81  Forum / The Buzz Central / Sad! Popular actor dies of kidney failure in China (photos) on: 13-04-2016 08:44 AM
It came as a shock to the Ghanaian movie industry when the
death of veteran actor,
Nii Odoi Mensah, was
announced.

According to Starfm Online, the former
President of the
Ghana Actors Guild reportedly underwent a
kidney transplant in China on Monday, April 11, but he suddenly passed away.

The transplant was said to have been made
possible through popular actress, Juliet Ibrahim, through her
foundation. Sadly,
the veteran could not come back to show
appreciation to those who supported him.

Speaking to KMJ
on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz, Ghanaian film
producer, Socrate Safo said Nii Odoi was living on dialysis in Ghana but went to China upon
hearing of a hospital which could treat him.
PAY

“I spoke to Nii almost every day except yesterday because I had lots of meetings…

Before he went to China, he told me he had heard of a hospital
there which could treat him and they needed
about $10,000.

We all did our part by
contributing but when he got there, he realised he would need
more than the
said amount because he needed more
treatment. I remember he called to request
for about $26,000. We
solicited for support and all that,” he said.

“Three days ago, we had a conversation and
I told him I will update him on certain things I
had to do for him.

I couldn’t call. I woke up today, checked ASOG
board platform and Abeiku Sagoe had posted there that he had passed on. I
called Nii, he didn’t answer so I sent him a
message hoping he responds. And I pray he
responds,” Socrate Safo added.

May his soul rest in peace.

83  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / OMG: Woman kidnaps her kids, demands ransom from husband(photos) on: 13-04-2016 04:13 AM

THE Rivers State Police Command has
arrested a woman, Mrs.
Abigail Brown, for kidnapping her two
children to get ransom from her husband.

Brown and her husband’s former driver, identified
simply as ThankGod,
were said to have kidnapped Abigail’s two
children and called the
husband to pay a ransom to secure their
release.

Brown initially denied the allegation against her, but later said
the act was not intentional.

She told PUNCH Metro that it was
frustration that made her to commit the crime, adding that she had no means of
survival.

She claimed that her
husband had abandoned her and the two children to suffer, adding that the kidnap
was the only means of
making some money from her husband.

It was gathered that
the suspect had abducted her two
children, aged two and 10 respectively, and hid them in her sister’s place.

She was said to be awaiting the ransom
from the husband before she was
apprehended by the police.

She said, “I did it because of frustration. My husband abandoned me and my children.

“Since he left us and went away, I have
been suffering with my
children, and I know that he has money.

“I only did it to make him bring money for me
to take care of the children we had together.”

It was learnt that the
suspect had demanded N6m as ransom to
secure the release of the two children.

She said, “I did not demand up to that
amount, but I demanded money from
my husband.”

ThankGod, the former driver to the
woman’s husband, who
accepted taking part in
the act, said his former
boss’ wife contacted him.

ThankGod said, “She called me to help her. She told me to take
the two children to her
sister’s place.

That is how I got involved. “She used me
to act as the kidnapper of the two children before we were
arrested. She lured me into it.”

Meanwhile, the state police command on
Tuesday paraded 146
suspected criminals in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the
command, DSP Ahmad
Muhammad, saidthe
suspects were arrested in separate raids by the police in
different communities of the state.

Muhammad, who paraded the suspects
on behalf of the
Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, noted
that the 146 persons were arrested in
connection with armed
robbery, kidnap and cult related activities in the
state.

84  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Breaking: Five Chibok parents received calls from missing girls’ mobiles on: 13-04-2016 03:39 AM

Five parents of
the abducted 219 Chibok schoolgirls have
received calls from the phone numbers of
their missing daughters, our correspondent gathered on Tuesday.

The parents who reportedly called back the lines were however told off by the respondents at the other end.

The Chairman, Chibok
Community in Abuja,
Tsambido Abana, told our correspondent that the community planned to report the incident to the government for investigation.

