Also, a commercial motorcyclist (Yan Achaba) was injured in the second attack.
An eyewitness said the two airforce officers, a driver and orderly to a senior airforce officer, were attacked around Yanlemu, opposite Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, along the ever-busy Zaria Road in Naibawa at about 12 noon.
The two civilians were shot dead in front of their house on Hotoro Wali Way around 11.30am.
However, another eyewitness said the two civilian victims were attacked inside a shop.
He said the attackers demanded money and killed the victims when they refused to part with their money.
An eyewitness said, “While they were trying to escape from the scene of the incidence, they started shooting sporadically to scare people away.
“In the process, a bullet hit the commercial motorcyclist and injured him.”
Police Public Relation Officer, Rilwanu Mohammed, confirmed the Hotoro Wali incidence.
Reacting to the killing of the Air Force officer, Air Commodore Sani Ahmed told the Agence France Presse, “A car of one of our officers came under attack this morning.
“The officer’s driver and his orderly were travelling out of town, but as they reached an area called Yan-Lemo, two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the car, killing the two personnel.”
The officer was not in the car at the time, he said.
Meanwhile, a University don and Chief Imam of University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdul-Ganiyu Oladosu, on Saturday, said Boko Haram members were not Muslims but people hired to do a hatchet job.
