8 feared dead as building collapses in Lagos

A four-storey building collapsed at the early hours of Wednesday, at Idumota/Ebute Ero area of Lagos, killing at least eight persons.

Report said over thirty persons were rescued from the debris while an unspecified number were as at 5pm, believed to be trapped under the debris.

The building, located at  4,  Mogaji Street, comprised of  several apartments and shops  that was reportedly constructed  about ten years ago.

According to reports, at about 12 midnight, the building collapsed with  a deafening sound as  those on the ground floor were said to have managed to escape as youths in the area hurriedly commenced the rescue of trapped persons.