“Five parents informed me that they have been receiving calls from their daughters’
phones, but when they
called back, the persons that responded said the phones were their own
and that they should stop calling the lines.

We don’t know if the network (telecom firms) had allocated
the girls’ lines
to other persons or if
the callers were just
playing pranks on the parents; we will report
this to the government
for security agencies to
investigate,” Abana said.

The Chibok elder could not however confirm when the parents
received the calls, saying he was just
informed about it on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl identified as
Fati, who regained
freedom after spending two years in Boko
Haram’s captivity, has
explained how teenage girls volunteer to go
on suicide missions in
order to escape molestation and other
forms of hardship under the sect.

Fati, whose name was
changed to protect her
identity, said young girls
fight to strap on a bomb, not because they were brainwashed
by their captors but
because the relentless
hunger and segxwal abuse became too
much to bear.

“They came to us to pick us. They would
ask, ‘Who wants to be a suicide
bomber?’
The girls would shout, ‘me, me, me.’ They
were fighting to do the
suicide bombings,” Fati
told CNN.

“It was just because they want to run away from Boko Haram. If
they give them a suicide bomb, then maybe they would
meet soldiers, tell them, ‘I have a bomb
on me’ and they could
remove the bomb. They
can run away.”

The teenager who was
kidnapped from her village by the insurgents shared her
experience with CNN at a refugee camp
in Cameroon.

“We said, ‘No, we are too small; we don’t
want to get married, so
they married us by force,” Fati said,
explaining that after he raped her for the
first time, her abuser gave her a wedding
present – a purple and
brown dress with a
matching headscarf that she would wear for the next two
years.

While under his control, she explained that
she was whisked from
one hideouts to another
hideouts in order to evade security forces.

She recalled that she met girls even younger than her in Sambisa Forest, some of whom she claimed were the abducted Chibok
schoolgirls.

“There were so many
kidnapped girls there, I
couldn’t count.

There were always bombs and bullets
coming from the sky. All of the girls were
so frightened.

All of them, they always cried and the
men raped us.

There is no food, nothing. The children,
you can count their ribs
because of the hunger,” said Fati, who is
now in Minawao
refugee camp in Cameroon.

Fati said, “Many girls are still in Sambisa, some
volunteering to die so that they can perhaps live.”

The United Nations
International Children
Emergency Fund has said Boko Haram’s use of child bombers has
increased over the last year with one in five
suicide attacks now done by children.

In a report titled, Beyond Chibok, UNICEF
said that boys abducted and recruited into Boko Haram’s ranks were forced to
attack their own families to demonstrate their loyalty, while girls were
exposed to severe abuse including segxwal
violence and forced
marriage to fighters.

The UN report was released as Nigeria
approaches the second
anniversary of the kidnapping by Boko Haram of more than
200 girls from their boarding school in
Chibok.

“Girls, who are often drugged, were behind
three-quarters of such
attacks committed by
the militant Islamist group in Cameroon,
Nigeria and Chad.

“It is an 11-fold increase with four attacks in 2014 compared to 44 the next year, including
January 2016,” the report said, adding that the change in tactics
reflected the loss of
territory by the
 terrorist group.

UNICEF said up to 1.3 million children have
been forced from their
homes across Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria
and Niger.

A 17-year-old girl who was abducted and is
living with her baby in a camp Maiduguri told
the UN agency that she
refused to marry despite death threats.

“Then they came for me at night. They
kept me locked in a house for over a month
and told me:

‘Whether you like it or not, we have already married you,” she
narrated.

In continuation of its fight against Boko Haram insurgency, the
Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully cleared another logistics base
belonging to the dreaded terrorist group.

Airstrike on Kangarawa, Boko Haram’s logistic
base The NAF F-7Ni
fighter aircraft on Monday, April 11, carried out air strike on one of
Boko Haram’s base in
Kangarawa, Borno state.

The NAF dropped the first bomb at about 3.18pm. The first bomb

The second bomb was
dropped at about 3.21pm.

