CP Tunde Ogunshakin

Tunde Ogunsakin, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers, said on Thursday that they had arrested 11 persons in connection with robbery, kidnapping and car theft in the State.

Ogunsakin, who announced this when he briefed newsmen in Port Harcourt, said four of the suspects, including a woman, were arrested in connection with kidnapping.

The police boss, represented by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Muhammad, said the five other suspects were arrested in connection with robbery while two were being held for car theft.

Ogunsakin said the command was committed to fighting crime in the state

The commissioner said one locally made revolver pistol, one marathon pistol and one assault rifle were recovered from the suspects.
Others include two magazines, one pump action gun, 22 live cartridges and three motorbikes, among others.

He said the robbery suspects had terrorised Alu, Diobu and Trans-Amadi areas of Port Harcourt.

Ogunsakin said the kidnap suspects had planned to kidnap one Miss Prosper Awara, the daughter of Chief Sebiobo Awara, before they were arrested.
He said the suspects had confessed to the crime and appealed to the public to furnish the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals.

Thank you jare. 11 people without names were arrested.  Arrest no mean anything.  You fit arrest somebody now then free them tomorrow morning.  If you want stop crime, you must convict criminals.
Na conviction dey important. No be arrest. Every time ehn we arrest this person, ehn, we arrest that person, after we no dey know wetin happen to the people una arrest.  Because police arrest 11 people wey no get name, so make we begin dance abi make we give una medal.  Na world cup we for carry give NPF self. Abeg make una comot road make person pass joor.  Lawless government.
