Cotonou court of appeal, Cour D’Appel De Cotonou, Benin Republic has ordered the release of Ropo, the wife of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

The court also ruled that all travel documents of the wife and Igboho’s children seized from the duo should be returned to the wife.

The court ordered her release after a hearing on Thursday.

However, Igboho was returned to the custody of Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

This is as the court adjourned the case involving the Yoruba rights activist till Friday, July 23, 2021.

Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou while trying to catch a flight to Germany.

Ropo was released after the court found out that she had not committed any offence.

“Yes, she has been released,” the National Chairman of Ilana Omo Oodua, Prof Wale Adeniran, said while confirming her release.

It was gathered that many supporters of Sunday Igboho were at the court to witness the hearing.

Some of the supporters, who did not know when the Yoruba rights activist arrived in court, rushed into the courtroom to see him.

However, they were later sent out when the court proceedings started.

Igboho’s lawyer, Yomi Aliyu (SAN), explained that “this is not the best time to say anything on the case”.

The wife was not charged with having a fake Beninois passport. If Igboho is found guilty, he'll be sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Go and sentence your father...you fulani cow dung.
Your idiocy will not allow you to know that Nigeria government is lying because he can not use Beninois Passport which is different country to fly with his German Permanent Resident Card which bears different nationality. He got his European resident with Nigerian Passport...not with Benin Republic passport which makes him illegible to fly. But when Nigeria government is lying to the press, they will think that everyone is a product of quota system.