The second bomb dropped in Kangarawa
As the NAF bombed the
logistics base, the Boko Haram insurgents could
be seen running helter skelter.

Boko Haram terrorists flee as NAF bombs
logistic base in Kangarawa The inferno and multi explosions,
as can be seen from the footage of the air strike suggests that
the logistics base
probably houses
a fuel or ammunition
dump.

This latest air strike is another major success of the air component of
Operation Lafiya Dole and a setback for the
terrorist sect. In recent times, its been one victory after the other.

According to Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, the
chief of air staff, the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east of the
country will soon come to an end .

On Sunday, April 10, troops of 155 task force battalion carried
a clearance operation in
Nimila village , where it rescued 14 people from
the captivity of the insurgents and recovered weapons.

The Nigerian troops of 152 task force
battalion in conjunction with troops of sector
1 of multinational
joint task force on Sunday, April 4, carried out clearance operation in suspected hideouts of Boko Haram terrorists.

The troops cleared terrorists in Madawaya,
Jere, Kardile, Koujili, Ngenere and Maksamari, as well as Douse, Bembem,
Zombulum and Taraji villages.

They killed 15 Boko Haram terrorists and
captured some weapons.

On March 29, Nigerian troops wiped out the
terrorists from their
headquarters in Alagarno Forest in Borno state.

The army had a major
breakthrough when it arrested the leader of the Ansaru Islamic
Sect, Khalid Albarnawi , who is the second in
command to the infamous Abubakar
Shekau, the leader of Boko Haram.

87  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Boko Haram now using children for sucide mission(photos) on: 12-04-2016 04:59 PM
Boko Haram is
turning to children to
carry out its acts of
violence, the UN says, warning that the number of kids used as
bombers by the Takfiri terrorist group has soared 11-fold over the past year.

The number of child
bombers involved in “attacks in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and
Niger has risen sharply over the past year, from four in 2014 to 44 in 2015," the United Nations Children's Fund
(UNICEF) said in a
report published on
Tuesday.

The report, entitled
"Beyond Chibok," also
said that one of every five bombers deployed by Boko Haram in the
past two years has
been a child.

Girls make up over 75
percent of children
used in bomb attacks, the report added.

Manuel Fontaine,
the UNICEF regional
director for west and
central Africa, said
those children are

“victims, not perpetrators," adding,
"Deceiving children and
forcing them to
carry out deadly acts
has been one of the
most horrific
aspects of the violence
in Nigeria and in
neighboring countries.”

Cameroon has the highest rate of attacks involving children, who can be as young as eight, the report noted.
Boys are forced to
attack their families
in a show of loyalty
to Boko Haram, while
girls are exposed to
segxwal abuse and
forced marriage,
according to the report.

In April 2014, Boko Haram militants kidnapped a total of
276 girls from their
boarding school in the
northeastern town
of Chibok in the troubled Borno State.

Several dozen girls
escaped afterwards,
but the fate of 219 others is still
unknown.

An estimated 20,000
people have been
killed and more than
2.6 million others
made homeless since
the beginning of the
Boko Haram bloody
militancy in Nigeria in
2009.

The militants have
recently pledged allegiance to the
Takfiri Daesh terrorist group, which is primarily operating in Syria and Iraq.

Boko Haram, whose
name means “Western education is forbidden,” has spread its attacks
from northeastern
Nigeria, its traditional
stronghold, to the
neighboring countries
of Chad, Niger and
Cameroon.

89  Forum / The Buzz Central / Linda Ikeji Vs Wizkid: Who Laughs Last? on: 12-04-2016 02:14 AM

In the past few days, there has been no let-off in the war of words between singer, Wizkid and blogger, Linda Ikeji.

Many Nigerians who have followed the attacks by the duo on
each other in the social
media have expressed
utter disappointment at the use of ‘dirty’ words by Wizkid. Question is asked, should celebrities be provoked to the extent of using unclad words on personalities on air or in print? Michael Uzoma Michael writes on the rift.

