THIS is the shocking moment a bull elephant rolled a car with a couple trapped inside while they were driving in a safari park.

British teacher Sarah Brooks and her fiance Jans de Klerk were celebrating their engagement with a trip to South Africa when they came across a full-grown African elephant.

The footage, taken in the famed Kruger National Park, shows the car behind the animal, tentatively nearing to pass at the side of the road.

However the elephant spots the blue Volkswagon and quickly becomes infuriated.

The car attempts to reverse and drive off but its too late to escape.

The elephant starts to ram the car and the suddenly tips it upside down before pushing it off the road.

Ms Brooks was gored in the back of her upper thigh by one of the elephant tusks in the attack while her fiance suffered minor injuries.

She was later flown to hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Those filming the terrifying ordeal also became quite paniked and were forced to start reversing their own car as the elephant came near.

Kruger National Park general manager William Mabasa said the elephant was put down after it rammed the car off the road and "trampled" it.

Mabasa said people should not be quick to criticise their decision to kill the animal."Our rangers reported that the same elephant bull had been involved in previous fights with other dominant bulls since it has been in musth phase," he said.

Ms Brooks was flown to hospital where she was treated for several days.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=GkNaSoQjrHA

A safari park where animals perform tricks is not for me. For a more relaxed encounter, I prefer Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. The Ranch. This safari park in Texas offers a relaxed atmosphere, allowing me to observe majestic wildlife in their natural habitat. An immersive driving safari is a relaxing journey through large enclosures where exotic animals roam freely, provides an authentic connection with nature. What seals the deal is the exceptional natural bridge wildlife ranch customer service, which reinforces my appreciation for this relaxed and enriching wildlife experience.
