President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan seems to have surrendered to the pressure of public rant as regards his decision to change University of Lagos (UNILAG) to Moshood Abiola University of Lagos (MAULAG).
The name change was announced on Democracy Day, May 29 of last year, and since has been subject to several deliberations and court sittings apart from protest and litigation from students and alumni of the institution.
However, the Chairman, Governing Council of University of Lagos, Prof. Jerry Gana disclosed to a liveschoolnews reporter in Abuja on Thursday that the President has finally reversed his decision on the name change.
Jonathan is disappointing me big time, how can he always give in to such pressure? first it was FIFA, now some small school kids? SMH

I beg to disagree with u on this Nametalkam. Should he stand by illegality because he wants to be "Presidential" in his deeds. He didn't go through d right process(maybe he was ill-advised),people cried out and he rescinded the plan. Sovereignty is in the hand of the people and that is what is being played out here. If the present Egyptian president had done the same, some lives would have been saved

NO NIGERIAN SHOULD BE DECEIVED BY THIS SENSELESS DEVELOPMENT. RENAMING A UNIVERSITY OR NAMING A UNIVERSITY AFTER A PERSON WILL NOT PUT FOOD ON THE TABLES OF POOR NIGERIANS. THIS IS NOT WHERE THE NIGERIAN PROBLEM IS. THE NIGERIAN PROBLEM IS DEEP ROOTED IN THE NIGERIAN SICK ECONOMY, CORRUPTION, INJUSTICE, DISREGARDS FOR HUMAN LIVES. UNTIL NIGERIAN SO CALLED LEADERS REESTABLISH THE CORE VALUES OF LEADERSHIP, THE COUNTRY IS STILL IN A COMPLETE MESS. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD RATHER PAY ATTENTION ON THE RESTRUCTURING OF THE ECONOMY AND REVALUE THE CURRENCY AND PROVIDE STEADY ELECTRICITY SUPPLY, GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE, GOOD LEARNING FACILITIES FOR NIGERIANS.
