The people of Umuhu, Ubahuezike, okija in Ihiala Local Government Council of Anambra State, have cried out to Governor Willy Obiano over the deplorable condition of some portions of Nkwo-Okija road which connects the town to major cities in the state.

The community lamented that the condition of the roads is negatively impacting on the economic life of the people. During heavy down pour, floods often wash away their cultivated farm crops thereby causing food evacuation and unnecessary stand still in the local community.


In fact, on a typical rainy day, commercial and social activities are completely shut down in Umuhu as the roads are flooded making it impossible for access into the popular Nkwo Market, Health centers and banks. Motorists have virtually abandoned the road as a result of the damage their vehicles sustain on the road

All communal efforts to provide palliative had not worked because the scope of the damage on the road is huge and well above the scope of community effort; it needs quality and expert action, which the government can provide.

The community have sent a Save Our Soul to Governor Willy Obiano to intervene to save the people from impending disaster as the flood resulting from the bad condition of the road poses serious threat to some residents in the community.

 
There's further plea to the Governor Obiano on the need to open up rural roads that connect the community with neighbouring communities of Eziagu, Ezira, Isulo  for ease of transporting their farm produce to enhance their economy.

How Face of Culture Nigeria 2018/19,Queen Janet Afolabi kicks off her educational campaign held in Lagos.

Queen Janet Afolabi, Reigning Face of Culture Nigeria have recently added her name in the record book of Nigerian beauty queens who had in the past, demonstrated the real essence of their crown as she carried out a successful educational campaign in Lagos.

Queen Janet visited Morocco Comprehensive high school, Yaba, Lagos and  donated notebooks, novels and other reading materials to the pupils. She also gave out sanitary pads and shaving sticks to the adult ones to help them keep proper hygiene.

The beauty queen’s mission was clearly spelt out; according to her, the initiative was a flagship of her pet project tagged ‘’sensitizing students on culture and hygiene", geared towards promoting education for the less privileged and building peaceful and united Nigeria

"Our dear nation has witnessed unprecedented devalue and free fall in standard education which over the years has divided us and set us back economically, and some of these crises strive among the uninformed, especially the young people.

A lot of Nigerians, especially the youth have desist from the Nigerian traditional way of life due to influences from external bodies and ignorance. However, as a nation, we must not give up on the fight to promote standard education, culture and unity in diversity while also advocating for common values" she said.

The staff present, Mr Ajayi , who received the items before sharing it to the pupils,commended the young beauty queen for bringing succour to the pupils. He therefore urged Nigerians to emulate the kind gesture, saying “government alone cannot be held responsible for improving the educational standard in Nigeria.

Exclusive interview with budding, talented Nigerian artiste, Ahmed Adedeji Azeez with the stage name Afrodeji who just released his highly anticipated single titled “Follow me“. The music act took us through his foray into the Nigerian entertainment industry, love life, his greatest motivators and a whole lot more. Interesting one i must say. Excerpts.....

Can we meet you? Tell us about your background.  

- My real names are Ahmed Adedeji Azeez. I’m from Osun state, Lagos based, I have a good knowledge of IT and am a student of Unilag.

How did you come up with your stage name?

- AfroDeji is my social media handle and Deji is my name. AfroDeji is a mix of Afro pop and Yoruba culture.

Can you enlighten us about your record label and the projects you’ll be working on.

- My record label Royalty Records under Royal Heritage Entertainment Agency an entertainment brand that handles variety of entertainment projects. It is more of a multi family bonded organization not only focused on building a productive future but also creating long lasting brands and avenues for artists to showcase their talents and create a class for themselves. I’ve just released a new banga titled "FOLLOW ME". A Light percussion and a groove that puts you on your feet but still lifts the spirit with the soulful strings & baseline .

Describe your sound. What drew you to the music industry?

- I’m coming with a different sound entirely. I could easily be described as one that has the voice of burna boy on a style of AdeKunle Gold, with a bit of Kizz Daniel, you have my full package there already! .

What do you enjoy most about being a musician? What do you hate most? Who are you inspired by?

- I enjoy the fact that i entertain people. Also , being my natural self is entertaining, so am doing what am wired for. I don’t like the fact that everybody try to copy a particular trend in the industry and make the whole public attention focus on just one style of music.

Kizz Daniel has been one exceptional artist for me, being someone I love so much, he keeps his style in a dynamic way. Uncle Burna boy is my motivator. I don’t see my deep voice as an excuse to settle for low key music.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

- For now, I want to leave the industry just the way it is and do my thing, it's an open space. Everyone can soar and make it through to the top.

Are you single, in a relationship or confused?

- A man is single until he’s married and am not married. Ema koba mi!!! .

- My fans are my friends and as a good friend, I love all my fans and pay attention to everything focusing on details too. I’m also open and willing to take advice/corrections any day.

Where do you see yourself and your music in 5years.

- In 5 years time, huh, that’s a long time frame. Well, I see myself on the top of African pop music, inspiring in my own way and topping music charts.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

- In a world full of trends, choose to remain classic!! Work hard and be determined. Stay positive and true to your course.

Can we meet you? 

