The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken decisive action by sealing off the Al-Ihsan clinic located in the Ungwan Rogo community of Jos North local government area in Plateau State.

The move follows allegations of quackery and the reported death of a patient who underwent treatment at the clinic, as reported by Daily Trust on Sunday.

According to sources, a woman tragically passed away in the clinic last week after undergoing surgery purportedly performed by an individual identified as Mr. Lukuma Abdul. This incident prompted widespread concern and reactions from the community, with many attributing the patient's death to the surgery and questioning Abdul's medical credentials.

In response to the allegations, Abdul denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the surgery he performed did not lead to the patient's demise.

The intervention of the DSS came after members of the community lodged a complaint with the state ministry of health regarding the alleged quackery practices at the clinic.

Sadis Muhammad Albasu, a community member, shed light on the situation, stating, "The primary reason for sealing the hospital is the alleged quackery activities at the clinic, which came to light after a woman’s death following a surgical procedure there."

Albasu further elaborated, "The issue is that Mr. Lukman is not a qualified medical doctor; in fact, he is not a doctor at all, and therefore lacks the necessary qualifications to perform surgical procedures."

He emphasized the gravity of the situation, revealing that Abdul, despite lacking medical qualifications, had been conducting surgeries within the community, prompting widespread concerns and calls for intervention from relevant authorities.
