among the Edos, when we are arguing or angry with someone, and we say "ya wu" (literal translation-- "go and die)
it does not mean go and kill yourself. it really means "i don't believe you,....get out.
remember that Gov. Oshiomole is widower himself.....so he knows the pain of such loss. so he may have prematurely
thought that the woman was using that sympathy line to reinforce her pleadings for her wares not to be seized.
however an unreserved apology would be in order since he is a public officer and humility is required from ALL Edo state citizens.
Bros, please stop rationalizing evil.Adams Oshiomole did not speak in Edo Language so the context of "ya wu" in your Edo Language does not arise. If Adams Oshiomole had switched from English to Edo Language to say the "ya wu",then your contextual rationalization could have been possible.Adams Oshiomole made that statement in English, therefore he knew what he was actually saying.
However, lets pretend we want to accept your far fetched rationalization, how about this,Adams Oshiomole had two hands in his pocket, standing like pint sized god and acting like God,while a poor woman was kneeling down before him in public pleading for mercy,Oshiomole refused to show mercy. How do you rationalize that??. My problem is not really the "You are a Widow go and die", no.My problem is that a woman knelt down before a man that has always pretended to be the champion of the masses pleading for mercy, and the man was acting God and refused to show mercy, that to me is more wicked than the statement "You are a Widow go and die". At the end of the day they seized the wares of the woman, ask yourself,a woman that cannot afford to pay for a mall,it is very possible that the woman took the goods on credit with the agreement that she will pay after sales, many people with no capital does that.So how do you expect this woman to repay her debt,in addition the woman may have children she feeds, what do you expect those children to do?. So please stop rationalizing this wicked act by this wicked man.
