The accident occurred at about 4pm yesterday, when residents of the area were returning home from work.
Abuja-Keffi Expressway is the only link road between the Federal Capital City and Karu, Nyanya and Mararaba satellite towns as well as Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau States, from the FCT.
Eyewitness accounts have it that the heavy duty truck, which was descending the steep Kugbo slope, lost control and fell on the road, crashing into vehicles that were in front of it, just as those behind rammed into it.
The road is notorious for accidents of this nature, considering the bends and the sloppy nature of the road.
As a measure to check the incessant accidents, the Federal Capital Territory Administration had issued a directive, banning heavy duty trucks from plying the route between 6am to 10pm.
LEADERSHIP reports that enforcement of the ban had not been very effective as such heavy duty vehicles still ply the route, putting other motorists in grave danger.
