I realise the "enslaved" man and his "master" BOTH SHARE THE SAME SURNAME!

From this, I could conclude they are all from the same family - EDET?

I could also say what has happened here is a normal occurence in Nigeria - and that is relations within a family taking on the "training" and "upbringing" of a less priviledged member of the same family. However if one looks deeper into the household one will see that the child that was promised a "sound education"  is nothing more than a "servant!"

The servants time is spent doing menial jobs around the house that "madam" and "sir" are too "big" (or their children) o do - like keeping the house clean, cooking, washing clothes, taking the children to school etc!

In this instance it has HAPPENED outside the shores of Nigeria and so it is BIG news in ENGLAND and everyone is "HORRIFIED!" Well those of us who know NAIJA and our ways also know this "NA SMALL THING." IF we are truthful we ALL know this is COMMON - we all know of neighbours who have gone home to the village and returned the next day with a little girl or boy to "TRAIN!" Its happening even i am writing now!

The government is aware - they TOO do it. The only time such stories make headlines in Nigeria is when a "housemaid" or "houseboy" steals from their "oga" or when someone has "beaten hell" out of one of them andis on the verge of death!!! It then becomes a police case!

However I do NOT AGREE with the term SLAVERY!

The word SLAVERY is being over used nowadays. European girls being trafficked for sex into other countries are also being referred to as SLAVES.

I think some parts of the workd are trying to DOWNPLAY the word SLAVE so as to turn our minds away from the devastation caused to AFRICA during the REAL SLAVE TRADE.

The FILM - 12 Years A Slave depicts what real slaves went through. And so lets us not ALLOW our former colinial masters try to pinppoint every other person as a SLAVE MASTER!

What this husband and wife did is SHOCKING and should be condemned.

However let us not get the world to forget the REAL SLAVES taken awsy by "CHRISTIANS" for hundreds of years andaltreated alk bacause of the colour of their skin - they were the REAL SLAVES!!

P.S. I suggest people GO and WATCH the film 12 Years A Slave to witness the maltreatment meted out to OUR people. And REMEMBER the story was written by a slave  before he died.

IT IS A TRUE STORY!!

P.S For those reading this article and thinking it is a made uo story - IT IS TRUE.

Well we humans are different but 38yrs old man shld be able to do somethg by running away. Then let d police catch u as an illegal immigrant then u would have share ur story it wold have mean a lot.
