SHE IS 100% WRONG. MARRY OUR YOUNG LADIES OFF.

1, She sound like a feminist woman that hate men. Africa is not the west.
2, Nigerian parliment have to be carefull adapting western marriage laws. Our elders knows best
Marriage is very important.
3, marrying off young girls is an African and Islamic traditon. keep it.
4,  Most western girls are having sex from age 12 years old,  skipping school to made love  in the back yard or
back seat of a Moto/r car. [ true story] By the time she is 18. she has knocked out 2 abortions with I or 3 children.
5, Woman in USA are mostly single. No husbands , just boyfriend or baby daddy. no shame or consequence.
7. We African marry them off  our young girls to a good man and family
8. made love with your husband not boyfriends. even if hes old. as long as he take care of you.
8,. Too much freedom is not working for woman in USA. they have high divorce rate. gay marriages. single parents.
9. This woman should try to improve Nollywood not change laws that works for Africa..
10. Many countries have school and trade for girls that are married.

My heart bleeds reading this, words cannot even express the hatred I feel for that lunatic mohammed(curse be upon him) and his paedophile followers!

Please DO NOT keep silent and allow this happen to innocent kids because POSTERITY will not only judge them that passed it into law but also YOU and I for keeping quiet!

Go to change.org and search for "Stop The Nigerian Senate From Making Under-Age Marriage The Law" and SIGN the Petition!

Sometime in 1993,I went to visit an Uncle in Kaduna, one day I accompanied someone to the general hospital at Kakuri,Kaduna. That was the day I saw for myself the evil of under age marriage.I saw many girls between the ages of 11 to 16,a number of them having a polythene sachet and a plastic pipe that runs into their private parts to collect the urine from their bladder which has become uncontrollable due to early pregnancies. These are the lucky ones. There there are the one that have not had this operation done to them, these ones are the really tragic ones, they cannot control the movement of urine out of their bladder through their urinary tracts, the result is that urine just flows from the honeypot uncontrollably.....and they smell terribly...the most tragic part of the whole story is that the men that put them in those situation have long abandoned them, the families of these girls also abandon them.I do not know the medical term for this condition, but I know it is a very terrible condition that results from CHILD MARRIAGES.
you can say that again thx for ur contribution on this matter i once met a young lady of about 23 year old in london she said she is from kano state in nigerian and that she has married up to 6 times that she was been given away to marry a 42 years old man when she was 13 years old and that her 7th husband brot her to london for treatment of uncontrllably urine.

Yeah, the horrible disease is called Vesico-honeypotl Fistula(VVF) and about 12,000 cases are reported in Nigeria yearly, and most are young girls from Northern Nigeria, bearing in mind that there are many unreported cases  Cry Cry Cry

Stella Damascus, I love every bit of your comment and you are a blessing among women. In fact I am still surprise and shock how the so called educated men and women in the senate would pass such unreasonable Bill.  With the passage of this Bill we assume that all the senators are educated illiterate. And for the progress of this country we advise that the Bill should be reversed

Stella Damasus has every right to express her anger. It is a free world. I would like to hear the views of those female senators also? Now let us look into this case with less sensitivity. What is the age of consent in Nigeria today? Do some 12 year old girls have consenting sex in Nigeria today? If the answer is yes then what are you guys moaning about? If 12 year old girl can and will made love with her boyfriends what is then wrong with her marrying a man at the age of 12?
What are Stella Damasus views on 12 year old girls having protected or unprotected sex with her boyfriends? How old was her mother when she married her Dad? What is her view on prostitution, abortion and rape? Does she understand the damage these do to women generally? At what age did she start drilling men?
It is easy for her to use her fame to campaign for feminism, women rights and prostitution not knowing the ills of child and adult prostitution in Nigeria society today. If it is up to the girl to decide when to made love or not it is equally up to her to decide when to marry. It all depends on the family background. Passing a law doesn't mean mandate to force 12 year old girl to marry or made love. The education her parents and families provide to the girl will determine if the girl will be willing to made love or get into early marriage. It is not by force. My view is that instead of the girl to engage in prostitution, it is better for the girl to marry.
We have duties to preserve African culture, traditions and way of life. We shouldn't be importing the ills and sickness of the west to Africa because we don't have the law and resources to deal with it. I am not impressed with the level of prostitution in Nigeria today mainly from women from the South East.

Idiot!..