An expose on Linda Ikeji’s blog about the palatial home of the music star in Lekki,
Lagos being on rental
started off the latest round of war between the now sworn enemies. Wizkid, it
was said, had before now claimed ownership of the home. Ikeji’s revelation obviously did not go down well with Wizkid who immediately fired back at the blogger, employing derogatory comments.

To say the use of such
words as ‘stinking honeypot’ is obscene and offensive to many, is to state the obvious. Are these celebrities the kind of role models this country needs?
Wizkids response is not
justified in any way or
manner.

Notwithstanding their ages, our celebrities
should know that many
youths look up to them and there is, therefore, the need for them to be civil in their utterances and actions.

Our entertainers should
devise better ways of
responding to criticisms or negative press other than unnecessary display of tantrums and resort to abuses and use of inelegant words which diminish them
before right thinking and decent members of the public.

Quite frankly, it needs be stated that many stories around these entertainers are negative as they often
times bother on scandals.

Our musicians, in particular, will do their image good by employing professionals as public relations officers or consultants.

A well-managed artiste
obviously would have
reacted to Ikeji’s expose in a more civilized manner or
even in a light-hearted form and I bet the matter would
have not escalated to the point of being a general knowledge.

Even at the risk of being accused of taking
side, I dare say Wizkid is actually hurting himself with his unguarded and vitriolic
rants.

The musician’s allegation that his director not only
slept with Ikeji but had to abandon her in hotel
because her ‘private’ stinks caused a big lashback.

Though the blogger denied this allegation, many people have been hazarding a guess as to which of Wizkid’s directors could be behind the snitching of
Linda? Let’s look at the
directors that have worked with the Ojuelegba crooner:

1. Del B

2. Maleek Berry

3. Moe Musa

4. Sesan

5. Shizzi

90  Forum / The Buzz Central / See what Peter Okoye’s wife Lola Omotayo was doing while PSquare was fighting on: 12-04-2016 12:58 AM

PSquare has been on the path to a break
up since Peter Okoye, one half of the duo, posted a series of tweets in February,
decrying their brother Jude’s mismanagement
of their brand.

It wasn’t long before fans were placing
the blame squarely on
Lola Omotayo, Peter’s wife.

This would not be the first time the brothers will be engaged in a
spat (rumoured or public). The first time was when Peter was
noticeably absent at Jude’s wedding in 2014.

Lola was fingered as a culprit then in the brothers’ seeming bad
blood. To the point that Jude had to issue a
statement on social media, claiming all was good between him and his brother’s wife.

However, amidst all the rumours and actual
controversies, she appears to have continued living her life, lately posting a series of funny videos to
Instagram; most
of which she tagged
#dontsweatthesmallstuff.

91  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / One of the Missing Chibok Schoolgirls Calls Her Father After Two Years...See Shocking Details on: 11-04-2016 08:49 PM

When Dauda Yama retrieved his mobile
phone from a neighbour's house in
January this year, he
noticed a missed call
from his daughter
Saratu who had been
missing for almost two years.

The last time he spoke with Saratu was on April 14,2014, when she rang to say men from the Islamist group Boko
Haram had loaded her
and her classmates from the Government Girls' Secondary School in Chibok in northeast
Nigeria onto trucks.

Attempts to reach
her again failed and
two years on, 219
girls abducted that
night remain missing,
despite a global campaign #bringbackourgirls
involving celebrities
and U.S. first lady
Michelle Obama calling
for them to be found.

The students are
among an estimated
2,000 girls and boys
abducted by the Boko
Haram since the start of 2014, with many of those abducted used as
sex slaves, fighters
and even suicide
bombers, according
to an Amnesty International report.

But when Yama
returned the missed
call that evening, a
man answered. Yama
hung up and rushed
to the home of Yakubu Nkeki, chairman of the Association of Parents of the Abducted Girls from Chibok.

"He asked me what
