Message From The Deputy Governor, Akwa Ibom State. Mr. Nsima Ekere

It's been very busy for us the last few weeks. Akwa Ibom State has indeed become the land of promise, not just for Akwa Ibomites but for Nigerians. Akwa Ibom State has become a tourist destination, with many influential Nigerians flying in from Lagos and Abuja to catch a glimpse of what we have been able to achieve in just 5 years.
.
Let me give you an example, recently we've had non stop tropical rain storm in Akwa Ibom State. Four years ago certain parts of Uyo were impassable, i particularly remember the Itam area and Oron road by Obio Imo Street. These areas were permanent lakes during the rainy season.
.
But 3 years ago all thanks to the vision of this administration today we enjoy relief from flood waters. We only hear of the havoc of flood waters in Lagos State but not in Uyo.
.
Our secret is the Pipe Jacking Flood Control System, the first of its kind in West Africa. With the help of five star engineering firms we have built huge concrete tunnels underground, passing under houses and streets in Uyo, these tunnels gather flood waters and channel them away to rivers and streams, today our streets are dry. We haven 't stopped, we are still building more drainage systems in Uyo; also take some time out and visit the pipe jacking tunnels in Abak main town.
.
The drainage master plan of the Akpabio led administration is the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria. This is development many of you haven't seen, this is development buried under the ground.
That is why i say keep supporting this administration, your support and goodwill is the energy that drives us.
.
Whoever you are reading this, this land of promise is also the land of your fulfillment, don't give up. Happy Sunday Tomorrow.
Thank You.
