Man Lands In Jail For Bathing Neighbour With Acid

A 45-year-old man named Stephen Shodunke has been arrested and remanded in prison custody for allegedly pouring acid on his neighbour during an argument.
According to Leadership report, the accused and the victim, Lateef Akinwunmi who both reside in the same house, at Ola Shehu house, Saraki, Adigbe area of the state, had a quarrel.
In the course of the quarrel, Stephen was said to have bathed Akinwunmi with acid, leading to the loss of his right eye.
He was arraigned yesterday before a magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state.
The investigating police officer of the case, Sergeant Monday Eboh, told the court that the victim, who just got back from work, mistakenly hit the accused.
The accused got angry and poured a liquid suspected to be acid on the victim.
Also addressing the court, the prosecutor, ASP Banji Sangotokun, said the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 323 (7) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, Nigeria 2006 adding that it could attract a sentence of life imprisonment.
The magistrate court presiding over the matter ordered the accused to be remanded in prison.
