An 11 year old Nigerian boy is battling to live at a Kano hospital after being stabbed by her mother, Joy Akule, 28, who was depressed after separating with the father of the teenager.

The lady who hails from Katsina-Ala in Benue state told journalists at Kano state Police headquarters that she transferred the aggression she had for her ex-husband to the innocent child.

“I wanted to kill him to bury the memory of his father because each time I see him, he reminds me of his father’s wickedness to me,” she said.

According to the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, Joy on 21 July at Sabuwar Abuja Quarters, Kano, northwest Nigeria used a knife and stabbed her son on his stomach, bursting the intestines.
The boss who raised alarm over the spate of rape involving teenagers in the state said his Command has resolved to ensure prosecution of rapists in the state and advised parents to keep watchful eyes on their children.
He revealed that on 17 July, Abubakar Ya’u, 20, of Jama’ar Ladan in Minjibir Local Government Area lured a six year old girl into his room and raped her.
Also, on 15 July, Ismaila Jibrin, 48, of Rimin Kebe Quarters lured a 4 year old girl into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
Police also arrested Taofeek Adekunle, an Oyo state indigene, at Kas village, BUK Road for defrauding unsuspecting individuals to the tune of N5.5 million.
“Taofeek Adekunle is the promoter of an illegal Finance House named Finance Empowerment Programme Organization with Head Office at Ado Bayero Shopping Complex located at number 12 New Road, Sabon Gari.
“He is also the initiator of the Traders Multi Purpose Cooperative Society Limited. The Certificate of Registration of the two outfits were forged as he procured them from a tout who specializes in printing government documents.
“The suspect who has a network of marketers all over Kano collected the some of N5.5 million from 328 victims with the promise to give them credit facility.
“The method adopted by the fraudster is to ask his victims to pay 20 per cent of the credit facility before he disburses the loan. After collecting the percentage, the transaction stops there as he would not disburse the loan as promised,” CP Idris narrated.
He also disclosed that 17 police men from the Command are currently undergoing trial at the Command’s Orderly Room for extorting money from members of the public, and urged Kano residents to desist from giving money to police men on duty.
