After being recently released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), social media activist Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), has drawn criticism from media personality Destiny Ezeyin, better known by his stage name Radiogad.
Following the broadcast of VDM’s initial video, which received a lot of attention, Radiogad used social media to disclose what VDM reportedly went through while being held.
Radiogad claims that because of the terrible assault he allegedly received while in the custody of the EFCC, VDM needs medical attention immediately.
According to Radiogad, VDM suffered severe physical agony and internal haemorrhage after being shot in the neck.
Though VDM seemed to be dancing in the video to reassure his admirers, known as “Ratels,” about his release, Radiogad added that his voice sounded considerably weaker than before, which he feels is an attempt to silence him.
In Radiogad’s words:
“He needs urgent medical attention, forget that he was dancing to make us feel good. His voice is not as loud as it used to be. It’s like they are suppressing his voice.”
“He’s going through body pains and internal bleeding. In fact, they used a gun to hit his neck.”
It’s crucial to remember that many people demanded VDM’s release during the massive demonstrations that followed his arrest.
In a series of videos, his friend Dkokoppe called on the EFCC to release him, accusing the agency of trying to quiet VDM and re-arrest him.
A number of celebrities also responded to VDM’s arrest, including Speed Darlington, Cubana Chiefpriest, Davido, and others.
Many of them called for his release, and during the protests, the EFCC even apprehended a few demonstrators.
