Yes the handset could also be of bad effect,it happened to me several time up to six times b4 I begin to sense some thing funny.My EC Bank Card,that is maestro card keeps dying each time I have to call my bank to keep sending new card to me at some cost on me.Finally I noticed that each time my Black Berry gets in touch with my card while  both in my pocket the next is the Maestro card becomes invalid,this made me to change to Nokia and Samsung handsets and the problem stopped.I strongly believe some one out there may be having this same problem too.So check your handset properly.