My name is Faith Inekhia Andrew Unuigbokhai, born May 29th 1999, fifth child and fourth daughter in the family of five. I love traveling, playing video games, dancing and trying out new things. I’m very out spoken and reserved at the same time. I’m currently working on my own business; Nek’s Hub and I'm currently the Face of Kimber Africa 2019 and Brand Ambassador for HKE magazine.

Tell us about your background.

Well, I grew up in the south, Akoko Edo, Edo State where I had my Primary and Secondary Education. My dad is a Painter and my mum a Business woman. I hail from Erhurun uneme in Akoko Edo, Edo State

How did modeling start for you?

I started modeling in 2008 in my local church; New Apostolic church and later on contested in my village where I came second place as Miss Uneme 2012/13. I was always the shy type and my sisters and parents and also my determination made me break through from that shell. From there, I got admitted in to the higher institution and I contested for the face of Applied Sciences 2013/14 and won as the "Miss Photogenic Title". Some of my major achievements/awards include; Miss Afenmai 2016/17, Miss GTCr8t Auchi 2017/18, Miss Prestigious Nigeria 2018/19, where I was awarded the Most Outstanding Beauty Queen of the Year.

Who is your role model?

My Role model is Pastor Omo Umoru of the City of Fire Ministry and Current Papa of NCCF Abuja chapter. He encourages me and teaches me how to stay focused and determined. How to overcome fear and replace it with faith and see everything from a brighter side

What is the role of a woman in nation building?

First, Women are the fruit bearer of Great born leaders. A woman is a home builder and the pillar and bed rock of marriage; like the saying goes, "Behind every successful man there’s a blessed woman”. Women help in building a man spiritually, physically, mentally and otherwise to greatness.

Tell us about your title and How did you feel when you won the crown?

Face of Kimber Africa is an online brand owned by Queen Kimberly Yetunde Savage; Face of Nigeria World 2016/17. The maiden edition was done in 2018, with Queen Chichi Fransisca as our Queen mother. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness when I was announced the winner of Face of Kimber Africa 2019. Among 15 contestants, grace found me and brought me out as the winner. It was indeed a dream come true for me. Being Face of Kimber Africa, gives me a slot to contest for Face of Nigeria World, Brand ambassador for HKE magazine, a business grant, media tour and lots of amazing packages. It’s the start of something new in my life.

Tell us about your ambition in life and your pet projects.

I’ve always had a passion towards women right in the country. Helping them fight against domestic violence and also helping women that are suffering from diseases known as obstetrics fistula which is caused by delayed labor. I will be creating an NGO that will help the process, and also creating an awareness on domestic violence and child support, motivational talks that will help them stay away from depression and suicide attempts.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Wow. I see myself as a big time model and an influential business woman having multi million business franchises in different areas. Also, owning an NGO strictly for the women and right of a girl child in the nation. By the grace of God also happily married with a lovely family.

What is fashion to you?

Fashion to me is what you wear that makes you comfortable. I love it simple and classy. I wear anything in as much as I’m comfortable in it. Just be unique in your own way.

What is your advice(s) for aspiring models?

My advice to aspiring models, never look down on yourself or anyone because that’s the first trait of failure. Don’t see anyone as a competition because I believe life itself is a competition for us all to win. Always stay focused and determined and allow God to lead you on. Don’t be in a haste to be successful. Allow God do his thing at his own time. Thank you!

Once again in the democracy calendar of Africa's largest nation, is another forthcoming historic inauguration ceremony of President Muhummadu Buhari government, who emerged winner in the just concluded general elections, as the Nation will witness an "Inauguration Day Concert" to commemorate the May 29th Democracy Day celebration.

Young Nigerian model, Emmanuel Somto made landmark history at the last edition of Mister Model International contest held in Chiangmai, Thailand. He is the first indigenous model in Nigeria to compete in the pageant and was recently crowned Mister Model international Africa 2019.

The contest had 35 delegates from various countries across the world and Somto who represented Nigeria beat other African delegates to emerge as the continental winner for Africa.

Somto have enjoyed a successful career in modeling, starting off with  Mister Teen Nigeria 2016, Mister Model Nigeria and now Mister Model international Africa.

Government Authorities in South African has today issued an order of final release of inherited belonging to Veronica Skov, an incapacitated woman from USA as inheritance funds to her spouse, which has been under litigation by the South African Reserve Bank demanding full forfeiture of the said funds to the government.

In the statement, the court faulted the claims made by the bank that the funds were proceeds of trade in the country and that the nominated spouse has no legal authority under south african laws to claim the funds as that would be considered a violation against the country's financial laws if the funds were allowed to be transferred outside the country.

Relying on documentation presented by representative of the beneficiary, Mr. Stanley Nomvalo, the court reiterated that the funds were not proceeds of trade,also the estates were originally inherited by Veronica from her late South African parents. She however, placed Koichi Ogino (spouse), as next of kin to inherit her belongings.

Following this development, the bank has therefore issued a demand of immediate compliance to the South African Revenue Service for all relevant inheritance related to the family to be transferred to the beneficiary, Mr. Koichi Ogino within 7 days after which the bank will have the statutory rights to confiscate the funds based on non-compliance
