Police said yesterday that they had arrested four suspected armed robbers who allegedly invaded a church at Olodi-Apapa area of Lagos during a vigil on May 6.

The head of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos State, Abba Kyari, said four of the 11-member gang were apprehended over the raid on Sower International Ministry around 3.30 am.  “They made away with mobile phones and undisclosed amount of money. However, a daring member of the church overpowered one of the robbers and handed him over to the police,’’ Kyari said. Kyari said three other members of the gang were arrested with the assistance of the apprehended member and items recovered from the suspects include guns and knives, adding that they would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
