Meet Denis, the fiance of the Lagos Nurse killed by Ebola Virus disease.

Denis was discharged on Saturday evening at the isolation center in Yaba Lagos after his test came out negative. He was handed a clearance certificate as he was being discharged.

Denis was isolated because his pregnant fiancee, Justina vomited on him severally and he had to take her to the hospital before she was confirmed positive.

Late Justina had primary contact with the Liberian official Patrick Sawyer who brought Ebola virus to Lagos state Nigeria.

Denis went to the Ebola treatment center himself after developing fever two weeks after his fiance died. An initial test led the center to quarantine him, and a second test came positive leading the center to admit him to treatment but this evening he was fully discharged after a third test carried out by international affiliates of the center came out negative. He becomes the 6th survivor of the deadly virus.

Justina passed away on the 14 of August 2014.

Thank God for Denis at least he now has a testimony to share with the people of God tomorrow.

A suspected fraudster that impersonated Barrister Wilson Amarachi, Secretary to Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

John Nze Madu was arrested at Diamond Bank, Ojodu branch, Lagos, where he went to make withdrawals with an ATM card.

Investigation showed that Madu defrauded Wu Qingzhu, a Chinese national, of the sum of $5380 when he allegedly posed as Barrister Wilson Amarachi and deceived the Chinese into believing that he had outstanding payments to collect for contracts executed for the Nigerian government.

This he achieved by presenting the Chinese with fake documents from ranking Nigerian officials. He allegedly used different email addresses, two documents purportedly from Daily Sun Newspaper, an official gazette purportedly signed by the President Goodluck Jonathan and Senate President, David Mark and an international passport data page purportedly belonging to Bar Amarachi.

Madu contacted Qingzhu through an online message, informing him that he was expected to open a non-residence account in Nigeria and make payment of $300. Qingzhu complied and made two other payments: $1430 and $3650 through Western Union.

Madu was arrested at the bank premises where he went to withdraw proceeds of his fraudulent activities.

He would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.

The Chadian government has said it will follow in South Africa’s footsteps and introduce travel restrictions to Nigeria and other countries suffering from the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak.

Prime Minister Kalzeubet Payimi Deubet said the country would close its border with Nigeria as part of efforts to prevent Ebola from entering the country.

He said the decision would have an “economic impact” on the region, but it was necessary for “public health needs.”

This announcement by Chad comes after South Africa banned entry to the country to all non-citizens travelling from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea, while Liberia has quarantined entire neighbourhoods to try to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

But, the World Health Organisation officials have warned that the suspension of flights and imposition of travel restrictions are unhelpful and could undermine the capacity to respond. While advising countries to perform exit screening at airports, seaports and major border crossings, the WHO is against any ban on international travel or trade.

Gregory Hartl, a WHO spokesman said, “If you try to shut down air travel and sea travel, you risk affecting to a huge extent the economy, people’s livelihoods and their ability to get around without stopping the virus from traveling. You can’t ship goods in; sometimes these goods are basic staples people need to survive, food and fuel.”

He emphasised that official border closures would constrain resources to address the epidemic and would not stop all means of travel outside of affected areas.

According to a representative for the WHO Travel and Transport Task Force, Daniel Menucci, the travel ban will restrict humanitarian efforts and create more problems than it will solve.

He said, “Any discontinuation of transport will affect humanitarian aid, doctors, nurses and human resources entering the country, the transfer of biological sampling and equipment for hospitals; all of this needs international transporting, international airlines. This will create more problems in helping the countries most affected.”

How’s your latest effort, I Got Your Back doing?

It was premiered in a big way in the USA. I am planning to do same in Ni­geria, Ghana and the UK. I am back for real! And the feedback I am getting from my fans and colleagues has been simply overwhelming.Why did you take a break from act­ing?

Contrary to what a lot of people think, I never left the industry. I am multi-talented and I have been expressing myself in other ways aside acting. As you very well know, I am also a script writer and I have been involved in a couple of American productions. I have a US based production company so I have been busy packaging a lot of stuff.

So could you share your American experience with us?

