Deacon Ayo Ositelu, a renowned Nigerian sports journalist, popularly addressed as ‘Arena’ amongst his peers, is dead. He died last night while watching television.
Family friend and journalist, Kayode Tijani, confirmed it; “Spoke to his Wife. He was watching TV with her and next he was dead. Am in SHOCK.
Other sources say it was shortly after the Super Eagles friendly against Cape Verde.
It can be recalled that Arena served as compered in the tennis exhibition match between the Williams sisters last November.
His biography

Deacon Ayo, was a an intelligent sports analyst. A soft spoken man. Nigeria has a lost yet another rare gem in likes of Ernest Okokwu . RIP in peace servant of God and lover of sports
