her on her back. I now took her pictures. I sent the pictures to my friend, but I didn’t tell him to post the pictures on internet.”

.com gathered that Babajide Bashorun was charged to court on Tuesday for his crimes while the police PRO said they are still searching for the other guys who are on the run.

Few weeks ago, Brymo, who used to be an artiste underChocolate City, reportedly granted an interview where he alleged his former label of breaching the contract he signed with them. Brymo’s bombshell came just days after Choc City, as the label is also called, claimed that all is well between them and the artiste.
Someone that may have felt unhappy with the confession of Brymo is Ice Prince, who is an artiste with the same label. Recall that Brymo played a pivotal party in that Ice Prince’s hit single, ‘Oleku’, which brought Ice Prince into limelight just few years ago.

Ice Prince took to twitter and tweeted a series of tweets which are believed to be directed to Brymo even though he didn’t specifically mention the person he was referring to.

“Just read an article and so many things said wrong. God is watching,” Ice Prince tweeted.

He further wrote, “dear artiste, your career is pretty much in your hand, do not blame any label or individual if you end up not being happy with how sh*t it goes.

“Most of the hustle to get your music where you want it to be is on you my brother!! Spend your time working and not criticizing other artiste

“If you’re an artiste and you don’t want label to make money off you. Then don’t sign. Don’t accept the car and flat. Do everything by yourself.

“For someone to want to put their hard earned money into your career even when he/she Spends more than they make is enough to say Thank You.”

UNEDITED:

Hello, looking at the time i'm posting this you'll see i've been up all night thinking. i want to seek reasonable and salient advice before i make a monumental decision. Pls help...i am in my second year in the university( for privacy i won'nt disclose name) and the dean of my faculty(law) who is also our legal method lecturer came to me with an offer, she said i should impregnant her and she will make sure i graduate top of my peers and she will pay, i should just call a figure.

She is a very hot lady, super intelligent that's why she is a dean at just 30. I don't know why she wants to do it but from her demeanor i guess she thinks herself above men and marraige. I will be turning 18 by my next birthday and i am over 6 feets, i'm very athlectic and i'm currently the best student in my dept. She said these are "some" of the qualities she saw in picking me to father her child.

Now this super weird, i feel i am dreaming and i need advice, she has expressly told me not to breath a word to anyone as whatever we decide must be a secret till death so i decided to come here, were no one knows each other. On one hand i am thinking of charging her about a million(too much?) which will be really cool money and the taught of graduating with a first class is so magnificent and finally getting to lay with such an amazinly beautifull lady who every student has a crush on. But then there is something sinister and morally bankrupt about selling my Fluid, sending a child into the world and never knowing him, such a secret can linger in the heart till death. Can i get some advice? What would you do or advice your kid brother?