Wow! It’s been quite exciting! You see I have a passion for storytelling. I have been involved in feature and short film productions and collaborated on a couple of scripts. Some of these productions are in post production phase while others are completed. They include Closure, Pier 16, Lost In Translation and My Nana & I. I have also been organising writing class­es geared towards aspiring youths. My production company is called Senamedia House. Our first feature film was I Got Ur Back. The movie deals with relationships and challenges in marriage. I also did Closure, Pier 16, Lost In Translation and My Nana. I starred in most of them.

Tell us about your relationship with Zeb Ejiro?

Zeb is like a big brother; a trend setter. He is such a talented movie maker and I am inspired by his energy and passion. I am excited to be collaborating with him on a very big project which we are cur­rently working on. It’s something fresh and new, never seen in these parts. Why I respect him so much is that he puts his money where his mouth is.

How has family life been and what else do you engage in outside mov­iemaking?

Family life has been good. I am eternal­ly grateful to God. I work in the medical field in the US. My schedule is flexible. In America you have to work to pay the bills.

A morgue attendant has admitted to having sex with up to 100 corpses .Kenneth Douglas, a 60-year-old Ohio resident, said he had sex with the corpses between 1976 and 1992 while working the night shift.
Douglas was convicted of gross corpse abuse in 2008 after admitting to having sex with the corpse of a 19-year-old woman who had been murdered and nearly decapitated in 1991.

In 2012, Douglas admitted to having sex with two more corpses. In the case of another murder victim, Douglas said he had sex with her corpse the day she was killed.
According to NY daily news,In his deposition as part of a lawsuit against Hamilton County, Douglas admitted to being drunk and on drugs while committing the crimes.
“I would just get on top of them and pull my pants down. If I hadn’t had anything to drink when I went to work, it wouldn’t happen,“I would do crack and go in and drink and go in.“
 His crimes were first revealed when DNA connected him to semen found in one of his victims in 2008. The woman’s killer, David Steffan, admitted killing the woman but denied molesting her.

Britain has recorded it's first case of Ebola after a British national living in Sierra Leone tested positive for the Ebola virus .Professor John Watson, deputy chief medical officer, said:
'The overall risk to the public in the UK continues to be very low.'Medical experts are currently assessing the situation in Sierra Leone to ensure that appropriate care is provided.
'We have robust, well-developed and well-tested NHS systems for managing unusual infectious diseases when they arise, supported by a wide range of experts.
 According to the latest UN figures, 2,615 people have tested positive for Ebola and 1,427 people have died.

Were you shocked with the kind of publicity it generated?
I was shocked! People called me from all parts of the world including China. Some people cried while some people felt happy. Some guys said they were happy my marriage ended. Some said they were not happy that I even married the guy. Some said I looked older than him. Some said my marriage shouldn’t have ended just like that. People talked and talked.But the only time you know your marriage is successful is when you live with your partner and God calls one of you home. Marriage of 30 years can still break up. It is a bad thing for a marriage to breakup. So you can imagine the unhappiness the parties involved would be going through. Nobody is happy when his/her marriage ends. Some people see me outside and ask, ‘your marriage has ended, how do you feel?’ I will answer them that I am jumping up or how else do they expect me to feel? Nonsense! A comedian once said that ‘complete’ and ‘finish’ appear to have the same meaning but they are not the same. If you marry the right person, you are complete but if you marry the wrong person, you are finished.

Were you in love with him in the first place?
I got married to somebody who I was in love with. At that time, he also said he loved me. Unfortunately, the marriage ended too soon.
Why?

It was due to irreconcilable differences. It is not a thing of joy. I don’t think we should celebrate sadness and bad news. We should be more sensitive. No marriage should end but peradventure it does, don’t make a mockery of that person. You are not even mocking the person, you are mocking God.

Are you giving it another shot?
No! Me ke? Let us struggle first and make some money. In any case, I think I should marry a Chinese or an Indian. If many people agree that I should marry a Chinese, then I will go ahead. But a Japanese might be better. Japanese products are strong and reliable.


Is your ex-husband still your friend?
I don’t think you should call him my ‘ex-husband’ because we were together for less than one month. An ex- husband is somebody you marry and after three years or more, you separate. Anyway, I don’t know where he is. We have moved on.

Wasn’t the break-up your fault?
No. it wasn’t my fault. I can’t really say it was his fault too. It was just irreconcilable differences. We met and we were in love and we quickly got married. Maybe we got married too quickly but I have seen people who got married a month after they met and the marriage lasted. Our own didn’t work out. There is no need to apportion blame.

