Gunmen have invaded Piko, a remote community in the Bwari Area Council of Abuja, and reportedly kidnapped 13 people. New Telegraph learnt that the deadly operation which occurred Sunday night lasted for over an hour without any challenge from security officials.
A source in the community said the Maidakin of the community, John Jatau, confirmed that 10 residents, including four herdsmen, were abducted from his domain. The source said one of the herders later escaped from the kidnappers’ custody.
He said the hoodlums had demanded N900 million for the release of those abducted. According to him, Nuhu Anyiwoyi, Emmanuel Nuhu, Danjuma Ali, Parisa Numa, Ezekiel Jatau, Shekwosa Ezekiel, Roseline Samuel, Salome Jacob, Abyelo Ezra and Ezra Male are still with the gangsters.
The source said: “The incident occurred at about 11 pm on Sunday. The kidnappers raided the village for about one hour without any response from the community or outsiders. “The major challenge the community faced was there was no telecommunication network in the village.”
