A 27-year old Michael Abodunrin who lived at No 12b, Adeyiga Street, L&K bus stop Oworoshoki in Lagos has been sent to an early grave by his landlady. Micheal had an argument with his landlady over N200 around 9pm on the 6th of December, 2014 which made her allegedly ordered her thugs (one OmoJesu and others) to beat Micheal up before he passed on in the process. The case is already at Alonge Police Station, but Mrs Idowu Adenekan has been quoted to have said Micheal only died for nothing, because she is untouchable and there's nothing anyone can do to her. The police have also been accused of taking sides and doing little or nothing about the matter because of the woman's connections. Too sad!

Mansur, a Nigerian student in Malaysia had an argument with a bike rider and before he knew what was going on, about seven other men had joined the bike rider to assault him. The beatings were quiet much as they were seen kicking him severally and using all sorts of weapons including a nightstick and helmet on him. He was just helpless and when police officers came, the man, Mansur was eventually handcuffed and was still assaulted again right in front of the police officers, with two of them looking away. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has again torn at President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Nigerian democracy remained at risk due to the action of the present administration. Speaking at a book Launch in honour of the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, Mustapha Akanbi, in Abuja, Mr. Obasanjo, who is the Chairman of the occasion, said the president should stop encouraging ‘verbal violence which may not physically hurt but has ways of degenerating into physical violence’. Mr. Obasanjo said the greatest indictment against any administration is to be seen trying to destroy opposition of all sorts which invariably mean destroying democracy. “Management of democracy without resorting to brute force and dictatorial tendencies must be cultivated,” the former President said. “As a leader, you must not deliberately do evil or condone evil. You should know that you will one day give account to God, you may cover up here, but before God, there is no cover up.” The former president also spoke at length on the President’s handling of the Boko Haram insurgency, corruption, the economy and youth unemployment. On insecurity, Mr. Obasanjo said Boko Haram is not out to “frustrate anyone’s political efforts” and lamented that it took Mr. Jonathan the years to fully understand the menace. On corruption, Mr. Obasanjo said, “when the head is rotten, the whole body is useless” On the economy, he said Nigeria would continue to sink deeper and that what Nigerians are told about the state of the economy “is not truly what the economy is”. “The economy is in doldrums, if not in reverse,” he said. Mr. Obasanjo’s latest attack on the President is coming seven days after he rated Mr. Jonathan’s performance as below average.
All Progressives Congress presidential aspirant, General Muhammadu Buhari, has taken his campaign fund raising efforts to Facebook, soliciting Nigerians to give sacrificially for his presidential campaign. This move by Buhari is the first in the history of presidential election campaign in Nigeria. Asking his Facebook friends to contribute to his campaign funds, Buhari appealed to them for sacrificial giving, saying that he was not ignorant of their already difficult living conditions. He added that sacrifice was needed in order to put an end to the life of the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Gen. Buhari said in the post thus: “As we have made it clear, our campaign is going to be funded, planned and run by ordinary Nigerian citizens like you. This is in recognition of your role as biggest stakeholders capable of changing the course of history of this great yet badly run nation. “In this regard, we launch our crowd funding platform through which every Nigerian can contribute his token towards shaping the destiny of this country. “Dear friends, I know what it means to ask citizens over 60 per cent of whom live on less than $1 per day to donate for this campaign. I know many of you are finding it difficult to pay your rents, school and medical bills, to buy the fuel to cook your food, light up your homes or power your vehicles. I know how it hurts and I know you have suffered enough. “But that little contribution – that little sacrifice you make is an investment in the future that come 2015 will usher in a new era for our country, one that promises jobs and opportunities for anyone willing to work hard, and peace and prosperity for all. “So when you look at that little amount of money you are parting with, and the money our opponents are offering you for your votes, think not about the nominal value, think about the choice you are making, and that choice is very clear; either you put your money for a change you trust in, or for four more years of insecurity, corruption and bad leadership under President Jonathan. “Our opponents have huge financial resources, I have only you and God, and I trust that our struggle will triumph. Our opponents have foreign bank accounts and possessions to run to when they destroy this country, me and you have only this Nigeria to live and die in.