A boat accident has killed 170 African migrants travelling to Tripoli in search for better way of life.

According to Libyan coastguard officials, today a boat carrying 170 illegal migrants from sub-Saharan Africa was feared lost at sea off the capital Tripoli.

“We are looking for 170 African passengers on a wooden boat that has foundered off the Guarakouzi area” some 60 kilometres (35 miles) east of Tripoli, coastguard official Abdellatif Mohammed Ibrahim told AFP.

“A few miles off the coast, we found the remains of a wooden boat which had had some 200 migrants on board,” he said.

“We managed to save 16 people and recovered 15 bodies, but the search continues for some 170 people who disappeared at sea,” Ibrahim told AFP.

He said the coastguard was lacking in resources, and had only one patrol boat to search for the missing people.

An AFP journalist reported seeing the body of a child who was nevertheless wearing a life-jacket.

The coastguard official was unable to give any firm details of the nationalities of the victims or survivors, but added: “It seems that among them are Somalis and Eritreans.”

On Thursday, Tunisian fishermen rescued 75 migrants who had been drifting at sea for five days after leaving Libya aboard an inflatable in an attempt to reach Italy.

The migrants were in a state of extreme fatigue by the time they made landfall in Zarzis, in southern Tunisia, where emergency services took charge of them, an AFP correspondent reported.

Earlier this month, Tunisian coastguards intercepted 90 African migrants whose makeshift boat heading from Libya for the Italian island of Lampedusa broke down off Zarzis.

Would-be immigrants often attempt the crossing from Libya or Tunisia to Lampedusa in rickety boats.

On August 12, EU border agency Frontex said the number of boat migrants arriving in Italy soared 500 percent in the first half of the year, already topping a 2011 record during the Arab Spring uprisings.

The Warsaw-based agency said 78,300 people had arrived in the European Union by the end of July via the hazardous Mediterranean route from Libya to mainly Italy, but also Malta.

“Libya is highly unstable as it is now, and that means that the people-smuggling networks are flourishing,” Frontex spokeswoman Izabella Cooper told AFP.

A 20-year-old student at Covenant University in Ota Ogun state has passed away.

The 300 level Electrical engineering student was strangled to death by his unfriendly friend.

The deceased left his parents house on the morning of August 6, 2014 to a hospital in Yaba area of Lagos state for medical treatment and never returned home.

The student identified as John Chinedu Okere reportedly left home with six thousand Naira.

When he didn’t return that night, his parents went to the Police station to file a missing person case.

The following morning, his parents received a call from a private number with the caller requesting for 10 million ransom for the release of their son.

To cut the long story short, the caller never called back.

Chinedu’s parents later got a call from the police that the decomposing body of their son has been found at an undisclosed hotel in Ejigbo.

The friend who murdered him has been arrested and identified as 24-year-old Okorocha Michael who hailed from the same town as the deceased.

He graduated from Lagos State Polytechnic in Ikeja and has been unemployed since he finished his Youth Service in February 2014. He is currently in police detention.

May God accept his soul and judge his killer.

A young man has killed himself few hours after collecting his GSCE examination result.

The student identified as 16-year-old Temidayo Joseph reportedly took his own life because he was afraid of bad judgement from his Nigerian parents.

Though police are yet to confirm the official cause of Temidayo’s death, his friend said he was heartbroken after collecting his exam results from Ockendon Academy near Thurrock in Essex on Thursday.

He reportedly left the school immediately without speaking a word before his lifeless body was found in a wooded area around the school with self-inflicted wounds.

His school has released a statement about his death;

“It is with great sadness we have to tell you of the death of one of our students, 16-year-old Temidayo Joseph.We wish to extend our deepest sympathy for Dayo’s family, friends and the whole school community at this difficult time.To help people come to terms with this tragic event, the academy will offer its fullest support and counselling.Of course our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.The Academy will be open on Saturday 23rd August from 9am to 11am for those members of our community who wish to pay their respects to Dayo Joseph.”

Parents need to understand that you can’t judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree. The pressure of being African has hit him hard.

When you find out something and it doesn’t hit you at first. And then all of a sudden you crack… Very sad!
