President Buhari has signed the June 12th bill into law. President Buhari assented to the Public Holiday Amendment Act, declaring June 12 of every year a public holiday and Democracy Day.

President Buhari's Special Assistant on National Assembly matters, Senator Ita Enang, told state house correspondents that with the assent to the amendment, May 29th will no longer be a public holiday.
